Nice fix. 🙂👌 I used to work in a factory, one of the most common jobs was replacing the keyboard membranes for the digital phone handsets. We mainly worked on PABX systems. Now need to get mechanical switches for those car remotes!

Algumas vezes o controlo que liga e desliga o motor que faz abrir e fechar o portão deixa de funcionar, e trocamos a bateria pensando que ela é a causa do defeito. Ocorre, que mesmo com bateria nova, ele não funciona, então pensamos que é defeito irreparável.do controle remoto e o descartamos. Com o método indicado no vídeo, deu para ver que é possível fazer um conserto rápido, eficiente e barato, embora não saibamos o tempo de duração. Valeu a ideia. Greetings from the UK, I think the use of the keyboard pads is likely to be the best long term fix but with much less glue,because super glue does fume and mark plastics It's a good tip and an old keyboard will give lots of contacts for future use.

Use a pin or toothpick to apply the glue instead of those large drops which make a mess!

Hello from the UK, thank you for uploading this, I didn't know contacts like these would stop working. I recently fixed a problem with our Mazda remote not working properly - the battery contacts needed pulling upwards more to make good contact again. Keep up the good work

There are flexable super glues available at hobby shops but most cure hard and can be brittle. A flexable rubber glue may last longer.

Take square inch of aluminium foil, stick to some thin double sided sticky tape. Cut in to 3mm squares with scissors, stick to the rubber pad. Works well and no messy glue!

Hi Miguel! I'm from Illinois, USA. Specifically, about 150km southwest of Chicago. That's a great way to repair remotes, especially when a bit of cleaning won't help. I've also had good success, by using a thin layer of cyanoacrylate glue, and then dabbing some graphite onto the pad, using a cotton swab. It only takes a little, and a small bottle of graphite will last forever. You can also use the graphite, for lubrication, when you can use oil or grease. Also, if the remote had a crystal oscillator, check the connections on the crystal. Especially, the surface mount type. Once the solder connection is repaired, place a drop of glue, where the crystal sets on the PC board. This will prevent the connections from breaking, again. Tip: Most of the remote control chips can tolerate a lot of resistance, across the contacts, before not working any more. Sometimes, up to 1,800 ohms, but usually up to 1,500 ohms. (It's actually specified in the datasheets.) It's just something to keep in mind, when diagnosing them. If the pad reads 100 ohms, when measured with your meter, it may not be the pad.
