Kelly Clarkson is so humble because that girl can sang and she still finds a way to acknowledge the uniqueness of other people's gifts and deliver compliments genuinely.
I was disappointed over Aretha not acknowledging Kelly Clarkson by stating she should go into shows which is her talent? What does she think she will outlast all the divas? One should look at Aretha when she heard Mariah Carey belting one of her songs and hitting the whistle grade. She was in shock because there are things other singers cannot sing certain notes and maintain them.
i like how mariah and patti never hold back when they're complimenting someone. i feel like a lot of legends in the industry kind of feel obligated to be modest and restrained when complimenting other artists, which i can understand, but it is refreshing to hear mariah and patti just say sweet things like "she's incredible!" "she's really really good, i love her" must really make an artist's entire year hearing something like that from those two
I guess a lot of artists are too conservative unlike Mariah/Patti who gives compliments to the new artists but also throwing shades(their true thoughts) whenever it needs to

Madonna was extremely insecure about her voice. In the 90s, the people at the top of the chats where Whitney, Mariah, and Celine, and she simply could not compete with them vocally. She is a legend and is one of the most impactful artists ever, but I believe that is one thing she always wished she had.
The only reason she even got fame was because Tommy Matula pushed her into stardom to try and ruin Mariahs career. She literally rode other singers backs to fame.

I will never bash Mariah for the declination of her vocal abilities. She literally sacrificed her voice for her fans by giving us more and more, even at times when she had nothing left to give, and the incredible amount of damage it caused to her vocal chords is undeniable, but she's still an icon and deserves to be viewed as one of the greatest vocalists of all time, nonetheless. Regardless, nothing can invalidate her and she'll always be known for that five octave range, her songwriting ability, her 19 number one hits, her 30+ year-long career, etc, etc, and despite all the edge in her present-day voice, I still enjoy listening to her and always will.
People don't understand art. Of course Mariah damaged her voice by doing the insane things that she did with it, but she's gonna be remembered forever. In the same way Maria Callas, who is also criticized for "ruining her voice" is now remembered as a vocal TITAN; considerably above all the other sopranos who "took care of their instrument" and "lasted longer", but are not on anybody's minds nowadays. Mariah used her instrument in extreme ways, but she will always be remembered as a vocal titan, even if she lost her voice entirely tomorrow.
It's her music , she is not mainstream marketable, if she was in the older generation she would have a chance but right now, I dont know if she will ever blow up .
Normani really does have a lovely voice though that is so underrated and overlooked. Very smooth and velvety texture that is capable of doing intricate runs in her head voice and falsetto. Just wish she would get more comfortable with her belting.

Tori has gotten so many compliments from top tier vocalists/legends it’s insane. We’ve seen Celine Dion in this, Gladys Knight stated in an interview that she would love to work with Tori when she first saw her on tv with just her guitar and that she could sense something special in her, P!nk tweeted her and became a fan when she saw her 2015 VMAs performance (“you live singing, guitar playing, accapella sanging woman”), Kelly Clarkson freaked out over her when they sang Silent Night together, BabyFace and Michael Buble both separately said they were nervous to sing with her, Nicole Scherzinger saying she was the best vocalist to ever be on the Masked Singer.. like the list just goes on. I love that she gets the recognition she deserves from people in the industry! Edit: BabyFace has now explicitly stated that Tori is up there with Mariah, Whitney, Celine who he has all worked with in the past and that she’s also one of his favorite artists to work with ☺️

People hate on Mariah because they forget that EVERY track she sang on, she hit those iconic sometimes unbelievable notes. She did it live and I believe as a result, it strained her vocals as the years passed. Almost live overusing her voice and not being able to properly rest it. You should have added Mariah's American Idol Comment mentioning how Beyoncé songs are difficult to sing - she talked about how how specific the vibrato and inflections had to be. If I'm not mistaken, both her and Randy had so much great things to say about the vocal capability of Queen Bey.

I appreciate you ending on @MariahCarey in a 'relaxed moment' that shows her technicality and how she hasn't lost a damn thing, and anyone who thinks she has is smoking something. That woman has only gotten greater with time, because as we listen to her at 50, we're hearing (if you really listen) to the many ways that she has learned to use her voice to/for different effects. No-one can do it like she does. She has a new school coming up to try to follow in her footsteps, but there are few through time who carry the mantle that she does, and has taught to few in Gen Z. You wouldn't be wrong for calling her the last of The Greats, because we are in a different age now, where we no longer have an enduring legacy beyond her. Kelly Clarkson, and I guess you could say Beyonce, will be the next, but as far as I'm concerned, there has yet to be a Queen since Mariah. We have a host of princesses, but definitely no queen since her.

Being praised by Rachelle Ferrell says a lot. She can do more things with her voice than any other singer I've ever heard. I think that's why Jennifer Hudson was so shy around her.
Madonna was never a great singer but she delivered EMOTIONS in her performances. She did have some incredible vocal moments though like Sooner or later at the Oscars, ray of light and little star on Oprah, lament on her re-invention tour, live to tell and drowned world/substitute for love on the confessions tour, and she absolutely slayed You must love me on her sticky and sweet tour. My favorite vocalists out of these are Whitney Houston and P!nk. I don't think P!nk gets enough credit as a vocalist. She not only has an AMAZING voice but she can sing in any genre being able to say a janis joplin song or even a ballad and she can do it all while spinning in the air without even missing a note. She is literally everything you could want in a performer. Thank you for this video ❤️

This is great. Demi, Jo Jo, Tori, Jessie J are all great but I wish they would be paired with the right material. Ariana's tone is lovely and she's a strong vocalist but it's hard to have grown up in the 90s and not see how the bar has lowered a bit.
Yeah, I agree. I wasn't around in the 90s but there are less people focusing on big vocals and more on putting out more songs faster. And there is less competition.
To be honest, I have never understood why Tori Kelly is regarded as an amazing vocalist. She can sing well, but I've never heard anything that has truly wowed me. And I've actually tried to seek out live performances and other videos. For me it really is just quite mediocre. Great but not amazing. I also find her music quite boring. Just my opinion though.

Kelly Price’s opinion of Mariah’s vocal change is totally unfair. First, don’t know who Kelly Price is...Second, everyone is prone to health risks and decline, especially someone like Mariah. She sang so much in her career and was able to do things with her voice that almost no one else can, so of course her voice went through some changes. Most people wouldn’t be able to sing like Mariah for more than a year or so.
Mariah can still sing and sound like she use to if she wants. It’s not that her voice has changed because it hasn’t. I guess a lot of people forget Mariah sings the way she wants to sing and sings what she wants to sing now because she is no longer under Tony’s control.
