3:10 just to spare some guys the rewatch: ye he says 4 times and plays the pattern 8 times that way it matches up: 1: 4 times 5th fret, 4 times 1st fret, 4 times 3rd fret, 2 times 1st fret and 2 times 3rd fret => 16 times 2: 4 times 5th fret, 4 times 1st fret, 8 times 3rd fret => 16 times this is a common element of music cause the anticipation is not met when the pattern changes by staying on a chord. While I know that this is most basic, I am sure it will help many new guitarists wrapping their head around music in general.

why not instead of going back up to A on the start of the chorus where the pace kicks up, just play an open D? it's music theory wise the same, but it's much faster removing a finger than to remove and re position it on the fifth fret of the A string.
