Hmm, reading through the rules it appears the example you give at 6:40 may have changed? To win a trick, it has to be the latest date that followed the led card so it follows the more traditional "sluff off" rules. Might help alleviate the power of the later cards as they aren't auto-wins out of suite.
Hey Shiro, yeah the designer messaged me about how the rules have changed since this video. Thanks for the heads up and I'll make sure to pin this comment so others know that various things are different now. Cheers! 😁🙌
Wow! This is a very neat sounding game! As far as trick-taking game artwork- I'm going to say: "Pompiers!" There's just something about the classic cartoon characters that fills me with joy. There's just so character and expression in each of the cards.
Oh woah, that's an awesome choice, Alden!! I forgot about that art and you mentioning it made me instantly remember how wonderful that art is! Kinda like cuphead or Disney in its charm!
As a Leap Year baby, it’s nice to see that card beats everything. My favorite art from a trick taking game is probably Nyet. I like the anthropomorphic Dieselpunk art. I also like the art/design in Ananzi, with the shiny cards. Thanks, Taylor, Trick, and Table!
Woahhh! That must be a fun birthday to celebrate!! And wonderful choice on Nyet! I think the makers of that production knew that they had some choice art on their hands when they made those postcards too haha. Anansi is awesome too! Cheers Spencer!!
My favorite art from a trick taking game has to be dog-tag trick. So adorable and having each card being unique is simple but a really wonderful touch. Love it!
I really like the art for Skull King. If you get the Granda Beck version, all of the special cards are art based off of him and his family. I think the art for the European release looks better, but there is a lot of charm to making an amazing trick taking game and then putting yourself, your wife and children in the game as cards.
Oh wonderful choice, Ch4pelify! I remember meeting Grandpa Beck and he told me that little tid bit about the pirate art and it always makes me smile. How sweeet!
I feel like I have to say my favorite art was in Familiar's Trouble because after I saw your video on it, I had to have it. It's one of the few games I've imported because I just had to have it. When I got it to the table, both the people playing with me commented on how much they loved the art. I like twists on must-follow and it seems interesting to have two copies of each card with the second overriding the first. Seems like it could be a fun one.
Oh yeahhh, that is easily some of my favourite art!! It actually caught my eye in a store in Japan and I did the same thing: went and bought it right away. Just so beautiful!
Vincent Dutrait did the art for Jekyll vs Hyde. He is my favourite board game artist on top of that I have a soft spot for monochromatic art, the reds greens and purples are so vibrant in that game
I appreciate having a deck with a nice card back more than the art on the card fronts. I never like it when the card backs are just the text of the game name from the box art.
Ohhh interesting take, Adam! I dig it!! It is a cool distinction of what are you looking at more, the backs of other people's hands, or the front of yours. How rad
Thanks so much for the suggestion, matje!! I've only played it once, but it really blew me away! I'm hoping to play more and get a video out for sure!! Cheers!!
