The primary demand for this diminutive shell is from customers trying to increase magazine capacity, though Federal doesn’t currently recommend using the Shorty in anything besides a double barrel to avoid cycling or ejecting issues.
I cant wait to get mine! Plan on running some slugs and some buck shot for personal defense on my Kel-Tec KSG 12 Gauge. Thats 11+11+1 😬😬😬 a Shotty with 22 rounds in 26.1 inches with a pistol grip is quiet nice.
These still DO NOT work in pumps or autos. The problem is the rolled crimp unrolls unevenly after firing. This VERY effectively wedges the shell in the chamber. It will lock up your action until you slam the butt of the gun into something while holding the pump. Some may know this process as the combat clearing procedure for a locked up 870. To be clear, you can eject maybe 1 out of 5 normally. Aguila mini shells cycle fine. They have a standard folded crimp. I could care less about Aguila but they do work. Tried them both in Remington, Winchester and Mossberg. Both good and bad Results were consistent in all guns. Note: if your breech loader does not have a really strong ejector you may need a good pocket knife to pry the Federal shells out of your gun, either that or take a range rod to push them out from the muzzle.
