Thanks for the video mate. I've been a type 1 for 46 years. Boy haven't things changed! Just need to finish my last couple of Fiasp pens then I'll be using the Novo 6. Thanks for the great video.
Hi Stuart, you are so welcome. Wow amazing, that is incredible. High Five to you matey. I bet you have seen a lot chance in the last 5 decades. Look at where we are now with CGM, Smart Insulin Pens, fast acting insulins, diabetes research, Pumps and Hybrid Closed Loops. I am glad this video has helped. Hope all goes well with you on the Novo 6 mate. Keep us posted.
Thank you for the video! I'll never forget the first time I got given an insulin pen. What a life changer! Ive been using the Novopen Echo with my Novorapid for over three years now and Australia just got the Novopen 6 a few months ago and the update for Freestyle Librelink earlier this week. Like you, I use the Novopen 6 with Levemir. Australia hasn't gotten the Novopen Echo Plus yet and Novo Nordisk isn't sure when it will arrive but I ordered one from the UK yesterday and am so excited to get it! I decided to check out your video to see if there is anything I didn't know and wasn't disappointed. Thank you!
Thank you for the lovely comment and it's great to hear other diabuddies from around the world and hear your lived experiences. Great to hear you are using the smarts pens over in Australia.
Do uk residents have to pay for smart pens or can we get these on the nhs? I have never used a smart pen before but would find it really helpful to have doses recorded so that I can monitor my sugars closer. Would you recommend both of the pens you talked about in this video?
Hi. Yes - speak to your doctor/consultant/DSN and hopefully they will be able to support you in giving you a smart pen. I got mine when I attended a appointment with my DSN. She spoke to me about the Smart Insulin Pens and they have been a game changer ever since. I definitely highly recommend the pens.
You are welcome. You twist to find the dose you require and then press down on the memory mode. It then connects bluetooth to your phone and you can use on apps like Libre 2 & Glooko to see your doses that you have administered.
Hi Tom, thanks for this. Do you know a way to get apps to disregard the air shot? Just started (scanning the pen with libre app) but all my air shots are coming through too. Cheers.
Hi Frank. You are very welcome. You can now upload your data on LibreLink if you have Libre 2. You can do this by clicking on the menu lines, going down to Insulin Pens. You can then scan your pens to add the pens. Then you will be able to scan the pen using the memory mode and NFC and it will upload all your insulin pen data. You can then access this on your log book. Click on a injection - from here you can edit the note and select 'flow check' to say that particular amount of insulin was a air shot. With Glooko - scan your phone using NFC to upload the data using the 'sync' tab top right corner. Then go to your history tab and select the injection you wish to change. You can then choose injected or primed. There is also an algorithm on their that automatically sets primed shots too. Hope that is helpful. Tom
Just got the novopen 6 today just waiting for the insulin inserts atm but got them as I've been thinking I've took the night time long acting insulin But woken up with higher than normal levels so I must be forgetting to take the insulin before bed so hopefully this will record if I do or not 🤞
The smart pens will be a game changer for you as you'll be able to just do a click on the memory mode and it will tell you when you last injected and how much. Good luck with it and if you have any questions, here to help :)
The NovoPen 4 works with Sanofi's Lantus, right? I feel like I had this pen before when I used Lantus for many years and it worked 100% fine with it. Recently I went back to using Lantus and I realized that the manual specifically asks for either "AllStar PRO" and "JuniorSTAR Pro".
