Roger Federer faced David Ferrer 17 times and didn't lose a single time! I made this highlights reel of their last ever meeting, which took place in Montreal back in 2017. Federer fought back and won in three straight sets. He eventually lost in the final to Zverev.

Federer, Sampras and Agassi were the epitome of tennis for me

He injured his back in this match even though he got a little bit better in the following matches until Zverev. A shame because this meant skipping Cincinnati, a terrible level at the USO and the loss of chances of ending the year at world number 1.

I still think Roger is number 1 in 2017. Rafa had additional points from clay which Roger didnt.

So annoying what happened to him that summer during the NA HC swing. YE not as much of a biggie as the lost opportunity to win USO and get the record.

@earl8295 28 дней назад
@@mantaishere He was very unlucky for the past 10 years or so, that one stupid virus in 2008 took away his rhythm. Still manages to cause problems on Rafa and Novak, its good enough already.

@@earl8295 Not sure you can have 10 years' worth of misfortune, but certainly unlucky for some periods along the way post-2012 for the most part, I'd say.

@@mantaishere i agree that was worse. Having played healthy at the level of AO or WB he would have definitely won the USO and that would mean another slam there after so many years, 3 in the same year, etc Huge opportunity missed.

8:50 I wish Roger could keep doing that dangerous backhand. This would definitely cause damage to Rafa (AO 2017) and Novak (USO 2015 2nd set's set point).

Why you got to do my boo David like that with that title? LOL! Poor guy. I remember once Agassi said something like mentally playing Roger was a challenge because you never knew what he was going to do. That most guys have patterns they go to - but Roger had so many options that there's no way to calculate it all in a split second. That's what I always saw with Ferrer. He could hang...until Roger upped the ante. Then it was all over for David...and most other guys.

This man Federer plays tennis the way it ought to be played...An artist on the court. Sports is meant to be a spectacle for the fans and thats what Federer brings to the table more than anyone in the history of the game.

My takeaway from this is that "grunting" is learned and unnecessary.

if roger managed to stay healthy at the end of 2017, he would have won tour finals for sure. sadly his back issues finally made him retire

Can’t stand players that grunt on every shot. It is so obviously cheating and meant to put the opponent off. Nadal is the king of this cheating tactic.

Hitting a stroke (that is, twisting the torso region) while exhaling provides greater strength and flexibility which improves shot velocity and placement. Exhaling with force often produces vocalization of some sort. Get over it...
