This excellent display, representing some of the Federal Q2 Siren's family of previously used emergency warning devices, It was put together by Jerry Hope, an outstanding member of Signal 51 Group, member of Caddo Parish Fire District 6 where he is an EMT-B, and a member of the Shreveport Fire Dept. Fire Corps. He has been invited several times to place his "Emergency Warning Devices Display" on exhibit at several fire related events, such as, fire chief conventions, antique fire apparatus shows and fire buff meetings and at fire department banquets.

Great display of a bit of history. FYI the rear red lense on the sirens is the same as the tail light on a 1954 Oldsmobile Ninety-Eight. Thanks for the vid.

The Federal Beacon Ray Model 17 was introduced in 1948 and received a patent in 1952. It was the original rotating warning light with sealed beams for a brighter light.

Jerry and Doc, its really nice to see the history being saved. Thanks for all you have done. The American La France Century Series trucks have been a life long favorite for me as it was the first truck I drove when I started out. Great videos thanks for making them.

@thecatyoukai Palm Beach Gardens has Q's on every truck they have. Even the Chief Vehicles

IA think they aught to install all these on all emergengy vehicals. not just fire trucks, but on ambulances and police cars to. All that noise woukd be a good atention getter. Yes they may have howler sirens but the howler along with all those mechanical sirens would be a goog attention getter and make people pull over.

cool sirens, but the european hi-lo signal wasn't very typical european. Very typical electronic hi-lo in Europe are Hella RTK 6-SL, Pintsch Bamag TOPas or Hänsch DBS. Other very often used sirens are the air-pressured hi-lo and also wail/yelp in many variations, (air)horn and sometimes also Rumbler

Hey Zaff, ever heard of the Super Chief siren? MUCH better than the Q and costs a lot less!

@zaffdoc As I said before, very impressive display and one you should be proud of. I cannot imagine the time, effort and expense that was put into it. Really like the "control panel" Check you PM's, I would like to give you something.

This is a very good video display and I congratulate Jerry on how he has put this together but I believe he got confused with his siren descriptions.The siren second from the left is a Model 66G not a model 77. It has a 61/2" rotor.The third siren from the left is a C5G with a 71/2" rotor. The 4th siren is a 77G doubletone, not a 78. A 78 is a 77 with a Solaray light on the front. Very beautiful presentation.

Uhh Jerry? If you happen to have an extra Q (maybe a couple of lights too), Doc needs them on his car so he can slide through traffic and not have to stop for those pesky traffic lights. Just hate when his videos have to stop because of a traffic light. :)))

"it's not a real fire truck unless it has a Q on it." And that's coming from a "real" firefighter? The type of siren is one of the least important aspects of a fire truck. Firefighting is about saving lives and putting out fires, not about how to make a "real" fire truck.
