I was looking for something to stop rabbits from getting into my garden bed and I KNEW a video would be out there with the ideal setup. This is that video!
This is by far the best diy solution out there, and super cheap. I actually have all the materials hanging around the shed. I just discovered your videos and I love how clearly they are narrated and well edited. Straight and to the point but still fun to watch. Thanks!
Great video! I almost cried watching it. My dog has been destroying all my beautiful plants. Thank you for taking the time to make this. The way you screwed those panels is so awesome- love that those panels are removable. Thank you!!!!!!
It is called 18V ONE+ Lithium-Ion Cordless Reciprocating Saw. Home Depot should have it. You need to purchase the batteries separately but keep an eye out for combo sales! And yes it’s a perfect size power saw!
Hi Laura, I know this video is several years old but for me it is brand new and an awesome idea. Thank you for the simplistic styling and it’s uniqueness of the sliding slats. I will continue to tune in for more ideas. Thanks a bunch! ✌🏾
Great video. I had 150 pound Malamute that would make it her sole desire to lay in any garden or flower bed. For other critters, I put a string of solar powered blinking lights on my fence. Somehow the blinking random light patterns keep the animals (deer also) from wanting to cross the fence line. And my garden looks cool at night lol. God bless you.
Thank you for this video. We have rabbits galore in our yard. Last year I saw one leap up into a raised bed that was at least two feet off the ground. Hoping this will do the trick!
Aaand of course is a husky! I came to find a solution to stop my dog (also a husky) from doing exactly that. Mine is 6 years old and serves as a proof that they never grow out of the puppy stage!
Haha Correct!! My latest fence was 5ft tall and next year I may as well enclose the entire thing ha! Every year I feel as though I am challenging them to jump higher and higher! And they gladly accept said challenge. But now instead of the gardens, they have chosen dig in the yard 🤦♀️
out-freaking standing !!... nothing fancy.. practical.. and can be remodified to something sturdier.. if needed. Of course you'll have posters screaming that it won't deter bears, deer, racoons and other large nibblers because they couldn't comprehend that this small project wasn't made for that ! Great job !
Hi! I know this video is like two years old, but thank you so much! Your tutorials are so easy to follow! My wife and I just purchased and moved into our home two weeks ago. We have three small dogs that have been trying to escape when we take them out, and this seems like a perfect solution! I can't wait to follow your other videos and learn more from you as my wife and I really want to get into gardening!
I doubt a cat asthey are great climbers! I’m in Canada but this is what I would go buy www.homedepot.ca/product/dahl-all-round-strapping-steel-24ga-3-4-inch-x-10-feet/1000115948
I'm planning to make something like this to keep cats out of my garden. I'll be adding one more panel for the top, maybe adding a latch for easy removal. Thanks for the video!
Maybe try some motion sensor lights around the garden bed? Try to spray the surrounding area with vinegar to deter the raccoons. Maybe it will help? ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-bsMG7vseKRQ.html
Just fine! But, I did leave them up during winter, and I tripped in snow falling onto one panel and broke the top piece of wood. In spring, I replaced the top bar no issues since. It was a quick fix.
Thank you for sharing! I have deer prints in my beds. This is easy to build and looks nice. I love the removable part to not only do work in the garden but also depending on what I’m growing in each bed, not all will need the fence all season. Sometimes when the plants are mature enough, they leave them alone.
I suppose it would depend on the height of your garden bed, plus the panels. I also googled as it was a good question, seems they can jump over 2ft vertically!
Hi Laura! Is there any chance you can send a link of the mesh you bought? Or even just the size? I am trying to do this exactly how you did it.... thank u so much 💓
It was similar to this product peakproducts.com/en-ca/p/plastic-hardware-mesh/ I’m sorry I do not recall the length as I purchased a few rolls years ago for my other garden and I had leftover material. 36inches high is great, it will depend on how many panels you are going to make to required length! Measure your gardens and purchase enough for replacement panels in future!
Watch this ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-IczDsdSauik.html just after the 1 min mark you’ll see the wood I used with sizing. This is a 4min build of this exact garden bed.
Many! Better ability to control the quality of soil, better drainage, warmer soil extending the season and often less weeds! Here is an even higher bed that has many additional benefits! ru-vid.com/group/PLSzBLqVSba6Lm8ywIMU4DES02Si0c_yM2
That's brilliant!! I wasn't sure how you were going to remove the sides until you showed the bendable metal strips! And it's easy for a person like me who isn't ready to buy a lot of equipment for building a simple fence to keep out my dogs Thanks for sharing. (And the puppy is adorable).
