Featherstone Granite 2P Tent Review - • Featherstone UL Granit...
When Featherstone reached out to us to see if we would like to test out their Backbone 2 Person Trekking Pole tent, we enthusiastically said yes. The weight advantages of using a trekking pole tent backpacking is a key feature. We take a closer look at all the features, along with weighing out all the pieces, and seeing how easy this budget friendly tent is to set up. We use our Durston X-Mid 2 tent, a favorite of ours, as a comparison. Finding good tents that can not only lighten your load backpacking, but help stay within a budget, makes it easy to get outdoors.

Have you had any experience with this tent or thinking about getting a trekking pole tent? 🏕️

I took this tent on a backpacking trip last fall and absolutely LOVED it.

I own this tent and love it! I put a length of line between the two hooks inside to make a mini clothesline where I could hang my headlamp. I like the gear pockets inside for my cellphone and battery bank at night. Condensation has not been an issue so far; it’s very well ventilated. Seam sealing that one seam took about ten minutes. Like you pointed out, I chose to only carry the lighter stakes and left the L-hooks at home. I cut a piece of Tyvek to shape for a quick, light, and inexpensive footprint.

I have this tent, but haven't been able to take it out yet. Set it up in the yard a few times and I really like it. The big thing for me was the side pockets. You don't see nice big storage space like that on most tents. One thing I don't really like is the rams head hooks for the vestibules. They're a pain to take on and off sometimes, and I've heard Lanshan users say that they can break in a strong wind. Planning to swap mine out with some S biners for quick on/off. One other thing that could make it a better tent is another mesh vent down near the foot end, but overall I think there should be plenty of airflow in it

I like the S Biner idea. 😀

Really good review! I'm still gonna go with the X-Mid, because it weighs less, is double walled and fits 2 wide pads.

Love your attention to detail.❤ Thanks for the thorough dissection! For me, I have a pile of trekking pole tents that I’ll part from some day. What I dislike about them is the quantity of stakes it takes to set them up and the sagging of condensation laden material every time I straighten up and rub my face in.(although it make a quick morning shower!) This year, when snow leaves, I will use the TarpTent Rainbow that I just received, I’m really looking forward to it!😊

Xmid 2p is 2lbs 6 oz. Unless you are including stakes for the extreme weather tieouts?

We have the solid version of the X-mid which is probably a few ounces heavier.

Comparing this tent to xmid is just wrong.... Compare it to the one it copied forclaz mt900 UL trekking pole tent wich it is a copy from. Did you notice that copying mt900 to make this one, no one bats an eye, and copying xmid to make asta gear yun chuan 2 everyone looses their mind?🤷

We compared it to the Xmid because that is what we have and had experience with.
