The Cumbria Way - 73 Miles from Ulverston to Carlisle.
Just over a week after completing the Dales Way I decided to get back out and take myself on another adventure and long distance hike and decided on the Cumbria Way. This time I would be solo and planned to do this over 4 days, however as you will see from video series I managed to smash this in 3 days which I'm so pleased with.
I woke in the campsite with sore feet but felt refreshed after a good nights sleep and a shower the night before. Today was another long day with great views through there central fells and Langdales to eventually reach Keswick.
I decided to keep this day shorted by stopping at Keswick and booked myself into the YHA there, which was fantastic. Managed to meet the 2 lads for food and drinks and treated them to their pints from the lovely donations I have had through Buy Me A Coffee. Thanks so much for the donations they mean a lot.
Hope you enjoy the video.

Here hare here a new sub, great channel mate got a lot to catch up on, good humour and at last someone with personality who is not afraid to be themselves, I`ve watched to many vids that without the scenery I would have turned off, Thanks. I`m building up the courage to do this walk at least before I turn 60. Chin chin👍👍

That’s awesome Dave thanks so much really appreciate that. It’s definitely a walk worth doing k really enjoyed this. Obviously take your time as this was waaaay to quick so you can take smaller legs maybe 15 miles a day and I’m sure you’ll be fine. I know I waffle and talk a lot too and maybe not for everyone but that’s what I’m like all the time and daft and laughing about so just real on here.

You must have brilliant vision to spot Kendal from the banks of Derwent Water!! lol. Round Derwent was my first fitness test after struggling with Long Covid for the previous 4 months. Great video Kris - keep on trucking

Haha I think I mean Keswick 😂😂. It’s a lovely area around Derwent isn’t it. Hope you managed to shake the long covid in the end as heard quite a few people struggled with that. Cheers Richard

Great video, Cumbria way looks like a nice trail, got my first long distance walk next month and hopefully that will kickstart for more adventures. 👍
@krisgleave
@krisgleave Год назад
Thanks Mazza. Which trail are you going again next month I’m sure you’ve mentioned it before? Cumbria way is a great one. I’d say it’s harder than the Dales Way but certainly worth it

Hi, South Downs way, it’s a good trail to start off with apparently, hopefully do it in about 5 days and hopefully enjoy the the journey. I like your contents/video’s surprised it doesn’t get more views. 👍keep up the good work.

Aah yes that’s on my list too at some point. I don’t really know much about that one but heard of it. Let me know how you get on. Quite far for me that one as I’m up in Manchester. And thank you, hopefully they’ll pick up over time as do enjoy making them and their my memories forever on there so views are just a bonus

Great armchair viewing of the Cumbria Way. Plenty of eateries and bars in Keswick. Those 2 beers did wonders for the eyesight if Kendal can be seen from Derwent Water! 😃. A thoroughly enjoyable watch. 👍

Cheers Chris, hopefully you felt like you were there haha. Yes it’s great Keswick as lots there and the YHA is amazing there. Such a good location right on the river I was really impressed. Thank you ☺️

How many ration packs did you take where’s you’re food because trust me a lot of calories are needed for such a long hike.
@krisgleave
@krisgleave 20 дней назад
I didn’t take any. On this route if I remember rightly I don’t think I even took a stove. I sometimes don’t on my long distance hikes if I know I can pick things up on route. Rather save the weight. Easy to buy at shops and snack as you go. I do always take some chocolate and protein bars and haribo to keep fuelled on the hike.

Bollocks you’ve done that walk with such minimal gear skipping along and in the timescale you’re proclaiming

@@krisgleave you’ve got nothing in your bag pal. Listen I’m not being a troll but realistically I think you’re putting people into a false sense of security. If you’d like to discuss this elsewhere rather than your channel then that’s fine
@krisgleave

@@adamkoz6358 I don’t need to discuss it or explain to anyone. Watch all the videos and watch others on my channel. Making claims there’s nothing in my bag. Yes…I walked it in 3 days. I have pretty lightweight gear but not the lightest and carried all my own gear. Look at my camp first night and you’ll see the gear.

@@krisgleave how heavy was your bag?
@krisgleave
@krisgleave 2 месяца назад
@@adamkoz6358 no idea now it was ages ago but I carry similar for all my long distance hikes. Only thing that really varies is food. I don’t carry excess as have a filter and only generally use one small bottle for microlights. My tent is 900g. You should learn how to word your comments.
