Our gov't needs to 'read the room'. They are insiting a rebellion with their constant spending, monis sent overseas, lack of accountability as to where our taxes are going. WE the people should be able to see & be assured of where our $$ is going. Stop prop ups to CBC & other corporations. $42 milion spent for 60 gov't positions for gun buybacks & not ONE gun has been turned in. Give yourself a shake Trudeau & show us the numbers. The deficit this year will be a little less than the cost of servicing the debt so they will borrow the money to pay the interest on the debt. That seems like good financial policy and all Canadians should try to do this and see how that works out. It’s possible that the best course of action for Canadians would be to stop paying off our loans, mortgages, credit cards and bills. Hold on to the money that would go for all those things and then stop going to work for a couple of weeks in a general strike. We could take the government down and if they don’t call an election we could take the country down. The banks would have a completely meltdown if they didn’t have any money coming in. If only people could come together we could make some serious changes in the way we live.

If you want the working and low income families to sacrifice to fight climate change, first, politicians should cut their wage and pension by 70 % and no raise until we meet the climate target, and top 10% income earners should be taxed to the point where they can barely afford their luxury yacht and cottage. That is only fair and only way. Most working families scraping for rent, mortgage and grocery bills with jacked up prices of everything. Only privileged ones can easily suggest that we should sacrifice when they don't know what it's like for working families in this highly inflated economy.

8:54 BS. Businesses in Canada want designer labour and don't want to train new workers or invest in better technology to improve output and raise wages, simply because managers and senior staff are too worried about their job security and the new hires "outperforming" them. And god forbid you mention trickle-down economic policy as we know that doesn't work - the very reason we're here largely has to do with that school of thinking and it's embarrassing that more of it is being proposed. Both of these people are rather out of touch with the realities of the Canadian economy. The host could very well be playing devil's advocate but even then, his arguments are weak and only scratch the surface of what's really behind what he's saying. Goldy Hyder on the other hand, has some okay ideas but for the most part, is going to turn Canada into a paradise for the business elites while leaving scraps to the average Canadian, at the expense of the average Canadian. Weather that's intentional or unintentional is up for debate. We give tax breaks to businesses a little too often, almost to the point we're bribing them to just follow the damn law. It's time Canadians have had enough and introduce crown corporations in almost every single industry to keep these businesses in check while reaping in the profits - in other words, following Goldy's advice and getting new revenue streams.

Private capital will gouge the government whatever amount they want their executive payrolls (look at the Ottawa LRT and SNC/RTG) to increase. The Nordic countries are wealthy. It's much easier to invest in people when the funds are there. These governments do cut back spending when times are tough. Everyone wants to be like Sweden... Sweden did not become wealthy through social democracy, big government and a large welfare state. It developed economically by adopting free-market policies in the late 19th century and early 20th century. There's a strong culture of encouraging entrepreneurship and innovation.

Putin: New World Order
