Kent can't kill the boss with a weapon that isn't the Armorslayer to save his life so the Swordreaver Brigand has to be pulled earlier and Nils can't be ferried down so the overall positioning for routing the boss area is less reliable. This is less due to hitrates and more due to the fact that Kent's crappy luck and the fact he can't fight most of this on defensive terrain means he's more likely to get crit by stuff and die. The Swordreaver Brigand is most of the turn loss. Sain saved turns by being able to keep the map from ending and killing a Brigand on EP after Rath chips the boss so Kent can safely kill him with no chance of dying. There's still the same 1%~ chance Kent got hit too much by stuff in general to be able to safely go for the 4 turn as well as the sub 1% chance Florina gets hit by every attack on the map, and every reinforcement Soldier rolled up on strength.
The rough calculations for the expected turncount are
97%~ chance for a 4 turn
1%~ chance for a 5 turn
2%~ chance for a reset (2%~ turn 3 Kent)

The conditional mean reset turn is 3~
The reset penalty is 0.1~
The expected turncount is 4.1~
Pessimistic Mode is a hack by Doesnt on feuniverse that only allows player character stats to increase if there is a 90% chance of them having increased by the level you have just attained. It is close to 0% growths in reliability but brings stat growths into the equation to reward training units and to help compare units better than by using averages.
