We just purchased the VIAIR 300P-RVS from TechnoRV for our travel trailer. (Great speed of order processing and shipping-had the unit in a few days. Thank you!). Have had this item on my wish list since buying our camper in 2020. Well, wouldn’t you know it, first trip with the inflator and one of our OEM Castle Rock air bombs goes off on I-295 in Jacksonville, FL. Put the spare on which I had failed to air up before the trip and got the opportunity to test our new pump. It worked great except the gauge is off by a few PSI compared to both my TST TPMS and my stick gauge, so I just use it as a reference and add however many PSI my more accurate gauge tells me I need. Thanks for the lifeline, TechnoRV! This thing has already paid for itself by getting us back on our trip and off the side of the road quicker.

We currently own a Tiffin Class C RV. We decided to go with the Viair 450-RVS because in the future we could own a Super C or a Class A. Haven't taken it out of the box. My question, Is the 450-RVS overkill for our Class C?
@Technorv
@Technorv 2 года назад
It is definitely not overkill and is not much larger than the 300 or 400 models. It offers extra accessories like the 45-degree chuck for dual tires and the gas-station pump (so does the 400) which most RVers find useful.

I have both bags. They are the same, except for color.

Hi Lou, thanks for the feedback. The bag is upgraded per VIAIR. When I compare the bags I can tell there is better material used for the new RVS model. Eric

Could you comment on the operation of the compressor? Specifically, when filling a tire with the gun, do you still have to go back to the compressor and turn it on and off so that it does not overpressure?
@Technorv
@Technorv 3 года назад
Hi Mark, When using the air gun, there is no need to go back to the compressor, just pull the trigger to air, and release the trigger to get the proper PSI reading. It is really easy, I hope this helps.

This would be the one for Dump truck / semi tires 90-120 psi and can still use it for smaller car/trailer tires?
@Technorv
@Technorv 4 года назад
Yes, you can use it with smaller tires, but it is definitely the one to get if you are using it for semi tires.

After having owned a trailer we recently purchased a Class A RV and have found your site to be extremely helpful with the new items that we need to purchase like this air compressor. We find that your pricing is comparable and understand from watching several RU-vid videos that you provide excellent service. Thank you for providing such a valuable service!

Thanks for the sweet words, Latricia. Moving from a travel trailer to a class A can be quite a change, and I am happy we were able to help. If we can ever answer any questions you may have, just let us know. Safe travels!

You’ve already proved that you provide excellent customer service. My husband Dan wrote you this weekend concerning issues with the new VIAIR and you responded very quickly. We truly appreciate your responsiveness and support. Have a blessed New Year!

So - having watched this and then looked at comparisons between the 450P-RV and now the 450-RVS, about the only difference I can see is that the screw on hose is 40" long and the storage bag is gray rather than olive. the 450P-RV is stated as being used mainly for Class A, 22.5" tires. What am I missing here, as I have the 450P-RV and really see little, or any significant difference between the two other than packaging.
@Technorv
@Technorv 5 лет назад
Hi Michael, If you have the 450-RV model then you are fine, that is a great unit. Customers are really liking the extra 40 inch extender hose that comes with the newer RVS model that allows them to stand while airing up. The power specs are the same from model to model. The RVS is the newest line so those that do not have a VIAIR would want to get the newer model to ensure they have the latest and greatest.

@@Technorv Thanks for clarifying. I like the idea of the 40" screw on and will see about getting one of those to make life easier.

I just received the 450-RVS and have a question. The contents included a couple replacement filter elements for the filter, but it does not appear that the filter housing opens up to install these. Am I missing something? Does the filter housing open somehow? Thanks.
@Technorv
@Technorv 2 года назад
Hey John! Yes your filter housing unscrews into two pieces. It might be tight from when it was shipped but it will unscrew.

I really don't like the alligator clips to connect to the batteries. I would be concerned that the negative would pop off if not clamped exactly correct and ground itself on something metal and cause a problem or at least some damage. Is there a 12 volt accessories plug that I could adapt to use for this unit?

What is the difference between the RV and the RVS other than the RVS is a newer model. Any major differences or upgrades?
@Technorv
@Technorv 4 года назад
There are a few differences. We outlined them here: www.technorv.com/articles/technorv-introduces-the-new-line-of-viair-rv-air-compressors/ Here is a summary: Some models get an Increased length of the twist-on chuck so the user does not have to bend or kneel while airing up. Some models get longer hoses to ensure you can reach all of the tires. Some models see an increase in the gauge reading from 100 to 150 psi. The carrying bags have been upgraded to be more sturdy.

Has anyone tested how long it takes to fill a typical 19" class A tire? I really wish you would have demonstrated the unit to show how quiet it is and how the auto shut off works. The auto shutoff feature is priceless if it really works as advertised. Is this a digital readout system to set the shutoff pressure?
@Technorv
@Technorv 5 лет назад
Hi Tom, an example of filling rates for a 19.5 tire with the 400 model is as follows: 80 to 90 psi - 45 seconds 90 to 110 psi - 1 minute 55 seconds As for the auto shut off, if the unit reaches 250 degrees then the unit will shut off and it will need to rest for an hour. Since the unit is not running unless you are moving air it would likely be a rare occasion that you would reach the over heating status. I hope this helps.
@TomSpurlock
@TomSpurlock 5 лет назад
@@Technorv I thought I read in the spec that you could set the unit to shut off when the tire reaches the desired tire pressure, programmable. Did I misread that?

Will this be ok for a class b sprinter 3500, I have the dully tires ,I know it’s big but will it be ok
@Technorv
@Technorv 5 лет назад
Hi Randy, Yes, this will work great. It is a bit over-sized for that application, but it will not hurt anything, and you would have the extra power for other things you may want to use it for. I hope this helps. Eric

What is the SCFM rating for the compressors ?
@Technorv
@Technorv 5 лет назад
Hey John, the CFM rating at 90 PSI for each unit is as follows: Model 89 - .64 Model 300 - .92 Model 400 - 1.28 Model 450 - .97 I hope this helps.

How long does the 450-RVS take to fill a tire to 130 psi? Also, are there instructions on hooking the power to the 6V batteryies to get the appropriate 12V needed?
@Technorv
@Technorv 5 лет назад
Hi Clif, This depends on the point you are starting at. If you are starting with no air pressure at all then this could take a good 5 minutes or so. It is not likely that you would be filling tires from zero though. I will try to get some videos completed soon to demonstrate fill times.

Great info thanks. But I'm wondering since this is intended for the larger class A coaches, don't all large diesel chassis coaches have air compressors and tanks on board for the air brakes and air suspension? And can't that system be plumbed with a fitting to inflate the coach tires?
@Technorv
@Technorv 5 лет назад
Hi David, Yes, what you are talking about is typical. Most of those have a port built in for a air hose. For me, it is awkwardly placed in the RV, and has never done a great job at that duty. I much prefer a dedicated unit that I can move around, and that has the power that the VIAIR units have. If you have a Class A you could check into it and see if that works for you, but most Class A RVers that have communicated with me tend to want a dedicated unit.

@@Technorv The other answer is that on Gas / V10 class A's, there is no on board air compressor.
