Fed is powerless. They control only one rate (fed funds rate). The fed funds rate has been stable for most of the year. Meanwhile, 30 yr fixed rate mortgage rates have surged and bounced all over.

I was at the grocery store today and just looked at a 12 pack of Coke and it was $9.99 that is an 80% increase over just a few years ago,my gas utility company just informed me they are going to increase rates 10.25% and my electric utility increased over 17% with 2 rate hikes in the last 2 years..inflation for most of what we buy is over 15% and NOT 3.2%...that 3.2% is a lie.

I just got s message this morning from my dispatcher that the trucking company I was working is closing, going bankrupt that he saved my number if goes somewhere else he can call me. Now Im picking up the last load from Yuma AZ to Chicago IL then bring the truck back to the yard after 8 years working for the company. There’s nothing good about this economy, I don’t know where Powell gets the data from😢

There is no way only the fed can fix inflation. Too many pieces in play: 1.) Corp greed causing inflation 2.) People who don't stop spending even though they don't have it. (this would force companies to lower prices) 3.) Govt spending like there is no tomorrow. Personally its about time this economy reward savers. Too many people think that 0% is the norm...it shouldn't be.

The economy is the crapper. The federal government is running deficits at over 6% of GDP and we have 2% GDP growth. That’s a fiscal stimulus of over 4% of GDP. If the economy was thriving, they would balance the budget.

@@DJSolistica Yes, because they are utilizing U-3 to calculate unemployment. If you looked into U-6; it would be more like 18%. Gig jobs and Part time jobs are the current market. The jobs being created are primarily ghost jobs being perpetuated to commit unemployment insurance fraud by large companies. You can't prove it because they use 'interview quotas' to give the illusion of the job's existence and also so they can maintain them as 'vacancies'. I'm not joking, try applying for any job. FedEx and Amazon removed their warehousing posts in Columbus, OH for the first time in 12 years. I feel really bad for young people or those fresh out of college/HS.

Most of my generation got abosoltely shafted. Most of us did everything right. Got the degeree we were told to get. Got the job we were told to get with said degree. Now just as most of us were just on the cusp of being prospective homeowners the rug got pulled out from underneath us. We're stuck paying obnoxious amounts in rent even outside of cities. Saddled with tens of thousands of dollars in debt that were now paying on again( yeah yeah i know we signed the contract etc etc. Save yourselves the time.) and now many of us have been laid off for several months and still continue to struggle to find jobs. Food costs have nearly tripled, gasoline doubled, rents up 35% cpmpared to 4 years ago . Energy prices up. We have little hope to be homeonwners anymore. Hell most of us dont even want kids because its just too expensive anymore.
