A very useful feature of the CF 741s is the ability to swap shaper spindles. This video shows the process of swapping out the 1/2" spindle for the 1 1/4"

Hi EB . I have just realised that I left a comment in another part of your comments, That somebody else had left , that’s good my age Great tutorial on the machine, I have just realised watching one of the other territorials of yours that the machine I’ve got is slightly different from yours mine is just the spindle moulder and the saw table, I do have all the accessories that you have got, I purchased mine back in 2005 2006 I believe, Though I did have it upgraded I had higher horsepower motors put in, I am self-taught specialist joiner cabinet maker so over the last 10 to 15 years I’ve been mainly involved in high end barn conversions, Which involved especially doors and windows. Keep up the great work and please be safe, PHIL FROM THE DARK SIDE OF THE MOULIN FRANCE.

Thank you for watching! When I purchased this machine there wasn't a lot of available information on how to use it. Felder tech support was alright but over the phone left a lot to be desired. That is one of the reasons I started this channel. I will do more walkthroughs and I have a video review/pros and cons of my experience planned. Cheers!

@@ebwoodworking Hi 👋 EB , I am now 71 years young dude retired English gentleman ha ha, I still have most of my tools, but I had to sell some Machinery back in 2019 due mainly to my female partner scamming me, I had spent all my savings and income on Two renovation projects one in UK and one in France, That is a very bad story as I am still trying to fight a case against her, As France was where we were supposed to be retiring to I decided to move here, To make sure I was covering myself legally I went to the police and went to a solicitor for advice, So this is where I am now living, My basement is now my workshop which is very small approximately 7 m x 12 m, As for my workshop back in the UK was an old grain store approximate 8 m wide at 35 m long I could drive my vehicle into it which is very good respect if it was pouring down with rain I can still load my van or unload it which ever I needed to do, Anyway going back to my work there was another piece of kit that I purchased just after I got my machine I cannot remember who makes it but I believe it’s made in Germany it’s a shroud that goes over the top of the spindle moulder that allows you to run jigs either a bearing on the main shaft or aluminium plate that is fixed to it, I would make a jig either out of plywood or MDF I will spend a lot of time on preparation on these making sure they were very very smooth then I would fit stock blocks and clamps onto them so the piece of wood that I was going to profile was well secure, Most of my clients were very high end though sometimes I had problems with some people saying why do I charge so much for doing a job or contract and then I try to explain what it cost my rent and rates and electric on my workshop, And the cost of my machinery and the main maintenance all the machinery as well, Considering I was a one-man band ha ha can’t play any instrument I wish I could, I reckon that it has cost me somewhere in the region of £70-£100,000 if you had to go and buy everything brand-new I was lucky in some cases I managed to purchase some bits of equipment secondhand then I rebuilt it. Wadkin EKA 4 head , that dates back from 50s . A very old mortising machine, from the same time period, In some cases order machines are sometimes better than new machines as they used to be made out of cast-iron which made them very heavy and more substantial, Good luck in your career, And Be Safe, Especially when it comes to your lungs and your ears are used to have a piece of of safety gear made by M3, It is quite expensive it has a air Feed mask and it is built like a crash helmet With a polycarbonate face shield and ear defenders, Especially very good if you’re doing Woodturning, I look forward to your next territorial open all goes well, PHIL FROM THE DARK SIDE OF THE MOULIN FRANCE.

This was very helpful but I’m missing something, just before you free the spindle you removed you first loosen the two levers top and bottom and then reach further in and loosen something else. Essentially a close up of you pointing out the different parts would be much appreciated. I have the spindle only version of your machine but the f700 2004, everything is identical. I thought I may need a spindle wrench to remove it but you seem to have managed without. Kind regards Sean

Hello EB! I’m a current Felder owner, 2 machines 24 years usage, thinking of buying a machine like yours. Would you be willing to share your thoughts based on your experiences? Thanks for your time.

Right on! I love my machine. I do custom woodworking by trade and even though I am a small one-man shop, I still want industrial-quality tools. This machine fits the bill. It has its quirks and there are a few things I would have liked to have known before buying, but all in all, it was a great investment. I'll make a review video for it soon. Cheers!

@@ebwoodworking thanks for your time. I am also a one man professional shop, though my primary livelihood is and has always been as a piano player. With that in mind I think sliders are in most regards safer machines, and as I’m 66 now, I’d like to maximize my enjoyment and safety the years I have left with my woodworking trade. I truly don’t expect you to enter int a never ending dialogue with me, but if you ever can find the time to note the quirks you mentioned, I’m all ears. I currently use a saw/ shaper and 12” J/P both from Felder. I run a 20” planer as a stand alone and will likely not use the thickness planer but want the upgrade to 16” jointer with helical head. There are some known improvement in your machine that I’d enjoy that aren’t on my model. Anyway, I’ll look for your review, and again, thanks for your time.

I have a Felder CF731 and I have been waiting over 2 months for basic parts after being misled a number of times over delivery dates. When a package did arrive it was a totally different part. I am bracing myself for another 2 month wait. Would I buy Felder again? Absolutely not.

I love my machine. It has some quirks, and I, too, had some issues when first setting it up. I've been wanting to do a video about the experience. Hope you got it sorted. Cheers!
