Hey yall! 💜🥰 Please be respectful of my Aunt Charlene and the many others that struggle with different forms of Alopecia! Thanks soooo much for watching and many blessing to yall! Much love! 🥰‼️💫
@@DeeperThanHairTv you're welcome. I think with you being in Philly, state of Maryland.😇🤔 will probably be your closest one look them up on RU-vid. I'm telling you they can correct your aunt's problem beyond a thousand percent😇🍷📽️🎥📺💇🏻♀️💇🏻♀️💇🏻♀️ because she's at a great spot where hers is not as extreme she has about a good 15% of it and they can correct that it's going to run her about $6, 000 and since you are very financially secure.🎉👌🏼💰💱🍵✨😉😇😎🌬️ you can maybe cover that for her 🥰💰💇🏻♀️💯‼️😇😎 there are women that are in their sixties they're 70s and 50s that get the natural hair transplant. is just when your money is right to get it most people have it in their edges which is traction alopecia some have some of it in the center. 😎😇‼️💯🥰
Of course! If anyone comes for Ms. Charlene in the comments you got the Deeper than Hair community Family coming for them😂😂😂 well not coming for them but checkin' em! Your auntie is in the right hair hands
So how do you know if it's alopecia or if you're just going bald or using too much glue????? For instance my edges are growing but the little part behind won't and then I have a hair full of hair back. So my hair is like Uno hair, skip 1, Reversed, loose a turn, head full of hair in back😒😒😒😒😒🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️🤦🏾♀️ thnx💋❤️
Your aunt's hair looked awesome 😍 you're just amazing in the jobs that you do, it's so clear that you're passionate it what you do, everything you do you put your heart on it! I am so grateful for you share and teach us your knowledgments, thank you, (kisses from Brasil - yep! with an S hehehe 😅) 🇧🇷 😘
Should you shampoo your hair before applying the Clairol for gray color from what I read the color is supposed to take better because of the porosity after washing I've never shampooed my hair first and then applied hair color?
Thank you Aunt Charlene. So many women suffer from Alopecia. This session was very informative. Thank you for educating us in all different types of Alopecia. You are very informative and educational and know about hair care. You are definitely a blessing.
@@DK-qj7cr Haha, I have a few hairs that like to come in on my chin. Thankfully, they usually come in just one or two at a time. I will spend hours picking at them though, even if they're less than a centimeter long, just because the idea of having them bothers me and I believe I've caused scarring because of this. I think I'm so persistent about it as well is because I found out about them when one of my brothers pointed out I had a chin hair. I go to feel for it and tell me why that sucker was like, two and a half inches long? I became paranoid on how long it'd been there and who else had seen it 😂. And how did I miss it?!
I know I've been commenting all day but this video hit home. I live with traction alopecia. I grew up with self proclaimed hair stylists that braided my hair and added all kinds of stress to it. Now, as an adult, I'm ashamed of my hairline and can never seem to grow it back. It took a long time to accept it. Please, y'all don't play with your hair. Take good care of it! Edit: And thank you Aunt Charlene for being on the channel
I'm sorry that happened to you. I just don't understand how hairstylists, professional and self-proclaimed, will see these stressed and thinning hairlines and other evidence of hair loss, on their clients yet they just continue to install these braid, weaves, and gluing down lace front wigs, without saying a word?
Yes.. I lost my hair due to Traction Alopecia. I had a hair Transplant.. Now i have Edges. I went to Max Hair Transplant in Sarasota.. Best thing ever!!!
My boyfriend of 4 years left me because of my lupus.... He couldn't deal with the chronic pain throughout my body and the hair loss 😔.... I accept what happened to me but it still hurts. It still hurts a lot
I'm sorry that happened and he was a shitty person. If he left you over that that's just an awful person who wouldn't stand with you on worse scenarios. Mine left me cause I wanted to cut my long hair short. You and me don't need men like that. Trust me you'll be much better without him. I hope it'll get better soon love
At least you were able to have a relationship at one point. A lot of people are super lonely and never even date let alone have a boyfriend/girlfriend. When you think of it that way then you won't feel so bad. ❤️
Sending hugs. Hopefully you'll meet a great match and you'll get massages together and swimming and stuff. Hubby and I have had those things on our list for ages. Here's to meeting a right minded partner and having good times together.
This is what sets this hairstylist apart from everyone--she educates..I've only had 2 beauticians like her and trust me, my hair has not been the same since I moved away. I would suggest that your aunt tries to go plant-based (dr. sebi and chef ahki) and see if that helps her alopecia. Aunte Charlene is BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!! My mother's name is Charlene...she passed in 2013--best Mom EVER!!!
Thanks so much for shedding light on the various forms of alopecia! I have alopecia areata and have for many years. People tend to lump hair loss together without realizing that there are many different types and many different contributing factors (or combinations of factors). It's definitely a complex issue that can be difficult to treat. Great video as always. Aunt Charlene's hair looks beautiful. ❤️
Same! Thank you so much for your comment. Wigs have helped me feel more confident but I still don’t go out much... They said my alopecia areata was caused by extreme stress.
Thanks for sharing this story! I've been following you for a few years and you are such an inspiration! I was diagnosed with early scarring alopecia earlier this year (lost most of my crown) and decided to treat it with nutrition and changing my diet, reducing stress, etc. I'm also in menopause and have PCOS, so it has been interesting, to say the least. I eliminated dairy and added more anti-inflammatory fruits and vegetables and my hair has grown back and is thicker than ever (still a short afro cause I cut it all off right after diagnosis). I just started a RU-vid channel to share my journey and connect with other women going through the same thing. Thanks for all you do!
I have PCOS and alopecia too!! Been dealing with both for over 20 years with NO marked help from doctors. I will definitely be taking a look at your videos ASAP girl!!
I like this lady, this sister, this stylist! She doesn't see hair loss and say "hey, I'll just grab my scissors and start cutting!" She knows OPTIONS... and that is great Customer Service!
True!! Most so-called "hair care pros" don't have the depth of knowledge, nor the compassion she exhibits. I'd fly to wherever she is to get my hair cared for by her.
One thing about hair loss that cannot be controlled is learning to deal with it emotionally. Just got to let things go and make do with what you got and don’t stress. Aunt has a beautiful head of hair and is maintaining it wonderfully.
Gratitude for having this discussion and educating us about the various forms of alopecia. I never knew there were varying forms until seeing this video.
I had a horrible alopecia bald spot that came from stress. But it helped to take a multivitamin along with a hair vitamin, wearing protective styles (such has sewing done WELL and not tight) getting sleep, drinking water, eating healthy and exceeding. Not only did it help my hair but my WHOLE PERSON! But I'm not a professional so I feel bad for speaking on this😬😬🤐🤐🤐
@@DeeperThanHairTv I too had stress spot for a few years because of my previous job. It would itch quite a bit and developed a bald spot and the hair around it grew in rough. Eventually I cut the rough part off first because it kept braking off then after praying, I was led to use my shampoo brush on that spot to stimulate blood flow for about 10 minutes a day and now it's growing in nicely!!
I worked with someone who's boss was so awful she lost her hair on the back of her head. After a few weeks she left and never came back. she called me and told me it started growing back a few months later.
3 of my kids have alopecia and other kids and even adults can be so cruel...Thank u so much for using this video to also educate others about alopecia and what causes it...Your auntie is beautiful!!
@@animebabe539 It does take time. I just looked for answers and found biotin and then trusted the process and knew it would work. There was many months I had to use a coloured hair spray to conceal the spot which made me feel better in the short term. But when I started focusing on inner nutrition, good sleep etc it started to grow back and now I have very healthy hair. Microneedling as well helped on the area I believe but honestly i think it was mainly the prioritising rest and biotin. :)
Fall 2020 I had extreme Covid and a side effect was hair shedding. My hair got very thin. My heart goes out to anyone with thinning, shedding or alopecia. It is so traumatic. But you are still beautiful and still powerful. All my love and support to you all.
This was very informative. I have thinning in the front as well has a round half dollar size spot on the crown. So thank Auntie Charlene for volunteering. I have a hair dresser who uses peppermint mint oil.I see difference in the front but not so much on the crown. Next for me is the diet change.
Highly recommend that you see a dermatologist. If you find one enough understands our hair (I was looking for a looonnnggg time) , there might be some options to stop the spread and start regrowth. I was diagnosed with two forms of alopecia a few months ago and because I went “early” I have treatment options and am seeing regrowth. :)
MD here there are a lot of treatments for hair loss including platelet rich plasma which is very effective. Seeing a dermatologist is key especially before scarring occurs.
Nice of you to comment...I went to dermatologist and got steroid injections on the spot. Two years, it got worse before better. I really think whatevers causing it (stress, diet, trauma) has to run its course before treatments will be effective. I took a break from the shots and finally the last 6 months of shots the hair responded well and is looking full again. I do think the shots are important to keep the follicles active and awake.
Myraisins1 most treatments you get from the doctor are temporary solutions. Often, they don’t actually “cure you” if you have to keep up with the treatment until you die.
Her hair looks very healthy after the trim and that style is very pretty 😊 I know the onion juice sounds awful but trust me it works! My bald spots started growing back within a month. My hair got thicker and the length has been unbelievable! I also drink oregano, rosemary, clove and fenugreek tea and I apply it to my hair every other day along with maintaining a plant based diet. I wear protective styles, mainly 2 strand Twists or corn rows.
Thank you Aunt Charlene for allowing us to go on this journey with you. You are beautiful and your hair came out amazing. Kee your explanations are always so thorough. I appreciate all that you do. If I'm ever in Philly, I will be looking you up.
I am a former cosmetology instructor. I really enjoyed your video today. Alopecia is a difficult one to explain but I thought you did a very good job. And of course Aunt Charlene's hair turnt out looking gorgeous.
I am a PA State Licensed Cosmetologist and daughter of a Late Cosmetologist and Grand daughter of a Cosmetologist Instructor. I too thought she did an excellent job on the insight of Alopecia and it’s various forms.
androgenic alopecia is tough! i’m only 19 but i found out i have it when i was 15 and it’s a struggle!! constantly trying to hide the thinning with color, adding hair where it has thinned, and being scared to try new styles out of fear of people pointing it out is something we think about daily. thank you for talking about it and aunt charlene looks incredible!! love your channel so much and love learning about all different hair types/curls/products/methods
It’s so relieving to hear people in my age group being affected by hair loss. Since chemo,my hair has been thinning and its such a shock to your image seeing your appearance change. I wish more people talked about teenage or young age hair loss more. Thanks and you rock your hair.
Her hair turned out beautiful! I used to have hair down my back, until I started taking medication. I used to spend a lot of time caring for my hair. But when my hair started falling, I got frustrated and tried of seeing my scalp so I just gave up. I slapped a wig on, took a deep breath and braved on.
Hi Aunt Charlene, you can’t imagine how much strength and courage you just spread in the community! You being brave enough to share your story will make it possible for others to not give up!
If she is self conscious about her spot, she can try what my mother-in-law just got. Her hair loss was right on top - and the hair that was there would break off at around 1-2" long (while the rest of her hair would grow only to her shoulders and then stop) She went to this place that plucked out a few strands of her hair and sent it out to a lab. Where they matched texture / color / structure. And them they found similar hair and made a little hairpiece. Now every 6 to 8 weeks she just goes back to the salon where they will remove the hairpiece, wash her scalp and natural hair, re-glue the hairpiece in place, and then trim her hair that has grown to blend in with her hairpiece again. She looks amazing and so confident. It's only been 2 weeks - she said at first it was weird and uncomfortable, but now she's getting use to it.
I wouldn't recommend any individual with alopecia using any form of glue to the hair. It will take out what the individual has. Most of people that suffer from some forms of alopecia have suffered because of hair glues, wigs etc. I think the topik is the safest way to go because it's not doing any harm and you can comb, brush and wash out without it removing hair follicles.
@@justirisha7992 I was thinking the same thing, but not all forms of Alopecia is caused by wigs, etc. If it's permanent hair loss, the glue hair piece might be the only option if that's the case.
Thanks Aunt Charlene for wanting to be on Deeper than Hair, giving Kee a reason to educate us on Alopecia. We appreciate you, and your hair turned out really pretty.
Listen fellow ladies that struggle with alopecia: Please drop something off your hands and mind when your really stressed. Its ok to drop something hun, its gonna be ok!
Yes, and make sure your getting enough nutrients/ vitamins in your diet. Hair loss can be caused by loads of things including: stress, bad eating habits, lack of important vitamins, etc. Take care of your mental and physical health y’all.
Her hair looks absolutely amazing!!! The transformation was inspirational, I'm sure she's so much happier now that a big insecurity is more taken care of.
I also have alopecia, I had it 12 years. Last year I shaved it bald I love being a bald girl it was the best decision for me. It was empowering for me. She looks amazing 😊 I had scarring in middle of my head. The last video on my channel was me shaving my head bald.
That was my hair. Lord, it has been a long road. The only thing that has helped me regrow hair in my balding area is Aleo Vera gel. I remove the gel from the leaf blend then use it at least 2-3 times weekly as a leave-in conditioner for the past 6months. I only have a small spot left that is being stubborn.
have you tried using coconut oil? or maybe a mix of coconut oil and aloe vera? sometimes your body can build up a tolerance to certain things, so they won’t work as well. if your body has built up a tolerance to a “product,” changing it up a bit or using a different product can help.
You can’t even tell her hair is gone, it’s beautiful. Peace and blessing hope her hair grows back and we can find a cure for it because our strength is in our hair as well as our hearts
I love how u acknowledge men and women cause I’m definitely a man 😂😂 and I love watching your videos, some hair vids assume that only women are watching. Just something I noticed. Lol u perfect at everything you do 😭🙌🏾
Thank you so much for educating us sisters about the different forms of Alopecia and thanks too to Auntie Charlene for allowing us see how beautifully her hair turned out. Blessings and success always xxx
Thank you to aunt Charlene for being brave enough for this. I'm so shy that I love seeing others do really bold and brave things like this bc she is not alone so vids like this truly help others who may be experiencing the same. Her hair turned out Great!
Thank you for all the information about Alopecia. I think I had at least three of them.. I just had a hair transplant done on 7/7/23.. Now my edges are back. I did go to a dermatologist for injections. It did help for the front menopause Alopecia. And i was low in Iron for years. My sides were Traction Alopecia. Life is good.. I have Edges now.. 💆🏽♀️
I suffer from Alopecia, unfortunately my dermatologist told me that my immune system fights the hair follicles and that’s how I get random bald spots in my scalp. It’s very difficult for me honestly because being 28 and wanting to style my hair as I used to do, now I have to change a lot of my hair styles and it makes me very very insecure.
I feel you on this! :( I am 27 and my dermatologist told me the same thing 4 years ago. This past year has been the worst. i lost a lot more hair and I am so self-conscious about it and it makes me even sadder that I can't style it. If I try to cover one spot then another spot shows.
Just so much talent. I had an issue after a sew-in about 7 years ago and organic emu oil grew it back. I can just watch your videos back to back. So calming. If we had more stylist like you I would go to the salon again. I think I finally found one I can visit twice a year. You gave me the courage to allow someone else to touch my hair again. Thanks for sharing and blessings to your aunt and anyone else working through alopecia
I’ve experienced Alopecia on multiple occasions. Each time I saw a dermatologist and got scalp injections the hair grew back in a matter of weeks! I hope this helps someone who may not know what to do to help the situation.
@@animosity4u85 it’s a mild steroid to help blood circulation in the scalp, it really not painful, just little sticks real fast and it’s over. I’ve had two rounds of treatment and no side affects.
Trickle-tellomania is the easiest. because that means that you like pulling out your own hair and all you have to do is calm in some cases even seek counseling to help you with that.andcalm your nerves stop pulling your hair.💇🏻♀️ and know that your hair is your glory and your crown you can do this👌🏼 it takes a little time but it can happen. I used to pull mines when I was a kid, till I seen the damage I was doing and I stopped . Jupiter gone wild I think you can do great and I like to put the positive that it takes a little time but it can happen. And I'm speaking as a person that's in the beauty field 30 years and a licensed practical nurse also 30 years from experience. God is good and I believe that these kind of things slowly but surely can be worked out for the better good. Sometimes we even have to have therapy for some things that we might be going through that causes this not many people know about it but being in the hair field I've seen it to learn about it over 20 years ago. But I hope everything works out for the best for you Jupiter gone wild😇😎🤔🙆♀️💯‼️💇🏻♀️
I, as a person who has not much knowledge about hair, have developed great respect for you and your videos. It seems to me that you are doing your research, that you know about your strengths and weaknesses and act accordingly and that you take your clients seriously without being reluctant to their heads' and hairs' health. I really enjoy this. Thanks.
The world is such a better place with you in it❤️ I love how encouraging you are to people with serious issues with their hair. Your salon chair is a "no judgement" zone, and EVERY hair dresser should watch you work to learn how to treat clients!
Your auntie is so lucky to have you take loving care of her hair and her. I’m sure you feel just as lucky to have her as family. She’s a lovely woman ♥️ I love your channel. You have such a joyful disposition!
Thanks for talking about this topic. After my chemotherapy my hair started growing thin and I started seeing my scalp in the crown area. Being just 21,its hard to take it in but I am learning to manage it. Your Aunt seems like someone who is lively and high spirited and I am grateful for her agreeing to do this 😊. P.S:If you ever get the time or the person could you ever talk about chemo curls? I wish we had more videos regarding how hair changes during or after chemo on this site.
I had 3 year and 9 months of chemo. My hair grew back and fell out so many times. My curls ran the gamut too. From 1a in the beginning to 4abc now. We need more knowledge about chemo curls for black woman. Thank you for bringing it up and good luck to you on your health journey!!!!
DeeDee here and I am amazed at how aunt Charlene’s hair turned out, absolutely beautiful! You did a wonderful job along with your explanations of the different kinds of hair lost. I found myself in this video. Thank you, you’re a blessing and very talented!
It is such a great feeling when a hairstylist shows how much they care about you and your hair to look healthy and beautiful. It makes any women feels special! Great great job Kee 👏🏾👏🏾💯
I just love that you showcase all types of hair. a lot of hairstylists on youtube only showcase long thick hair and not everyone has that so I can truly say I appreciate the representation on your channel.
Your voice is so calming and peaceful. You can hear and feel the love you put into your work/clients!!! You're so energetic, positive, and happy!!!! ❤❤❤
Her hair is gorgeous! I have the same colour but a looser wavy/curly 2B/C pattern. I found your channel years ago when looking into curly hair care. I stayed because although I don't have coily hair you are fabulous! You have such a kind approach to your clients, always respect their requests and are so knowledgeable. Sending love from Scotland!
Thank you and Aunt Charlene for doing this tutorial. In my 40s and have alopecia just like your Aunt but my spot is larger. Major blow to my self confidence because I have always had long super thick hair. Trying to embrace my situation but it is hard.
Wow! I love that the stylist not only knows her stuff, but she is also very loving and motivating to her customers and viewers with her skill (talent)!
You are such a beautiful, gentle soul and it is revealed in the way you handle hair and your sensitivity to the many issues people face. Aunt Charlene, you are beautiful!!
I just LOVE watching you girl. You are so genuine, sincere, humble and to top All of that off very knowledgeable. Your delivery accompanied with the hands on demonstration is almost hypnotic. You have a gift "my sista: Know that. Continue to allow yourself to be led. You're just getting started. Be well
Aunt Charlene you're a blessing. Thank you letting us in, educating us, and giving us courage. Your hair looks amazing. Kee you're such a beautiful human. Thank you for your care and kindness and of course your talent. 😍❣️
Your Aunt’s hair turned out so beautiful! And thank you for teaching us about alopecia; I did not know there were different kinds that can affect men and women. Thank you for sharing your Auntie with us🥰
THANKS for the alopecia education!! I have it at the top center of my head from blood pressure medication. It’s a lot fuller now because I only have color and very intentional with tension. OHHHHH I GOT DOME GLASS BRILLIANT SHINE today‼️♥️‼️. Your AUNT is BRAVE and THANKS for SHARING her story‼️🥰☺️🥰‼️
Thanks for shedding light on this. I have been experiencing some hair loss in patches for sometime. I have finally plucked up the courage to go to the Dr. I was so embarrassed. Thanks to your aunt Charlene her courage makes me feel better. Thank you 😊 💓
You are so gifted, not just in your hair dressing ,but you so compassionate ,. I don't know if you have been told you have the most beautiful calming voice .patsy from London in the uk xx
Thanks sis for including hair that looks like mine. And many thanks to brave Aunt Charlene for exposing and embracing her crown in front of the Camera! True beauty is within!
Don’t forget - there’s always hair powder that you can dab over greys or use to cover any patches or gaps. In a pinch, you can just use regular mascara, pencil or eyeshadow the colour of your hair, blend with a toothbrush and fix with hairspray! ✌🏿 Beautiful hair as always.
Great video - learned so much, and as always, I love how you show care for your clients and their hair. And definitely appreciate your Aunt Charlene being willing to do the video.
Omg! Thank you so much for this!!! I have several autoimmune diseases and over the years it and medications took my hair out in stages. I finally got it figured out and it's flourishing. I take a Lot of supplements, better diet and a good hair routine.
If you don’t mind me asking, what types of medications did you take? As someone who has SLE, I get nervous about the amount of medication I take, a lot of the time purposely not taking.
@@amandagainer5224 I do chemo every six months, prednisone, methotrexate, hydroxychloroquine, Lexapro, amlodipine, Lyrica and Maxalt. For my hair, I take fenugreek, marshmallow root, hair/skin/nails vitamins, vitamins E, D3, biotin with keratin.
@@deirdredraginoff3760 thank you for your transparency. I, too, take some of those medications and I will be sure to starting taking some vitamins and working on my nutrition.
I am grateful for this video, and for your aunt being willing to share her journey with us. The women in my family tend to lose hair on our edges toward the top of our heads. I have been taking care of this area keeping it moisturized, and have changed my diet to include more veggies and fruit. I am natural so moisture is a must. I also no longer get braids, but wear twist styles that are not too taut to my scalp. I do appreciate your videos as I always pick up a good nugget of hair wisdom from them. May your hands continue to bless those who sit in front of you, and may your magazine be just as successful!
