So much mental potential has been invested in the making of this video recorder, and that smart person will sharpen his scalpels on the motor that rotates the video head ! WTF
VCRs used to be the golden dream of humanity seeking to record moving pictures and one of the most complicated domestic appliance. To see the making of a sharpener using the video head drum in doing so is the same like seeing how to make matches using the Amazonian forest as a primary source. Are you for real?
Personnellement je ne passerai pas du temps à désosser un magnétoscope pour un tel résultat. Pour aiguiser des couteaux ou d'autres ustensiles il existe des outils bien plus performant. Quant à poncer du bois, on constate que le moteur peine si on appuis sur le disque. Là aussi il y a mieux pour poncer.

J'en ai gardé un du même type car je suis de la génération qui a connu ses débuts. Et à l'époque c'étain une découverte extraordinaire. Il fonctionne parfaitement et me permet de visualiser encore des VHS. Je dis encore car le support VHS a ses limite dans le temps, et par précaution j'ai numérisé toute mes cassettes. La couche magnétique qui contient la musique ou les films se dégrade au fil du temps , surtout dans les cassettes de mauvaise qualité qui ont inondé le marché. Je rajoute une remarque : Ce type de lecteur/enregistreur VHS, en état de marche , est à conserver car dans quelques années ils peuvent se négocier à des prix intéressants. La connexion avec les PC est bien améliorée car de nouveaux logiciels de numérisation sont arrivés sur le marché. Il est maintenant possible de faire de très bonnes copies d'enregistrements sur cassettes VHS qui contiennent parfois des documents très intéressants. Quant à utiliser un magnétoscope pour un autre usage , comme cela est montré dans la vidéo , ce n'est bon que pour ceux qui ont du temps à perdre !!!!!!!

Să înțeleg că dacă eu la vremea ceea aveam 21 de ani ,acu aș fi deosebit de bătrân după cum lasă de înțeles cel cu postarea!Voi ăștia mai tinerei încă mai aveți multe de învățat de la noi, ăștia un pic cu părul alb!Noi ca voi am fost,dar voi ca noi ....??Un Paște fericit tuturor!

Hab noch einen alten VHS hier stehen. Auch noch alte Video8 Aufnahmen von meinem Patenkind. Auf so ne blöde Idee käme ich nicht, wären doch die Aufnahmen für immer verloren!

Eine recht blöde Idee! - Der arme Videorekorder!! / Diesen hätte man genauso gut auch reparieren können, und nicht für ein Schleifgerät für Skalpells oder ähnlichen umbauen brauchen. Dafür gäbe es andere, wesentlich bessere Schleifgeräte! / - Ruhe in Frieden, armer Videorekorder! - Auf Wiedersehen! / Was wird außerdem die Firma SONY dazu sagen? - Hm?!! - Ich glaube nicht, dass dies der Bildtrommel gut täte! - Ganz bestimmt nicht!

That video head drive motor that he chose to use is the head spinning motor and the multiple brown wires coming of from it are related to different phase windings that are to be powered from an appropriate a multi phase shifted drive power from a power IC on the circuit board in the VCR. The power will be phase critical AC drive. This motors whole purpose is to spin that weighty aluminum head drum / flywheel that has sets of record and playback heads that are spaced apart at 180 degrees. On playback of a tape, it is UBER-UBER-UBER !! critical for the running speed of this motor to PRECISELY . . . . and repeat the PRECISELY !!!!! . . . . . duplicate the speed initially used in recording the tape, being critical, up to a to a 1800th of a degree of a SINGLE ! rotation. Otherwise the picture will just slip and slide and the developed? trash video will just be total undistingushable garbage. The TORQUE available from this motor is NOWHERE repeat NOWHERE ! up to producing the "bogging down " that is heard with the wood grinding examples. Look in the background and see a variable DC power supply . . . . . . .is he wanting us to think that DC source is used in powering this AC design motor ? Technically . . . from the electronics aspect . . . . he shows stripping down the brown wires and then concentrates on one wire getting connected to a poly capacitor pulled from the VCR's circuit board, now its physical size equates to it being a max of ~0.1 ufd. If you were to then know the frequency of the phase shifted drive and its voltage amplitude you could then compute the max power level that could be passed through that 0.1 ufd with its capacitive reactance. And I can DEFINITIVELY tell you that it is NOTHING near the torque level being heard. Its more in the order off a gnat breaking a hard wind. The sound produced by the wood sanding demo is more in the order of this unit REALLY being coupled into the permanent magnet DC motor as would be found, and pulled from a DeWalt, Black and Decker, Makita or Milwaukee battery powered power drill.
