I am demonstrating how to cut down bigger trees with a clearing saw. This is not what you would use this tool for but sometimes it is convenient.

I just bought the Echo SRM 410U to clear out some overgrown areas on my property. VERY capable tool. I'd reach for the chainsaw for what you just did, but it goes to show what these things are capable of, and you definitely have the use of it mastered. Cool demo.

only if you dont understand it.. its going to kick to the right when you use the front or right side of the blade, use the left side of the blade like he was doing for most of the cutting and its just a controlled pull forward, even if you need to use the right side of the blade you just need to expect the kickback and be ready for it, it only lasts as long as the saws in the tree and if youre holding the saw properly the blade physically cant reach you.. the dangers only there when working in a team and the other person gets too close.. 10ft might look plenty far and usually is but a good kick back that wasnt expected or the operator gets put off balance and you could be swinging that blade 15ft behind you in a split second

I had a model older than this one that I love. My sister has difficulty with tools that are too heavy and she actually loved mine and found it easy to use ru-vid.comUgkx_rBCFuDW1zD6blTGhLkvAkxU657uR_lG . This is a newer model but was even lighter which she really appreciates. She enjoys it and I no longer have to go to her house to trim as she can handle it fine. Haven't used it enough to comment on the battery life but lithium batteries last longer than the old style. Being cordless makes it easy to trim the far edges of the property. The entire yard can be trimmed with one charged battery.

I once talked to a doctor who works in an area where there are a lot of lumberjacks and she told me most "cut yourself" accidents with chainsaws she saw happen cutting thin undergrowth, not bigger trees. (cutting 8 * 2cm sticks at once). I agree brushcutter are much safer. BTW, did you ever try the Stihl "Häckselmesser" very nice for thicker grass, ferns and brambles IMO.
@digbyodell2924
@digbyodell2924 6 лет назад
Ya definitely where it's thick and ya cut some and maybe don't take the time to clear, the chain can jump all over the place getting caught up in movable stems.

Guess in a pinch but using a clearing saw to fell that size looks riskier then just grabbing your saw or axe. Especially with a round blade on that large diameter tree. Really cool to see the clearing saws capabilities can be pushed further then it’s appropriate applications.
@bmandrakeeee8378
@bmandrakeeee8378 Год назад
the real danger is the tree falling in your head, but then again, this also can happen with a chainsaw. as for the machine, you have a lot of control even with kickbacks, because the shaft pipe is so long and you get a lot of leverage from those "motorcycle" handles.

Hope this helps...everyoney commenting on how dangerous a clearing saw is and the kickback? Personally I feel much more comfortable using one than a chainsaw. One, just like a chainsaw they have a kickback zone which you avoid. Once you know how the saw behaves. You're set. Plus please remember they have 3 points of contact unlike a chainsaw. Your two hands, plus the harness. If your harness is fitted properly. Not hanging stupid loose. Then there's really almost no way the saw can hit you. The blade can't get near your body because it just pivots on the harness.

It gets dull fast... 350mm carbide tipped sawblade and bend teeth like on those basic ones he used.. But once you hit a bigger rock, your blade is ruined. Still, 30 bucks for a blade that may last for much much longer than the chisel blade.
