Remarkable that from 1999-2010, Federer won the 1st two sets of a Grand Slam match and let it go to 5 sets in 3 matches (won all 3). In 2011, he did this in 3 matches and lost two of them.
age 30 is a huge turning point for athletes at around 30, the speed of your muscle loss really starts to pick up for Federer, it's happens around 2010~2011 for Nadal, it's 2015~2016 for Djokovic, it's 2017 Nadal and Djokovic are fortunate in the sense that the generation after them aren't challenging them as much so they can still win big titles but even then, you can clearly tell they're a lot less explosive and consistent
@@lotus630 Can't say about Rafa but Novak is still amongst top 3 movers on the court and his court coverage is second to none. As for age, Novak has won 8 slams (so far) post 30. Most top players won't ever win 8 slams in their entire career
@@utkarshpant5297 yes, but not all slam titles are equal if you look at the way Novak has played, it's very clear he's not as good as he was before 30 he won 3 slams a year in both 2011 and 2021, but he's much better in 2011
Eh shows how confidence is a huge thing too. Federer had zero wins and 2 losses against Simon at the time of this match. And the other two matches against Djokovic and Tsonga took advantage of a Federer who for the first time since 2003 was not defending of any slam! Aside from the 2011 French open semifinal, for a few years Federer really struggled with closing out big matches which technically started the year before after he won AO 2010.
@Lotus Thank you for saying this. Roger had the younger guys(Rafa, Novak, Murray etc.), who could go toe to toe with him but it's not the other way around.
It's interesting that Roger almost blow the two sets' lead in this match but unfortunately for us fans, it happened in Wimbledon and Us Open 2011...Still a good year for him but some though losses.
@@viveknamikaze761 Tbf he did have a perfect ending to the season where he won all Paris Basel and London so that was a good consolation too. 2016 would definitely be the hardest season to remember as a Fed fan
Funny thing is that what you named as SD, I thought was the HD part :)) the SD quality is also great! Thanks again for this match - you made me very happy today!
He has more spin on his 2nd serves, better BH and more margin overall with the 97…. Was a good change as he got slower…his FH and slice BH were better with the 90
Hi Ertugrul, match already requested but any match of this edition is impossible to upload here or on dailymotion... recently i uploaded the matches versus Devvarman and Tsonga to mega, if you are interested i can report the links also here.
