Great job, thanks for mentioning me! My name was pronounced well, thanks :) Another advice: I'd let it dry for at least 24 hours before you drive the bike again, as you also say in the video. I let it dry for 48 hours with my bike and also with my wife's. It would be too bad if it fell off only because the glue hasn't dried properly.
Fitting a fender extender was the first thing I did on my NC750X, actually I ordered the extender before I even received the bike because it was obvious, that the bike would need it. Like on about 95% of modern motorcycles the front mudguard on the NC750X is much too short to keep dirt off the bike, which used to be the purpose of mudguards. Short mudguards is a really stupid example of fashion before function, especially on a practical motorcycle like the NC. It's not a big job to fit the extender, but we really shouldn't need to.
I agree 100% it wouldn't cost much more on materials to design this it. Unless they deliberately design it this way so bikes deteriorate and we buy a new one.
I enjoy your videos so thanks for sharing them. I used some ABS to fashion a shield for the rear shock. I modeled it after a version sold for that purpose that I’d seen marketed for sale on RU-vid. All it required was some ABS, my Dremel and I used some steel zip ties to fasten it. It works perfectly and keeps the whole area around the shock clear of any debris. Very inexpensive and I even have enough material to make a second if I ever needed one. I look forward to seeing how the sock is used and performs.
Thats cool I love it when people get inventive and do there own stuff to solve problems. Perhaps you could share some pictures. I have a idea 💡 that I may try. There's a material that the NHS use to mould splints. You pop it in hot water and it becomes soft so it can be shaped moulded, when it cools it is hard but still retains some flex. It can be drilled and filed. Once I find out what its called I'm going to have a go at making all sorts of stuff, rear shock shield, hand guards etc. Its just for fun and may not work, but if I can make them look professional then I'll share.
I look forward to seeing more about the materiel you’re referring to. I’m not sure how to share a picture on RU-vid of what I made. Let me know how and I’d love to share a pic!
@@terrysmith-NC750X I’ll forward some pictures along. I didn’t see an email address under your “About” section so let me know and I’ll send them your way? It was an easy yet fun little project to undertake. I got the idea to try and do the mod myself after watching some other enthusiasts like you and the “Honda NC750 Stuff” RU-vid guy, etc.
Hi Terry, 2 good vids. Must admit I do like that Denim against the silver, The extenda is a must for keeping rad clean. Good luck with sock on shock, Done over 100 miles on mine since fitting deflector and shock is spotless. Good idea to whip off belly pan and ACF all what you can't see. Enjoy the bike I can't wait to get the running in out of the way and enjoy it properly. Cheers Have fun.
Hey Terry, mines on its way to me….will hopefully attach this weekend, along with another instrument cover, my first one I did not like, so got one like yours….had my very first very short slow ride yesterday…..first time on a bike in 41 years….took me a few minutes to get back into balancing, but did slow riding and U turns…all a tad new using just throttle and a bit of back brake…..I’ll practice more next week, and decided to get four refresher lessons on a smaller bike, to hone my road craft…..I read that to help slow riding etc, you put the bike into Rain mode…so will try that next time…. Thanks for sharing, very helpful to us all..cheers Karl
After your video i ordered an extender. Just the clearance between the tire and extender was so little. Personally I heated up the extender with a hair blower and squeezed it on the sides, so the clearance is a bit more now
Good one mate , very informative, looks like it will hold but to be on the safe side I’ll attach a cow catcher to the front of my bike so I can catch it if it falls off next week 😂
I had a bit of an issue…I just was not happy with the space between the extender and tyre, to me it was so so tight, and I just felt uneasy about it….I’ll look at getting the thing bolted on when it goes in for a service…..maybe I am just looking at it wrong, but I felt just too risky to have the space so narrow…..advice most welcomed….cheers
Hi Karl I have about 10mm of clearance at its closest point if that helps. The extender was put through its paces on the recent 400 mile trip and is still firmly fixed, with no rubbing on the tyre. When I find time I plan to do a in depth review of how the bike performed and will cover the fender extender.
A good addition to instal would be the fork protectors, stops gunk and flies etc entering into the forks….easy to instal and cheap too….just helps protect the forks…
Hi Karl I had a look to see if I could find them, but was a bit confused. Are you protecting the lower legs, motocross style, or the chrome stactions i.e rubber gaitors, or both
Have a safe trip. Ironically i had a 1993 ST-1100 for 22 years and loved that bike. Is yours still running? Have wanted to install a rear hugger, but no one seems to make one for the 2021 model. Does anyone have a recommendation. All the best.
The ST1100 is running perfectly, excellent bikes this is my second. I had a ex police bike before did over 85K on that one and this one has 30k on it despite being a 1991 bike. Tracy and I have a trip planned in June and will use the Pan for that. Regarding huggers there is some rubbish out there - I've decided to have a shock sock instead but the jury is out regarding whether that will be a wise decision. Watch this space. :-)
