@@centurionmk.1365 The car needs it though. Because of the Renault R25's odd structural stiffness and rearward balance, it tended to understeer a lot so Alonso found a way to compensate for it with a very aggressive steering input during cornering.

Not just the car, it's the sound, everyone came out when they ran Schumacher's Ferrari too earlier this year. I took a friend to the 2019 Australian GP and when the two seated came out everyone got quite excited at the sound, my friend asked why they don't have those engines anymore.

Barely watched F1 since the V6 then halo I completely stopped. I've watched this video prolly 30 times tho. Gotta save the planet from climate change by making 20 race cars less pollutant and fuel saving, I guess to trickle down into road cars (lol never) when Tesla already makes a 300mile electric car for the masses. Wonder why the climate changed on the cavemen like 3 times they must have not regulated their camp fires enough. And the halo uhh theres still motoGP/motorcycle racing and those guys make a fraction of the money and fame being fully exposed to crashes.

where did you get this laptime? it was 1.42.7-8 (visually) and Max pole 1.35.25 - so it's 7.5sec. But I know Nando wasn't pushing it and don't know about the setup

Doesn't matter if it's slower. That sound is the essence of F1. They destroyed it. But on top of romanticism: keep in mind that car was made for wider, grooved tires and it has no DRS. Also it's demo laps, they didn't work on setups, you can see the car was so nervous on kerbs and Alonso had to do a lot of corrections, he had plenty of oversteer - whereas on the previous day run he had understeer with another front wing setup. Don't judge the engine - this car would possibly be much closer to today's cars with those improvements.

He realy did! This lap took him around 1min 42s (Start at 0:04, End at 1:46), which is only 3 Seconds slower than Hamiltons Record from 2019 (1:39). Thats quite impressive!

@@danohaffey4205 the squareness of the Michelins allowed him to drive the way he does. He would turn sharply earlier than the traditional method and would cause a great deal of understeer that only the Michelins could handle

@@ElGuatequero Exactly, these are race cars that are designed to go fast, going slow makes the brakes & tires cold which means they wont work, and the aero will not be causing enough downforce so...chain reaction. To your point, this is probably the safest way to drive it, esp if he recalls it from memory.

@@wuaw2011 it does not seem like this. I currently think that after slicks the front part transformed to a more oversteeree attitude thus he struggle to find rear grip. I think it is more a fight to control it because it was a total another car with the lateral force of those michelins-bridgestones.

I am here to re comment, If you check closely he is doing the exact opposite. The car due to slicks has switched to oversteer and he battles before the apex to control the oversteer and then turns drastically. Now I can clearly see that he is doing the exact opposite of the 2005 driving style. Can you see that?

Actually these cars lost a little bit downforce in slipstream and we're quick and didn't need and ers just the engine powa

They were beautiful sounding cars but they struggled to race wheel to wheel as their aero was really badly affected by turbulence.
