@TboltHurricane He has single phase blowers for both of his 1003s. Jeb won't sell either of his right now, because they're going to be used with two matching heads to be installed in a nearby town sometime in the near future.
@promod400exridr - Are you gonna install it outside your house? Once You Get a Blower (Ask Jeb he's got a couple) and try and get a SiraTrol and see If the town can give you the frequency for it to be activated with the rest of the system.
@TboltHurricane Noo haha I mean Rick has blowers for both of his 1003s. Jeb also has two blowers but they're from old A2 series 1000ATs, and both have heads that will be reinstalled again soon.
hey dude nice vid but why didn't you do the alert call? oh I am building a homemade AR timer so far I have only got the test button wired up to my air raid siren but I need a timer for my alert and attack so could you help me find a timer
@promod400exridr :D Isn't there two or three panels for the 1003 model. I know for the 1000 and 1000T, there's the timer and the motor starters. But isn't there one more panel for the 1003? I'll try and find something.
Modulator runs the hi/lo flasher module or "eddy wheel" as some people call it. The tone 1 switch activates one solenoid, and tone 2 activates the other. Those switches are all there for testing/maintenance purposes. They are all normally set to automatic so it's ready to go when the fire button is pushed on the AF timer. What is nice though, is when the siren is blaring away, I can flip both the tone 1 and tone 2 switches to "test" to completely mute the siren.
Thanks. I don't really like the alert call so I didn't do one. AR/AF timers pop up every once in a while on eBay. Just keep your eyes peeled. I don't know where there any for sale at the moment...
@cheetawolf As far as I know, all Thunderbolts have belt driven rotators...In the 2001 they upgraded to direct drive. My 1003s are both B's for sure though...it says so on the tags and every motor is single phase.
@AKSoapy29 You have to do some research, little man! The RCM3 panel controls the flashing of the solenoids. The solenoids are mounted inside the "bowtie" that goes between the horn and stator housing. My AF timer, when you push the "fire" button, triggers the RCM3 panel to flash the solenoids back and forth to produce the hi/lo signal. The different tones are because of a 5/6 port chopper, and the solenoids alternately cover up one set of ports in a hi/lo wail.
You could barely hear this outside my house. It helped being in the basement. The only time I set one off outside (within city limits) was totally accidental...the gas powered 3T22 that I rigged up, well, I was testing a couple of functions when the governor decided to pull itself wide open and stay there. Had to pull the spark plug wire to get it to shut down. Fricken A. I pushed it all in the garage and closed up quicker than ever! Cops never showed though thank goodness.
+Kleneu66 this particular one came from eBay. Government auctions, Craigslist, and "the siren board" (online forum) are all good places to look also. I've also bought sirens from companies that remove old sirens and install new ones.
Alright dude, stay tuned! The Thunderbolt is all wired up in my theater room now, so I can go throw the switch and push the button whenever I feel the need to generate massive amounts of noise. I'll make an alert vid soon enough.
@soccerdude7330 This one is actually the '78. That's interesting though! Maybe it's a problem with Thunderbolts '78 and on...lol. I should run my '87 up on L5 some time and see what it sounds like.
There's an an additional cam wheel in the AF timer that is responsible for that. After this video, I removed the cam wheel, so now it produces a steady hi/lo signal. The wheel can be put back in very easily though, so I did not ruin anything by doing that.
Scott Gibson (A) because I didn't wanna drag an almost 600 pound blower down the stairs in my house. (B) because I did not need it THAT loud. I do have the original single phase blower though.
cool sorry for being such an ass... steady tone is just kind of a childhood thing u know? and havn't found a video up of someone running a personal thunderbolt inside for an alert... (i guess alert must only be an outside thing for some...)
attack???? and no steady at all???? fuck... i grew up on that... really wish you would have done steady. attack mode... you hear everyday from a siren... police fire ambulance give it a break... if the rig is still set up or if u have one already lets hear some alert!!!!! tired of the attack tone...
