In January of 2019 I retired, and looked forward to a few years of travelling. I bought a GMT and a Dive watch for my travels, and during that year those watches came in handy. Late in the year, I decided to buy a "dressier GMT" for an early 2020 trip to Hawaii. Had a great time, but in the airport on the way home notice everyone wearing masks. Within a few weeks the world was in lockdown because of the Pandamnit. I spent the next 2 years imprisoned in my home, looking at my lovely GMT watches, and planning for their use as "soon" as the Pandamnit was done. Like so many people stuck at home, I began thinking that I should do a long overdue renovation, which I did. Now, the pandamnit is over? but I have no money for travel, but I have these nice GMT watches. So, I set the GMT hands for time zones friends live in so I know when to phone them without annoying them. When life gives you lemons, buy another watch. That's the expression.... right?

I'm wearing the Signum Full Lume GMT right now because of your review. I love it. Using the GMT hand and bezel to time a road trip. It's my favorite travel watch and it's always so comfortable even on bracelet.

Happy new year, Shane! I really wanted to like the Vario Empire, but once I got it in my head that the GMT hand looks exactly like a SIM ejector tool, I could not unsee it 😱. Love the Brew, f Signum (that's on my shortlist now) and Oceanus. I do say I also like the CW looks.. not too crazy about the Monta actually... Not sure why. All in all a great video again!

Great list. Bulova has a dress watch with the Preciaionist movement. 96B158 that’s been out for a while. I highly recommend it. Great classy dress watch. It might be their last traditional dress watch with the precisionist movement. Happy New year!!

The Zodiac and the Brew being my favorites (nervously scratching the new watch itch on the arm :'| ) Love the time stamp titles, super clever !! Also, I was searching around on RU-vid and I do not see anything on the topic of budget chronometers (future content idea perhaps) as I was recently looking at the Ginault Silent Service and noticed it has the chronometer tag. Really enjoy how different your selection is over the same Omega, Rolex, Tudor, Cartier, Seiko, Casio top videos of 2023. Like you I try to find some different quirky watches that dare to be different along with the standard vanilla choices. My favorite quirky acquisition of 2023 was the Mido Ocean Star Decompression Worldtimer blue version, followed by the Bulova Oceanographer GMT in Gold and Rado Capta in Cook. (The spelling is on purpose if you ever owned one you know what I mean)

Very enjoyable video. For me, the Bulova Oceanographer GMT tops the list of newly purchased watches. I also bought a 1999 Omega 50th Anniversary GMT, but that's another story.

The CW GMT is everything you say, a phenomenal daily watch that also dresses "up" nicely with a black leather strap (although it's tough to keep it off the terrific-for-its-price bracelet for long.) It looks amazing, it runs great, and the only minor complaint I've had over the past year with it is that the "recycled ocean material" secondary strap from CW takes forever to properly break in. But that's relatively separate from the quality of the watch itself. Unfortunately I know I'll be wearing it a little less in 2024 because my Studio Underd0g Watermelon finally shipped last week and arrived just in time for new year's eve.

Love that Bulova movement. I think they really have something here. That smooth second hand sweep is spring drive-esqe. I just wish that they would start using the movement in some more traditional styles.

My budget is considerably smaller but I'm stupidly happy with this Boderry Voyager titanium field watch on a Zulu strap and a addiessdive retro diver with faux Tina lume. It doesn't mean I don't enjoy seeing these picks though.

Not sure how I JUST NOW came across your channel, but I swear I share your appreciation for lesser known and quirky watches. When you pulled the Signum out, I said no way… then when you pulled your wrist up with a Jack Mason on, dude. It’s easy to have the Rolex/Omega/insert well known brand here type of taste and there’s nothing wrong with it. But you gotta go to work, really dig in to what’s out there to see the fun in chasing down these microbrands and celebrating them with purchases.

Thanks for this video. It's funny that the Strat-o-timer and Triumph have been on my mind since I saw them at Windup Chicago. I also was able to handle the Strat-o-timer again at Dallas Intersect in September. The Triumph was not on my radar at all before, but now I can't get it out of my mind. The time wasn't right to get the Triumph yet, but it I expect to pick one up in the next couple months, unless I find a used deal before then. I saw a silver dial hit the market the other day, but prefer the black dial. I'll probably go with the "Batman" Strat-o-timer, but the Dr Pepper one was really good.

The Seiko 5 SRPK17 1968 Limited Edition gets my vote for the best of 2023. You need to try it. That Brew Metric with the bandolier strap is rad. If you like the Bell, you’ll love the SRPK17. Trust me.

I own Monta Noble and it's fantastic. Also have bought it second hand. Probably will get a Triumph too. Also love my Sandhurst - CW are really very good for the price. Am still regretting I've sold my Dartmouth series 1.

What a great selection and all fairly affordable. Missed out on the Bulova Jet Star at a great price and now kicking myself but the Zodiac Olympos came along (also at a great price) a few weeks before and couldn't justify two watch purchases so close together. Really wished the JDM Seiko Alpinist GMT had been a global release. Might be tempted to switch the Selten Salavge Bronze with the Signum Siege but it's close.

I like Signum, but they are over priced considering they use nh movements. NH movements are great, but also inexpensive.

I remember. So far I haven't found much time to research the different types of rubber, but ive got it written down on my to do list. I've also recently run across montreux straps. Really nice fkm straps. They emailed and asked if I wanted to try them out, so far really impressed.

Basic case shape seems to be same. Very popular. I prefer cases with A. Lange & Shöne and Bauhaus style lugs. Way harder to find🤔

Where can i get that wonderful racing leather strap that is on your brew metric? Brews store only has a few 19.5mm straps, none is nice as this

All the straps I used are 19mm, but they seem to work fine. I bought a few when i got my Zodiac Olympos, and used some of those with the brew review. Oh man, I don't even know... It's a mess. Last year I think I had about 140, and it took about 2hrs of a live stream to go through them all. I sold a few, but probably got more in then I sold last year. I really need to do a purge this year.

That review came out in 2021, so it was probably on that years list. I actually just changed the battery on it a few days ago. I was a little hesitant at how complicated it is, but the process is pretty simple.

Prices eventually come down, but Seiko needs a reality check.

@@RelativeTimePeople are still buying them at those prices and the name on the dial carries a premium. Microbrands might offer “better” specs but they aren’t Seiko. They are moving upmarket and people don’t like it. They haven’t hit the wall of specs not meeting price but they aren’t far away.

I’m not sure why so many reviewers say so much good things about CW C63 sealander GMT. I bought one but I sent it back. It looks cheap especially when you pull out the crown you will notice the mechanism of the crown is gimmicky. The case is thick and hefty might not be comfortable to wear for travel. The rubber strap looks nice on pictures but in reality it is very thin proportionally does not match the thick case.

Well like a lot of things it could just be different frames of reference in terms of what you are comparing it too. Now the design is a bit derivative, but the finishing of the case and the dial (especially in my macro) I thought was great for the price. Not sure what you mean by the crown being gimmicky, but I have traveled with it a few times. Although these days I think it's been replaced with my Jack Mason for that. I find the travelers' GMT movement better for that.

What's with the GMT watch crazy? I own 60-70 watches but no GMT watches. I don't travel much so I'm not sure why anyone that doesn't travel regularly needs a GMT watch. This seems like an unnecessary complication on a watch and I think I would find the extra hand confusing when taking a quick glance at the time as my eyesight isn't what it used to be.

So first off, no one pays me to say anything. Everything said in any video on the channel are my thoughts and opinions. Whenever a brand sends anything my way, they understand this from the get-go and there is no guarantee the review will be positive. Now if you referring to "sponsored videos", which is when I get something out of it... like keeping a watch. In my reviews, if that is the case I always have them marked, and will always say if the watch was lent in, given, or I bought it. I try to be as transparent as possible with all that. In videos like this, I don't mark them as sponsored because they really aren't. As the various brands had no clue this video would ever be made, or I would mention their watch in it. In fact I didn't even contact the brands after I published this to let them know I included their watches. That said, for the sake of transparency #9 & #7 (Vario Empire & RZE Ascentus) were given to the channel when I did the original review. Whereas #8 the signum siege was lent in, but when I asked where to send it they said I could go ahead and keep it. Otherwise, everything else I purchased, including the #1 watch the Monta Triumph.

@@RelativeTime In February, I picked up a Speedmaster Silver Snoopy Award 50th Anniversary. The only other watch I bought was a Casio AE-1200, and some mods for it from SKXMOD. One was expensive, one was cheap, both are great.
