I have The Miracle on Ebeneezer Street on my wishlist. I already know this will make me cry. My grandpa was named George and he adored Christmas, but sadly he passed 11 years ago a month before Christmas. For our family it hasn't been the same, but we still carry on with tradition. I feel like George's dad with Christmas, I love creating joy, fun, and generosity with my family and friends, but there's another part that wishes the TV would stop the commercials, a few of the movies, and a lot of the Christmas music in the stores because it's a reminder that he's gone. I understand spiritually he's around, but it's not the same. I think this book will be healing for me. I hope to be able to receive it and read it for next year.
Thanks for this list! I have two middle grade girls and these look like so much fun to read! We have a family book club, and I don’t know how we are going to pick only one for December! We recently read the Vanderbeekers of 141st street by Karina Yan Glaser and that takes place around Christmas too, it was a super sweet book!
No winter down here 😂 ... first week of summer and it's a heatwave ☀️.... lucky I am not a seasonal reader (weather wise) I just don't get that, as I can read winter/summer/autumn (fall) any old time lol Great recommendations can't wait to own Tinsel 😍
This was exactly the video I was looking for! Thank you so much, Gavin. I adored The Christmasaurus and The girl who saved Christmas, and I'm dying to read some more Christmassy/wintery reads😊
I've noticed The Guardians series on your shelves the last couple of videos and I was hoping you would mention them in this video! I've only read the first one and I really liked it. I'm excited to continue the series and I'm so glad that you are going to read it sometime too!
I am so bad at reading seasonally (see: me reading two horror novels at the moment) but I love this video! Tinsel is one on my radar ^.^ Yayy love Matt Haig. I am going to be reading christmasaurus this month!! Hopefully!!
Excited to get lots of festive middle grade recommendations- trying to read more. I have recently bought The Midnight Guardians though, so may try and read that depending on how my reading goes! 💕
How did I not know that Rise of the Guardians was a book? I love film so much and now I need this series as soon as January 1st hits and my book buying ban is over I buying them
one for you there may be a castle by piers torday it was published in 2016 and set at christmas eve it was such a beautiful book but it made me emotional i got it from the library last year and i have purchased my own copy and am reading it this month. i literally had 90 % of the books you recommended ha!. great video as ever
Rise of the Guardians is such an underrated movie! I adore it with my whole heart 😭💙 The books are so magical as well - finally reading Jack Frost this month, followed by a long overdue rewatch! Also you’ve got so many great recommendations I want to extend my already lengthy December tbr😂
I read Breadcrumbs for Believathon and really enjoyed it. The first half takes place at home and in school and my heart was breaking for Hazel who only has one friend, Jack. Trigger warning for bullying and sort of mistreatment from a teacher as well. The more fantastical and adventurous second half is needed after all that angst, even if it's pretty dark as well!
Loved the video...my top 10 are a mix of festive books and books that people need to buy if they haven’t already. I am super excited to get and read The Greenglass House and Winter House, they sound great. I am trying to squeeze in the sequel to The Christmasaurus so hopefully I can fit that in. Would love to get The Rise of the Guardians book and the short book of the Snow Sister. Really enjoyed this, thank you so so much for doing it xx
