Hi everyone, my name is Jeanine and I’m Jake’s mom. I posted a while back that Jake💙 is doing amazing. He went through rehab for three months and now he’s in sober living going on a month he’s working his step program with a sponsor getting all kinds of help and assistance. He’s doing really well. Thank you all so much for your kind words and support. It means everything to Jake’s family and to our son Jake💙. Amen and god bless to you and yours♥️🙏🏻❤

People typing out that he passed away and the others who write "thank god, he was a waste of oxygen", and "another addict in the dust, god's doing his job" are cruel people without an ounce of compassion. The only thing I wish upon them is a week of withdrawal syndrome from morphine (I'm making it easy for you, the stronger the opioid, the stronger the withdrawals. Fent is 100x more potent), not because I wish they get addicted, I wish that on no one. Let's say a bacteria causes the same symptoms :) so they understand what addicts go through, better yet let them feel that in jail/prison where you HAVE TO stand up for yourself while their body is aching from walking. They don't know anyone, a minute feels like an hour, and never-ending hell starts, there is no comfort, no family, no privacy, not a ray of the sun in sight. I know that after the first day shi**ng themselves and vomiting at the same time while sweating like they have run an 800m race (absolutely the worst distance to run, every athlete will tell you that) for Olympic gold in 100+ degree HUMID heat at the same time feeling that cold like you've never experienced. And I'm just describing the easiest things about withdrawal, some things aren't possible to grasp with words, especially the MENTAL anguish you go through, just physical syndromes would make them say sorry to every addict they see.

If it wasn't for you mama he would be still taking it, I congratulate you for being the supportive mother who didn't let your son drown but gave your hand so he could climb to the land. Nothing is more common in addicts who come around and that is supportive parent/s or someone in the family or loving but harsh friends who tell you how it really is. You need to congratulate yourself, it's equally your and Jake's achievement Ms. Jeanine. Congratulation to you both from the bottom of my little heart. And say congratulations to Jake from me! I'm also an addict (I started by codeine at 15yo). I also was with a girlfriend, though I thought of mine as the love of my life I would marry, after a year she cheated on me so I decided to go all in because I didn't care if I died because being without her was already worse fate then death (yeah, teenager love is very stupid but on the other hand very romantic). So I started using morphine and heroin so naturally, syringes and needles came with it at 16. At 18 I decided to also go Fent route, after 3 months on Fent (I had pure one because I had them from the patch (it's kinda like a band-aid that over time disposes all of fent to the whole body through 36h time, they are used in cancer patients. Long story short I found a way to extract it from the patches and then use it I.V.) 6 of my friends had died. 3 of them took their own lives, the other 3 ODs, one in my house and one in his, to which I broke in after 24h no response. Finding my childhood best friend dead caused so much trauma that it's hard to even write about it. One that died in my house literally was on my bed, 2 feet from where I now sit. Like your son I also stole opioids from a cancer patient (grandma's cousin that I and grandma visited), I took just one bottle, she had eight so I don't think it had any impact but I feel awful about it nonetheless I didn't admit it to no one besides my now dead best friend and now you. I don't think you can go any lower than that. ALL that your son had said resonated with me, his and my story and mirrored version of each other, mine in Europe yours in the US. I'm also on methadone (it doesn't get you high, it just makes you normal and able to work and drive) and I'm cutting my dosage until I'm completely opioid-free. Also just like your son, I'm addicted to benzodiazepines besides opioids (he takes Xanax I do Klonopin). I'm from 2001 and he is close to my age, we even dress similarly.

He seriously does. Using fentanyl and still being able to have such a cognizant and positive thought of oneself is highly unusual. I believe he's close to being ready for relief. He also has a massive chance at staying alive if he commits to the methadone clinic. Methadone saved my life. It then became its own monkey - side effects are horrible and it's hard to get off of. But after 12 years I finally got off! And it's because I knew I wasn't hitting my own potential being chemically addicted to an opioid even after I quit the illicit stuff. I hope to god Jake makes it.

im not an opiate addict but still an one and i support all who wanna quit ik when its like to tell ppl that you have a problem and you want them to help you by telling them that you just cant stop... adn i also know what is like ppl to tell you that they dont want to know you anymore by saying "its better this way bcs you will stop being egoistic and think for ppl that love u. After you stop im glad to have you back in my life". And I understand them bcs they dont wanna be depressed but after 5 months since the start of my X addiction(ket with synthetic weed) they told me that and it hurt it doesnt help just made it worse but then my mind come back and said "do you want to be a dead brother and son???" so after 4 more months i stoped and this "friends" and "gf" of my came back and said that they are glad to see me sober again but i cut them of bcs this ppl were not there for me when i needed their help i was left alone and helped my self alone i have a loving and care family that made somehow happy but they used the wrong way that made it even worse(At least they didnt give up on me and always tried to help me no matter that make them sad). So i became so good on hiding it to the point i destroed my mind and body and no one knew what i was going trough. So i helped my self alone somehow. After 5months i started again... but now cocaine and lsd and im not gonna lie after some time i feel like im frying out and stop for a solid month and i was so depressed bcs of other friends that leave(but for other reasons not my addiction) , so in this period of my cocaine&lsd addiction I found a very very well paid job that pays every week 450$(in my country the minimum is 400$ for a whole month), so more money more drugs buut this past 2-3months the person that i missed the most came back and told me that they are sorry they were not there for me and regreted that they listened to others telling them things about me that werent true and that he didnt asked me frist about it. My mother even found her own way to help me(we always started a fight durring our talking for making me stop). So now at least i have 2 loyal friends that know how to help me and family that love and care so much for me that they opened my eyes. So now im trying to stay away from any kind of drugs but still i feel stupid bcs now i stayed clean for month(not bcs to defry my head but bcs of the ppl that care) and this very moment i did it again and i smoked some pot to feed my 'hunger' for drugs and felt bad so i played this video and yes. Thats my short non-detalied addiction story, stay strong and if you ever feel like being alone dont hesitate to contact me in someway I understand how you all feel and think, so I will be glad to help with what i can!!!!Love for all of you

Jake I hope you see this. I’m a psychologist and I just have to let you know that you are really smart, so self aware, and socially intelligent. And let me tell you, there are 40 year olds who have never had an addiction who don’t have the attributes you have. You have your youth and your brain and body are resilient at this age regardless of the things you’ve done thus far. It’s so fucking hard when you’re young to get sober because a social life is so important to kids and if your friends are on something, the odds are slim to none that you’re gonna maintain sobriety. I have ADHD too and I need to look at the research but I think we are more prone to addiction. I’m getting off track. My point is that your youth and your brains are things older people would kill for - obviously your addiction can fuck all that up over time but you can also get to a point where there is nothing you can’t fix from your past and you can start totally fresh in your life. You don’t want to go out like this. And you know that a fent addiction will land u in jail or a grave or both. It’s not a matter of IF - it’s WHEN. You wouldn’t have the gifts you have if you are just supposed to die before you even really experience life and true freedom. Your honesty about the things you’ve done like steal oxy from your aunt with cancer is such a step in the right direction. It’s an indicator of your openness and courage and humility. There’s something special about you and you’re meant to be somebody you can be proud of. I wish you the best of luck on your journey and you’ve got a real shot at making your dreams happen. If you’re offered an opportunity to do inpatient rehab do it. Do it and don’t look back.

Doesn’t that suck? That addicts can’t see it until they see it. Took me 9 years 4 rehabs and tons of different pills they tried to put me on (I take nothing at all now, fuck doctors) had best friends OD and still didn’t stop. One day I broke down and saw everything so clear and that’s all I needed. What’s terrible is so many addicts won’t ever make it to that point because of ODing.

I became incredibly addicted to meth and heroin when I left home for university in Norcal, my friends who were also my floormates introduced me to drugs. I stopped studying, eating, exercising, socializing. I flunked out of college and had to move back home. Thousands of dollars down the drain that was spent on my tuition, and my mental health was in tatters. I tried so hard to quit but I kept crawling back to my plugs. The only reason I finally was able to separate myself from that lifestyle was when my floormate OD'd and passed away in 2020. He left behind a 1 year old son at the time. It devastated me enough to make me stop for good. I hope anyone who struggles with addiction can get the support they need.

There is a huge disconnect between us and the older generation, we were raised on social media and have major attention span issues that are increased exponentially by social media and the internet in general. I related to him more than any other person I’ve seen on SWU so far. Jake there is light at the end of the tunnel. Find an inpatient rehab facility and GO.
