Hi! I am Erica Lucas, and this channel focuses on providing decluttering inspiration, organization ideas, and real-life videos about my minimalism journey, slow living, and simple living.
Decluttering one drawer, one cabinet, or one space at a time makes it easier to manage stuff on daily basis. To start decluttering, I empty out the space, decide what I want to keep, then evaluate the unchosen items for decluttering, donation, keep, or trash. Join me as I declutter, organize, and our home in this video today!

I find these thinking sessions so incredibly helpful. Rather than watch someone (sped up) decluttering and not hearing the though behind doesn't help me with decluttering. Love your channel Erica!!!!!!

I watch numerous channels on decluttering or resetting now including Dawn, Cass, Dana, hoarders heart ect, and yet your videos are the only ones which usually prompt me to clean, reset or even make my bed. Idk I think I like listening to your voice and the videos make it easy to naturally body double. I’m a RU-vid junkie and I often find it hard to not “watch” a video unless it’s bible audio. Most videos prevent me from doing something as they play but yours motivate me to work when they play. Appreciate it Erica

Great advice, Erica. The hall coat hooks looked so much neater with the reduced number of coat choices. Your bathroom vanity unit and linen closet looked so well organised and clean too.

I love ❤❤❤ these short decluttering videos that target areas we can overlook. The best thing I learned from your videos is decluttering as your doing daily chores, you also make decisions about what is not working and how to fix that, example the kids sunglasses and Kleenex 😵‍💫 if the changes don’t work, you fix it to help with frustration, you share decluttering is a work in progress! Thanks

Another good video, Erica! I love (love!) how you talk out loud so we can "see" you making decisions and why you are deciding to do what you do. Love it. I also loved your playfulness during the cleaning (you can kick high!)

You're a wise parent. It's good to respect our children, value their opinions, but it's also good to recognize when parents act like parents and make decisions. There are children who have a hard time getting rid of items that no longer fit physically, or perhaps are not age appropriate. A few momentos of childhood do remain, but at times adult reasoning is best.

You know what I'm having trouble decluttering? The glass jars, wicker baskets, metal tins and all the really nice containers (that are now empty).....what to do what to do....they are in every room, just sitting empty waiting.

Oh Erica, I do that too, I keep the ribbons that come with the linens thinking that they will be very useful one day… and then I end up giving them up a few months later. Why do I even keep them in the first place when I’ve never ever used them! I love how human brains work sometimes. Love your videos 😊

Wow, the Checklist is a great idea! For me and the kids. Every morning it’s up to me to sort everything out - they’re small, it’s OK, but I usually forget half of the things and have to go back fetching something every second day.

I've always washed sheets and put them back on the bed. My MIL laughed when I put two sets of bath towels on our bridal registry. I always washed the towels and put them back up. I just (finally) threw away a ton of ribbons that had been around linens. That poncho is beautiful! ❤

Thank you Erica, I LOVE these videos, and this one especially where you work through a decision and then work through why you're hanging onto that folder...and it's ok. You see it, you feel it, you accept it. It's ok to hang on...for now. Just one question. Why are the season signs in the dog bag? I thought you had crates for each season? Or am I missing what they were?

I have an extra set of sheets for every bed.. cause we use them. I doe use them. I remake the bed before the washingmachine is done. Also i hang most of our laundry to dry and that is only a one day thing for 3 months a year.

Yes I agree, I only have 1 large bath towel for myself and 2 for husband since I only do laundry once per week and he works construction and needs a second towel. We use same towel until washing is done, then washed and back out again. So much easier.

I would add two things: one a trash can by the front door. It doesn't have to be large. A cute decorative one would work. It might help with the trash that was there. The other, make sure you have extra sheets for Rebecca's bed. In a few years, there could be some periods that begin during the night that require a new set of sheets.

That was a good decision, to put the tissue packs in the car, that's where you need them, right? Years ago, I put mine in the medicine cabinet because tissue = runy nose. I don't have allergies. I might get a cold once a year. I don't need them. I donated them.

When my kids were little I always had two bottom sheets on their beds or crib with a pad between. If there was an accident in the middle of the night you can peel off the wrecked sheets and you are good to go. I folded the extra top sheet and pillowcase and out the under the pad-pillowcase at the top and sheet at the bottom. There’s nothing worse than having a sick kid and having to park them somewhere while you run to find sheets.

every so often I rag off older towels into cleaning cloths and I keep some for pets etc too. got more towels and clothes recently so ragged off some. If I feel over run with older towels I sometimes donate them to vets, rescues or the humane society. or send ragged off stuff to family to use for cleaning cloths- I cut up the clothing and towels- throw out the cut offs. some older sheets are used in the car when we get mulch or dirt, under the tarp, also a tip from my mil when frost hits you cover flowerbeds with cotton sheets to protect the plants... remove them in the morning. so some old sheets are now for outside use only. we hang our towels as well but we don't have a linen closet, took a while to figure out a plan for them rather then in a heap someplace...hate not having one...I rotate the clean ones as they get used, currently in use also get hung up. also have tons of extra towels n sheets...lots of pets and I hang dry everything- seasonal sets and every day ones. we've had disasters which ate up all our sheets or towels before, so I con't to do for the JIC times. ( need to get the hydro redone to hook up the drier, but will still keep extras)

I do the same thing with towels 😂 I forgot you did that, so in this latest depressive episode I had to remind myself that I didn't need to rotate my towels, just wash the two I use. Made going to my laundry center a much more pleasant experience! One needs to get a little excited about getting their *entire* comfy clothes/pjs washed! 😂😂 Tip ❤ I have premium cotton t-shirts (soft) that I can wear for anything, as long as it's not fancy. Pink Floyd is good for the whole day 😂 After the shower, out walking around, out getting Tex-Mex, and then being a comfy pj top.

I moved a year ago and did a massive decluttering and still I moved too much 😮. I moved from a small space to a bigger space yet it was still too much. Not easy to part with things but it was an expensive move as I did long distance move and was thankful for how much I let go of, just wished I’d been more ruthless!
