Great EVH tone. What were you running through? Amp, direct? Also, if you can do it, a comparison between that guitar and the less expensive striped series would be helpful.

It is an amazing axe! The night of Eddie's passing I searched all online inventory & no stores had it. I walked into Sam Ash the next day to get some cables & jokingly asked the guitar tech if they had a Frankie? He said, Yes, in the glass case. I got it for $1699 & the case from a different SA down south. I've played it twice. It stays locked in my music room closet until I can figure out how to tell my wife.

"The relicing on the neck, is so comfortable" ... if the details of that guitar mod/relic work by anyone else showed up on forums they'd get laughed at. Relic guitars are all about the feel and performance not the appearance but that is what gets the focus. EVH said he got 'seconds' (scrap) body and neck, hand routed the body cavities, rattle-can finish on top of prior rattle-can finishes for a thick covering, relic neck and body, sticker reflectors on the back, experimental bridge by a neighbor jewelry maker, simple wiring, partial pickguard, and dog leash strap retainers. A fantastic relic project guitar. And now they make expensive reproductions.

Awesome bro ! Very jealous ! I have an EVH wolfgang standard with drop d . And a black and white striped replica , made by epiphone looks like a strat body with a Jackson or kramer neck . Absolutely love these things. I know the price went up a bit and they're hard to get, but it's on my wish list for sure. I'm nowhere near super accomplished on the guitar, but Eddie and the guitar itself are so iconic that it's something I just feel like I have to have.

I'm no shredder on guitar, but I just got the EVH Bumble Bee model a few months back --- TOTALLY LOVE IT!!! The guitar had Great Action and the neck was smooth as silk right out of the box !!! It is soooooo cool to hold an EVH guitar and even with a smaller amp --- I have a Fender Champion 100 --- the tone is INCREDIBLE !!! I guarantee , you will NOT be disappointed if you invest in an EVH guitar. It doesn't matter if you don't have your EDDIE riffs memorized , you will thoroughly ENJOY playing it , no matter your skill level. I saw Van Halen supporting Black Sabbath at the Glasgow Apollo in 1978, tripping out of my skull on Orange Barrel acid, and all I can remember about Van Halen is EVH standing centre stage, left arm holding the neck of his black and white stripped Strat straight up in the air with his head thrown back, and wailing out these awesome solos! I’ll never forget that as long as I live.

I just got mine yesterday and I am blown away. I don’t know what it is but its such an easy comfortable guitar to play. The neck feels amazing and the tone from the pickup is just awesome……and I have not even had it setup yet….this is just straight out of the box!!

I’m 66 and I remember when Eddie came on the scene. It was “Here’s something new” sure you could say he wasn’t the first to do tapping but he was the first I heard really integrated into his playing and he was more than just that. I will always have my heart in the Blues and the great players from the 60s but he was brilliant. I like how his guitar was his tool that he made his own not a vintage museum piece. It was just the conduit between him and his sound.

Yeah, really. If he really wanted to buy it he could have just bought it from a dealer and not said anything about his channel. I'm sure they would have taken his money. I know several actual professional touring guitar players (some of which I'm sure Robert knows) who straight up bought the guitar from a dealer, they didn't want a free one. The fact he went right to Fender and asked them for a loaner and told them he wanted to do an Eddie tribute with their guitar makes me think he wanted a free EVH Frankie from the get go. "Oh you mean I can keep it? Oh shucks, o.k. Thanks guys, you're great". I'm sure he'll never post this comment... because I'm right.

I waited almost eight months for mine and I love it. I put the 1971 quarter on it and the EVH leather strap with the eye hooks and clasps that I ordered on EVH website. Takes it to another level. I play it through my 5150 50w amp😎🤟🎸

You know, playing Eddie's material slightly "Off" is very Eddie anyway. Yeah, it's a certain way on the record, but capturing the feel is more important, I think. Listen to his live versions and there's always variation. All his licks and signiture parts are instantly recognizable, but he adds the spice a bit differently every time.

I got a chance to play one, and I will agree that thing was so nice to play. It almost had Eddie’s swing feel when you play it. Best neck I’ve ever played , great action, tone. It really left an impression on me. I was still paying off an ESP EII or I would have just slid some plastic on the counter. It really was that good.

I love - Love - LOVE this :) Some people miss the point - but life is about boosting humanity and amplifying people's happiness, excitement and joy. So I love it when I see people totally gushing about people that have inspired them or who they admire. Truly - that admiration and inspiration is what brings out the best in us. It fuels us to do the same for others - and it's totally contagious! While I personally don't at all like the looks of that guitar (*** looks over shoulder for The Assassin who's no-doubt just been despatched!) - I totally love what it means to you and how much it's impacted you. And, given what you give to others via your content, that guitar couldn't have gone to a more deserving person. Kudos to you. Keep up the sterling work 👍

Oh, love that D-Tuna on my USA EVH Wolfgang Signature. The ivory one is the one I got, had to wait 4 months to get it but that made it built January of the same year of his passing which increased its sentimental value for me.

I work in a music store and don’t get taken by many guitars. This guitar blew me away and I had to have it on spot. I opened the box, strummed an e chord and told my manager Its sold. Enjoy!!

Same story here: they got a Bumble Bee model at my local music store a few months back. They called me as soon as it arrived there. Went down after work --- the sales guy opened the box , handed it to me , played a little riff and ... Without even p!ugging it into an amp, I handed it back to him and said " sold " !! @@guitarman3968 Seriously? The guitar came in for regular stock and was not on hold or spoken for anyone. I am a customer as much as anyone else. The buying public has had LOTS of time to get one. I’ve sold over 10 of them this past year and haven’t had one bad comment about these guitars. P.s Why do you think I work at a music store? Too buy gear which I’m allowed to do!!

Could not agree more … I got one of these a while back and I still love it. I added the quarter and was lucky to find a relic’ed FloydRose to trick it out a bit more. The super shiny one just didn’t fit the vibe of the guitar IMO. Added a HexHider too because all Floyd guitars need to have one to keep them easy to use. I might change the strap ends. Isn’t modifying an EVH guitar part of what EVH would want/expect you to do? Hahaha. Enjoy the guitar. I still love it. It’s a keeper.

Dig your transparency about the origin of this Fender / EVH guitar. I also dig how you played the riffs and licks. It was refreshing that you did not play them totally stock and there was no tapping hahha!

I got mine about a month ago after waiting for 8 months. And though the long wait was excruciating, it was well worth it! It’s a beast of a guitar! It sounds beautiful, plays beautiful and the neck is one of the best necks I’ve ever played. I’m like you - Eddie was my guitar hero and I was totally devastated when I heard of his passing. He’s the reason why I play the guitar and ever since I was 13, I wanted a guitar just like his. Fender and EVH really did knock or out of the park with this guitar and I’m thankful for them to have made it possible for us fans to own a legendary piece of not only rock n roll history, but to own a beautifully made replica of Eddie’s Frankenstrat. I have the 1971 quarter, the 61071 neckplate and correct reflectors - just need to install them. RIP Eddie! You are loved and missed by many!

please keep that guitar and never get rid of it. I feel that is a special guitar and everyone could use at least one EVH guitar. I just got mine this week and it is one of my favorites. Snuck into my sister's record collection in the late 70s . Dropped the needle . Jaw dropped and I grabbed some oversized wooden spoon on my parents had on a wall .. Begged dad a week later for a guitar .. He picked out one for me and said these inspirational words " You'll give it up in a week ". Fooled you Pops 42 years and still snapping strings !!!

Dude they gave it to you! That’s AWESOME! I can relate, as I was awaiting a repair or replace to a wireless system in 2021 ( anyone else using line 6 wireless knows ) I had shows to do and finally took them up on an offer to send me a loaner. So they did, and it was a different model priced very similar to the one I had but an upgrade, and while I was thankful grateful and humble in all of emails, they did not act like they didn’t care or notice, and when I brought up again how much I appreciated it, and let him know my replacement finally came in the mail ( a week after the loaner ) after I’d been waiting for months btw… I offered to mail it back and needed mailing info and instructions… dude said no man, you keep it! Thanks for being patient! I was elated!!!! So congrats man. The people in the music sales industries have mostly always been amazing. Musicians know musicians! Yet another example of how stand up some of these companies really are! Hell yeah man

I can’t believe I have only just started a journey into EVH and his guitar playing and tone… I’m 27 and never really got into Van Halen but recently thanks to videos of people playing his music and searching for his tone.. I have found such an admiration and appreciation for his tone and guitar innovation and playing!! I’m so grateful to him because he inspired so many players of whom I look to for inspiration!!

Dude bought the guitar a few months back and sent It back after 2 hours. The neck was wavy(??), garden rake action, and it sounded like boo! I guess the person in Mexico making the guitar didn’t have a good day. I was heartbroken. Good to see you didn’t have that experience.

Cool video! Great guitar! Eddie was one of a kind!!! Nobody else like him at all! His playing was powerful and poignant, but often also with a playfulness that nobody else could touch. He loved playing and his guitar was his muse. RIP Eddie. Also kudos to Fender for being such a cool company and giving you that guitar!!! Strats are my favorite guitar, for so many reasons, but part of the reason they’re so good is that they have a great company behind them.

just got my EVH Wolfgang Special Black Stealth. Feels so amazing! I"ve had his Ernie Ball\Music Man and a Peavey Wolfgang, those were great, but this one tops them.

I played one of those and I have played/owned real 1980s charvel jackson guitars. That evh guitar is fkn spot on to the old charvel necks they play amazing after I set it up for a customer holyshit i was stunned. The stock pickup is so good perfect

I am so in tears seeing this guitar. Eddie was also one I looked to as a defining guitarist in my life. Van Hallen was my sound track to my life and will continue on. Man that thing rocks.

It's a thing of beauty for sure. My musical hero is/was/will ever be Paul McCartney. And my first "real" bass was a '76 Rickenbacker I bought new right after the Wings over America tour. But I chose a different color, to make it my own. The spirit of Paul with a touch of me. I would feel really stupid playing an axe that's an exact copy of a totally custom rig designed for one of the best players ever. Eddie did to that axe what Joe Cocker did to "A Little Help From MY Friends." It is simply a display case novelty for guitar collectors. The Jay Leno of guitars. Or maybe a VH cover band.

Robert...none of us care you got the guitar for free. You have put in a lot of hard work. You have provided an abundance of attention for fender. This is simpley their way of saying thanks. Goddamn. Look at that thing. Y'know, when Eddie passed I had some uncomfortable feeling at first about selling a bunch of gear as a remembrance. But as I thought about it, I realized, he's about the #1 guitarist where that's EXACTLY the right thing to do. He was passionate about playing guitar, yes, but also extremely passionate about the guitars themselves, a true gearhead to the bone. I think it's a fitting way to show him the respect he deserves.

Dude congrats . Eddie is why I play also .. but I built my own Frankie's... I built the black and white one with the original setup he used ( strat bridge ) . Even used his evh 500k pots . and the red white and black one .. I've been searching for the correct body to make the black and yellow one now . So happy for you man. And kinda jealous 😕 lol , long live EVH . Btw its called a D tuna lol

Congrats, bro!!! I got mine a couple months ago and was truly blown away at how great it is! I just got it because I figured I should have something of Eddie’s and got in the list since he passed (RIP Eddie 😔) and when it finally arrived, it felt, played, and sounded heaps better than I even expected. So much so that I keep it on the stand and it’s been one of my main axes since! You sound phenomenal, as always, brother!! 🤘😉👍👏👏👏🎵🎶🎵

Eddie's parting gift to the masses in my opinion, a Franky rep at an affordable price. Added the '71 quarter, reflectors and blue paint to mine. Looks and plays the part for sure.

Only things you COULD realistically criticise on this guitar are: 1. the original Frankenstrat had a northern ash body, this one is made from basswood (Ed’s tone wood of choice) 2. for some strange reason they decided to put a Wolfgang pickup instead of the reissue Frankenstein humbucker in the guitar The mods I’d do to make it more authentic if I were you would be the ‘71 quarter, cigarette burn marks, fish eye hooks, the Frankie pickup and the 1984 Floyd Rose reissue

Oh yes that Guitar is a Wonderful Beautiful thing , I'm a big fan of the Maple Fretboard's , I love it when they start getting worn and Bruised . Years ago I had a BC Rich Mockingbird it was black with a Maple neck , the guitar was set up by a Professional and played nicely, I decided to sell it to a friend who loved it to , he loved it so much he took some wire wool to the fret bored and rubbed off all those years of playing I was a little gutted but it wasn't mine anymore . Some people like the look of a worn and Bruised fretboard and some people don't. There is some useless information for yous all.

They had one of the 1st runs of the hyper accurate Frankenstrat at my local Sam Ash. It was in a plexiglass case with a light over the top and it rotated slowly. I felt like Wayne from Wayne's World. I went straight to it and my girlfriend saw the $25,000 price tag and scoffed "who would by that piece of junk for that much money?" Well, honey....ME! To the untrained eye it does look like a POS that some kid made, but when you know the history of it and what it means to Rock & Roll, you bow down and pay homage to The Master. Nice score there buddy. That is a dream come true
