@@Hellraiser603 Yeah, it does sound like a weird innuendo but I'm serious. The reason why big cats roar instead of meow is not because their vocal cords are bigger, but because their vocal cords are more flexible. Small cats meow because their vocal cords are stiffer. Cougars are about as big as leopards but they meow while leopards roar.
Because it's nothing serious. They were not fighting or challenging each other or anything they were just simply doing a call back like are you still over there yes I'm still over here or I tell him to turn in yeah good night good night type thing so there's no reason to be up and standing. I mean when we're casually talking to one another or casually saying hi across the way to a friend we don't get up and all in each other's faces for it.
I was visiting a local zoo many years ago and was excited to see the big male lion lounging in the front of the enclosure. The lion was maybe 10 feet away on the other side. As I was snapping photos, he let out a roar. Wow! That close the roar literally sent shivers up and down my body and I'm sure the hair was standing up on the back of my neck. It was quite awesome!
I can still remember going to the zoo, when I was 10 years old. As we got out the car and was walking towards the entrance, a lion started to roar. The enclosure was way in the back of the zoo but the vibrations were making the entrance GATE SHAKE!!!!! 😮
When I was about 12 or so I visited the zoo on vacation, I think it was the Denver one. It was one with the tunnel that goes through the enclosure so you can feel like you're with them. Windows were like 6 in. plexiglass. There were a lot of people there because it was feeding time and we wanted to get a good look. When they gave the meat to the male lion, he roared. I don't know if I can describe it well enough. Everyone froze in place, you could feel the sound in your bones. The windows vibrated and everyone crouched down, almost in unison. Almost no one even screamed, it was such a primal, instinctive fear. After that like half the people stampeded out and the babies and kids started crying ect, but that moment will always stick with me.
Thank you for sharing that experience with us. That is an experience that few of us will ever have (unless we go to a zoo, like that), so you sharing that with us "took us there" to have an idea of what it must have been like. That "freezing" in place is what can happen, when we experience extreme fear. [That "freezing" in place, and not being able to move, has happened to me, when I was about to be attacked (the first of two times) by I-don't-know-who, so I can relate to that part (ie., the fear part) of your experience.]
You have not heard a lions roar until you've witnessed their roar in person. A simple purr makes the ground vibrate. Once you've experienced that then you can believe that their roar is heard from miles away.
@@admiralsnackbar69 I couldn't copy the link but look this up, "big cat talk! - roar, purr, meow" 1:15 Wtf is that? Seriously, is that a purr or what is it? That's the sound I was referring to.
@@popeyesailor8744 makes sense youd call it a purr, but lions dont technically "purr" since there are purrers and roarers. Sounds silly, but if they can roar then they cant purr. Mountain lions can purr, and let me tell you that purr when you're in the woods is beyond scary.
@@Peterisheree yes it makes sense because it sounds like a purr and it is a cat after all. But I guess what you're is if it quacks like a duck, and it walks like a duck, it must.... it must be a not a duck. The point though, was on the volume and distance a lions roar can be heard.
Well people deal with wild jaguars camping outside their villager house in stuff right now so I don't really need to imagine I've seen how they live dealing with it they've made videos and shit... and Mostly you don't live next door to where the lions live. so being neighbours isn't that big of a problem. and also people are really good at building fences which prevent the meandering lions from getting into the town Humans can plan ahead bigger better fences, spears, pitfalls, arrows, im sry but I don't have a passive fear of lion tigers and bears humans r apex unless u add rules like no weapons and unprepared....lions tigers and bears were cought hunted killed by hand and shipped 1000s of miles during roman times for spectator sport. Yes its roar is deep and loud and shakes the ground but ill kill all its food dig pit falls arrow there young its bot going to uproot a whole family unless u add stipulations like not prepared
The roar of a Lion can make your whole body shake !! I've had the opportunity to be super close to one while he was roaring and that's one of the scariest and most beautiful experiences ever
People think a tigers roar is scary and it may be so over the camera but they have never heard a lion roar in person. And when you hear it in the wild, there's something about it that sends chills down your spine... I was on an expedition and we were driving back to our camp, it was approx. 9 PM and suddenly you hear this somewhat far away, high pitched roar somewhere in the distance and even though it was quite some distance away you could still feel the bass of the roar in your lungs and that's over the engine of our truck. All of us got instant goosebumps and chills down our spines, even though none of us were scared. Lion roar is something different, let me tell you.
Yeah so he can eat and torture and scare the sh&t out of animals, and then we have presidents and pedos and murderers also for the same purpose, how amazing is our god
When something is good, God is amazing and it made it, but when something is bad, is not gods fault..... I can see you all exercise consciousness. Your god is certain better than mine, but at least mine one doesnt lie or concieve or even retain anything from me or anyone. If your god alous it to happen then tecnically is its fault. Anyway the lion is still an amazing creature whether was made by god or some fart from space.
I once heard a lion roar in real life and it was one of the most beautiful sounds I've ever heard. The Almighty Creator has Created a world of immense beauty.
The two lions on top are having an arguement and the one on the bottom eventually jumps in telling them "Will you two just shut up. I'm trying to relax here." 😅
I've stood in front of a lion while it was on it's hind legs doing that directly at me. From 4 ft away while working on his lady's enclosure next to him. In a hallway also. That roar sends chills down your spine. If you ever get the chance to get close without getting hurt to one of these majestic creatures you should. Happy 2021 everyone around the world. Bring peace to all.
If you listen to this in person, the literal air and ground shake with the sound. It's incredible. The lions powerful roar is why it's the king of the jungle.
They were responding to roars in a different area listen at the beginning you hear roars in the distance before they start. they weren't roaring at each other🙄
Lions roar like this as a group when they hear other lions from different prides in or near their territory, anytime a lion wonders in another’s territory it’s a sign of challenge and dominance, so a pride will roar together to warn the challenger off and show there is many of them and that they are powerful.
I heard them live. Thing is, these videos don't really tell you how LOUD and savage it really sounds - these roars can be heard for miles in open spaces. Absolutely chilling if it's a dark night and this is what you have to hear, you'll be scared to another level.
