Type: Federal Signal Modulator MOD-5020
Signal: Westminster Chimes and Voice
Location: 3051 Leestown Road, Lexington, Fayette County, KY (Masterson Station Park)
First and quietest of three sirens I recorded Wednesday. Figured I would go for a 5020 as I hadn't heard that specific model in person. It was pretty quiet, but neat nonetheless. Other than that it's your basic Lexington/Fayette siren test. If you listen closely at the end you can hear the drivers squealing. Enjoy!
Fayette County sirens are tested on the first Wednesday of each month at 10AM, if the test cannot be conducted at that time it is pushed back to 7PM the same day.

@@radargeekwx It is live PA, that's why it sounds muffled and why you can hear the end of transmission sound once the message is done. This is what text to speech sounds like thru Commander. Yes it may be a canned message that they don't have to type in every test, but it's evident by the annunciation it is computer generated. There are other videos of this same system doing other messages where it's even clearer. Have your facts straight before picking apart someone else's answer.

@@dinkindane Because the messgae will sound the same, every single time. Commander Text to speech uses this same voice. The test message is pre-programmed, so yes it will be the same every time.

Nice video! The only place I first saw these was Ocean City, Sea Isle, and Stone Harbor NJ. But I didn't know that,they were in other areas as well, that's actually really cool! I love the tone of it, nice sound and not loud at all. Nice tune! The others in the places I mentioned always go off around noon.

Every modulator 5020 in lexington was replaced with whelen 2904s but they can sound off federal signal chimes

recently, there was a severe thunderstorm warning in lexington, and the chimes that I heard, probably came from woodland park as it's closer to where I live other than the old whelen siren on the parking garage. I could only barely here the voice, but I could hear the chimes inside my house though. The power did end up going out for an hour or so unfortunately :/ .

Interesting. Did you hear the drivers turn off ever afterwards? I know there was another video where they started polling afterwards (If there is 30 seconds of dead air live PA will cancel itself) and there was FSK blaring across the channel and thus over the sirens.
