there are always groups/bots controlling the market its ridiculous xD tried selling high crafting materia and everything was bought in seconds by the 3 same guys to keep the prices up
@@Sm0ke821 find the bot breakpoints, sell amount and sell quantity, and just sell in blocks under the break point. I made millions off of selling materia.
The trick to making money in 14 is to find a niche that isnt held by too many other people, a few pieces of furniture or some transmogs nobody else on your server makes.
@Sm0ke821 I mean... you still sold it. And nothing besides Gil stops you from doing the same thing they're doing. Besides most materials are not that expensive, finished hq mats and gear are. If all the money you can make comes from vendoring limsa's fish then yeah, you're kinda out of luck, but just regular dungeon going will support most market board purchases you might want, unless you're trying to purchase shit like enough materia to pentameld a fukken gear set.
The Princess trout is sold at the fish monger on the upper decks for 10 Gil you got massively ripped on by the Market Board buying it at 200gil The npc is at x10.3 y13.6 upper decks
@@lilblkrose they have always had a npc selling princess trouts in that monger since ARR If you pause the video at 17:35 the info on princess even says shop selling price 10g
The funniest thing to me is that Lim Sa can be as canonically accurate to a bunny who loves the city and refuses to leave, as most bunnies when they leave their homes become outcasts and usually drop their birth name for what they call a 'city name' which can be basically anything the bunny likes, so yes, Chocolate Bunny is also technically a lore-accurate name for a outcast Viera, I think that is hilarious.
Staying in Limsa for that long afflicts you with a "reduced faith in humanity" debuff that doesn't drop off until you stop playing the game for a while.
it really makes me wonder how fast you could get to 90 with way more gil and the whole game at your disposal. i havent tried crafting classes yet, still grinding msq on my first class.
You should do this in Ul'dah and you have to get all your quest progress for the crafter classes by simply beggining people in town to give you the stuff you need for free.
Right now of all FFXIV content creators you are making the most entertaining videos, so please try not to get burned out lol. Keep up the great work bro!
Nooo when you spent 400 gil on the princess trout I gasped. There is a fish NPC that sells you all the fish for the first 5 fishing quests for like 16 gil or so. I believe it is on the upper Limsa near the blacksmith.
I’m actually curious how far P2W could actually get you in FFXIV 😮 like no accepting the reward gear from quests. Only using the gil you get from the boost and being on Dynamis sort of thing. It would be super freakin interesting because can a P2W beat a F2P?
@@laurel7867 What is this supposed to mean though? FFXIV's primary "pay2win" items are story and level boosting. By themselves they don't really do anything without the other. What you save when buying them is a lot of time and a lot of tedious running around. On top of all store items are untradeable and unsellable in-game and incredibly difficult, if not impossible, to partake in RMT with. Yes the combined story+level boost gives 1 million gil, but you get around 2 million just by doing the entire Main Story Quests depending on how reserved you are with your gil so you're just saving somewhere from 3-8 weeks of play depending on what kind of player you are and how skilled you are at the game.
@@laurel7867 The boosts aren't P2W in the first place. They're Pay2SkipGrind. You don't inherently gain anything an ordinary player doesn't/hasn't. In fact, it doesn't even bring you remotely close to a 'powerful' place, seeing as how your gear is still whatever and replaced quickly. The Gil you get alongside the boost is pennies to most players who make their own, people make 10x that from retainers alone passively once they're leveled up. It gets you exactly as far as it brings you: closer to max level with some chump change and mediocre gear.
@@shi4592 most things in the game are available in the free trial, just not certain features and other things like a wallet capped at 300k gil and the inability to use the Market Board or send Tells to other players.
Limsa was a great, compact regionlock for a single video, but it does make me wonder how far you could take a regionlock comprised of one of the starting citystates, giving you all of Gridania or Thanalan or La Noscea which generally has at least enough content to get to 50
A vylbrand/la noscea lock would be cool because the game actively does not let you leave it till you unlock airships in the MSQ. If you start in Gridania or Ul'dah you can travel to the other by foot and even to Mor Dhona, but La Noscea truly has you stuck. The ships you could take like the one to Vesper Bay don't let you through either. I think you can't even leave via residential zone, but I can't remember to be certain.
@@Can_O_Crayola You should be able to access them when visiting a friend's house or your fc's. But I don't know where leaving lands you when you don't have gained proper access. I can imagine that it'd land you right back where you started.
@@nestrior7733 Back in Stormblood I joined an FC with a Shirogane house long before I reached Kugane. I was able to walk around Shiro, but I wasn't able to leave and access the city. So idk if it's changed since, but at least then, you were barred from leaving the residential area if you didn't have normal access to the surrounding zone.
As a diablo 4 player, I am enjoying that I can actually kill enemies without bs resistance damage wiping me out & being able to do more then kill, kill, kill, level up, get gear & repeat the same process over & over.
I feel like you could extend this "category" to not leaving a determinate area. Such as never leaving the Black Shroud, or never leaving Thanalan or La Noscea. It would certainly give you a lot more to do, but I wonder if the difference would be enough that it gives you good content on it.
oooo misplay at 17:30. Holasfhis in the Upper decks sells Princess Trout for 10 gil each edit: this has already been addressed in the comments, but I'm leaving this here for video engagement reasons
The pain in my soul looking at all the white dots of your fully spiritbound gear pieces..... Limsa Locked is the loophole that gets you out of materia extraction 😂 But truly what an incredibly fun idea!! Crazy wild grind in and out of game to pull off and it was so delightful. Always excited to see what challenge you're gonna tackle next. Much love to your capitalist bun boy 💙 Omg and congrats on 6k subs!!!🎉
This is legitimately one of the best videos I've ever seen. I watched it for the first time three nights ago and couldn't stop thinking about it all day, so every night while going to sleep I've watched it again and again. Seriously, seriously well done.
The thing is with ocean fishing on smaller boats is the chance for a spectral catch to yield a spectral current goes up per person if you have less people, effectively evening out your chances of getting a current. Sure it's dependent on the rest of the people on the boat actually catching spec fish to begin with, but it's not impossible. I've done an ocean fishing trip before with just one other person and I pulled the spec fish on all 3 legs of the voyage, for example.
this shows that the gathering and crafting in this game could be it's own game. FUCK this game is amazing. Having a hard time choosing if this or Elden Ring is my favorite game of all time
These kinda vids really give me 1.0 vibes. Back when you really had to do everything the hard way, when you couldn't gather electrum ore, no you needed to mine rare silver ore and gold ore to craft them into electrum nuggets to craft them into electrum ingots to craft them into electrum rivets to craft them into electrum armor.
I actually made an account like this but I got really discouraged early on due to how locked down it was but this was so satisfying to watch! Really cool to see this played out all the way like this.
this is secondhand info from a friend who does nothing but fish, but, if you miss a spectral in an area, you get all the time and a little more added onto the next area's spectral, iirc ideal point farming is getting no spectral on area 1 or 2, and getting a full area spectral on the 3rd, that does involve triple hook though
also you can desynth octomammoths for a really expensive swimsuit if you wish to deal with retainers (editing this to say: im a fool, you can't even unlock desything without going to mor dhona)
YOU GOT 8600 POINTS ON YOUR FIRST RUN?!?! That is the most luck I have EVER in my XIV life EVER SEEN. Are you kidding me?! Congratulations on the crazy challenge though, lol. Wild stuff.
it isn't recorded, so i know this sounds very "fish this big" but i ran my first ocean voyage at level 52-ish and got i think 11k? it was over 10k on my first voyage
I always felt like your solo series was very OSRS-inspired (by people like Settled) and the opening of this video is proof of that, I love seeing those kind of wild mechanics-focused challenges in this much more story-focused game, its great
What a neat concept! I whiled away many a fun (and sometimes frustrating) hour on Ocean Fishing! My favorite run was ending up on a cruise all by myself at then-cap, lv. 80 -- and getting Spectral Currents in all three legs. If I hadn't already earned the Hybodus mount previously, I would have gotten it all on my lonesome, because that run scored ~11,000 points. Sometimes RNGesus shuns you, and sometimes they shine their Light so brightly even Hydaelyn Herself would be jealous of its brilliance.
You really are an inspiration Rath! before finding your content i managed a very lucky clear on a solo run of the grade 14 treasure map and thought i would count my blessings and never try it again but seeing you prove just how solo'able ffxiv is im now determined to not only repeat my original clear but also clear the grade 15 one too. I honestly feel like you have more than proved to this stubborn old WAR main that its possible and since its solo i don't have to worry about annoying other party members with the many many wipes to come! but if i want this to have any chance of success then i should learn from you, which means its time to finish levelling fisher and at the very least make fish cautious of me xD
I am loving this experience. I am the type who actually enjoys level alts, especially for stuff like crafting and gathering, and this makes the grind of leveling fishing much better than I thought it would be. Ocean Fishing is OP for leveling fisher.
Thank you for being as insane as I never was. That said. Ocean Fishing absolutely is the most fun I had in fishing in a good good while. When I'm someone who leveled Fishing during Mists of Pandaria and ended up liking it. Somehow. But Ocean Fishing is still so so much better, I honestly love it. It has a certain thrill to it I can't put into words. Also The Admiral is still my go-to minion and the Big Shark is one of my go-to mounts alongside the other aquatic ones.
this entire scenario sounds like a plot for a power fantasy manga. "I was trapped in a starting, so fished till I got max level" or something like that as a title.
A fascinating experiment that I will never duplicate. Funny though, Fisher is the first job I max level on my primary character with every new expansion. It's just a tradition. It never occurred to me that Limsa is the only starting city where you can gather.
Heyhey! Soooo I love fishing, and especially 300gp fish from ARR! The way I made a bunch of my money early on can probably be done in this challenge! Normally, desynthesizing fish is fairly worthless, EXCEPT when it comes to a few rare fish! Most of them are from other locations in the game, but one of the special fish is the Octomammoth! If you level up CUL to 30, then level desynth high enough, you can get one of two swimsuits from desynthesizing the Octomammoth! These sell for a few thousand gil each on the market board and tend to sell at the very least once a week! That would hopefully speed through some of the tedium!
It may have already been said but you can actually buy Princess Trout from the Fishmonger in Limsa. Not a huge deal since you still need Harbor Herring for the quest before it but...might help someone?
I think you could request someone to meld materia for you, but I'm not sure if that'd be against your challenge. Regardless, awesome video! There's something about your videos that can keep me engaged even if I've played this game for a 'little' over 2 years and seen most, if not all, that it has to offer.
