Recipe:
Lentils:
1. Soak red lentil, split yellow lentil, split chickpea lentil in water for 30 mins
2. Whack in a pressure cooker to boil for 30 mins
Masala:
1. Fry together ghee, cumin, chilli & bay leaves
2. Add in red onions when cumin seeds spit
3. Add in ginger / garlic when onions have softened
4. Then add in your powders: coriander, cumin, turmeric, chilli & fenugreek
5. When cooked down a bit, add in tomatoes until the whole thing becomes a pulp
Mix the lentils with the masala and stir. Add water as desired to get your preferred consistency.
Tempering:
Fry ghee, chilli, cumin & garlic together and drizzle on top of the daal.

one thing when you are cooking the spices with tomato and onion keep the flame low and slow and cook them until the oil separates out , this is a really crucial step in indian cooking that lot of people miss out that makes the dishes taste less or even rawish and bland .

Yes tomato, onion etc shud be sauted well till oil seperates or it tastes raw n not good. Also while tempering cumin seeds and mustard seeds be careful coz they can burn easily. Right way is heat oil on medium. Keep hand on top of vessel, if hand feels hot means oil is hot. Add cumin or mustard till they crackle. Once they crackle add veggies immediately or cumin might turn black. Reduce the flame to medium to low n cook rest veggies till oil seperates

It looks AMAZING!!!! Indian is my favorite cuisine, ever!!! I'm so sorry to hear about your Crohn's! I've had gut issues as well, ever since I was 14, that doctors can't figure out. These recipes could really help that issue, and, I think, help a lot of people! I would really love to see him start doing them as longer videos for that reason! Whatever he does though, I'm certainly grateful for them! I really wish you all the best with your Crohn's disease, and hope that you're living an awesome, truly healthy life, even in spite of your condition! ❤️🙏🏼

Oh, wow! You are a GODSEND!!! Is there any possibility you could please start making this as a series of longer videos, explaining the entire recipe, and why each ingredient is so good for gut health? I have had a chronic condition ever since I was about 14 (I'm now 45!) that doctors have not been able to figure out, but for reasons too lengthy to explain here, both they and I think is gut related. These recipes could just be the answer I'm looking for to get my gut back in shape, & cure my condition! They will certainly help it, that's for sure! I really think they could help a lot of people, actually. This video was awesome, and deeply appreciated, but when I really want/need to understand, a short is a bit too compressed for me to really understand everything properly, and I would love to really get hands on making these! I've saved this one in a playlist folder I just created specifically for these recipes, and will definitely be making them! I would so LOVE to see more! Regardless of whether they become a full length video series or remain shorts, thank you SO much for them, and for everything that you do for us!
