For technicalities, Wataru's 86 was swapped to have a 4A-GZEU pulled from the AW11 MR2. The car's equipped with a supercharger made by the shop Tool Box(founded in 1992). Boosted up, the car made 200ps. Though strangely, Wataru never bothered installing an intercooler on this, as the piping for both a front mount or the more common top mount is missing in the engine bay shot.

I wonder if the 4A-GZE they used to record the sounds for Wataru's 86 actually has a Tool Box supercharger? since in the manga and anime, Wataru actually replaced the oem supercharger and installed a Tool Box supercharger kit on it. (This 4A-GZE sounds like the stock version from the AW11 or AE92 but i'd be surprised if the 4A-GZE they used actually has a Tool Box supercharger)

Actually the rain isn't plot armor, it actually gave Keisuke the disadvantage (His car being harder to handle) while for Wataru it was an advantage because his car was easier to handle in the rain. Tho, the time where they make him adjust the wipers and he spins out was kinda plot armor but still a good race like you say. Anyways not bashing on your opinion, just something I thought of.
