As a new Xbox player watching this I honestly learned a lot from this as you went through good stuff made me go back n try out new jobs I didn’t know would help me
@@tinyringtail2979 I even know that jacket is the uldah GC seal jacket. I was using it on free trial. Though players that don't go in blind probably do, being blind sent me all the weird directions (I even made arr crafter "relics")
I could've sworn I had seen your solo character randomly while I was afking/doing stuff in Limsa at one point on Marilith, seeing my FC tag in the background confirmed it because I distinctly remember thinking the character looked rather odd with the green mostly bald look.
Did I watch all the series parts already? Yes. Did I watch Rath's livestreams of his progress? Yes. _(And you should too!)_ Am I still gonna watch a 4-hour compilation of Solo's past misadventures? *YOU BET YOUR SWEET BIPPY I AM!*
fun fact for anyone watching this fun video! Brayflox is actually a female goblin, you can tell because her name ends in "ox", male goblin name end with "ix". another fun fact! Originally the free trial for ffxiv ended right after the waking sands gets raided post-titan, meaning the endpoint was a pretty miserable "all your friends are dead/captured and you're alone" cliffhanger. fun fact 3! the Palace of the Dead is a reference to the tactics ogre series and Nybeth the boss is actually a character from said franchise!
Oh, this might have already been said and this is also 5 month late, but I used 100s of runs of Brayfox longstop to get every class to 50 and am kind of the brayfox master (joke) But against Hellbender if you use a stun right after peculiar light (basic boss centered cast AoE that inflicts magic damage taken increased) then bubble will never happen, you can do this for both bubbles in his rotation since he will not build up enough stun resist and your stun will be ready both times. It'll make the boss a little easier but it's also applicable in normal runs because bubble never happening saves DPS and makes the run faster. (I never thought I'd get the chance to share this info...) PS LOVE THE VIDEOS
We making it out of dzemael darkhold with this one! (I've been following the streams and this series since it started and it's been a wonderful journey! Excited for the start of the Heavenward vids)
I think the best part about this, is how much I feel it captured the old A Realm Reborn feel. Felt like I was rewinded back to when I started playing during 2.0 launch. How crafting was satisfying and useful throughout all the levels and exploring the world. Even if you lvl past them, you must still go back to either gather materials or kill mobs. It filled me with Nostalgia the first time I watched your first post, and it does again when I watched this Omnibus of a video with all of it together. Thank you Rath.
This is actually a lot like 1.0, because crafting gear in 1.0 was NECESSARY. There was no market board and NPCs only sold beginner crap, and all enemies were hard enough that you wanted to be maxed geared at all times, and people USUALLY explored dungeons solo
@@TahuRaisao I know this is a really old comment but is it not supposed to be like that now? 😭 I’ve just started the game and I love crafting and rely on it for all my gear because I’m poor and hate getting scammed by the market board. I get shit on by everything but the main story because I’m just bad so far haha
@@urinelover1428 while crafted gear is not the best this video shows just how far it can take you. Also if you're having trouble with the game there are alot of videos that can teach you everything from basic MMO stuff onward. Lastly I want to say take everything anyone says with a grain of salt (myself included), if you are having fun then you are playing the game right.
@@Somerandomedude-go8el that’s actually such a wholesome comment thank you! It’s been such a blast stumbling my way through it and I’ve never been much of a min maxxer either but I like the game enough I’ll take your suggestion of watching videos on it anyways! FFXIV’s community is so positive and involved that I don’t even feel like I’m “behind” because I’m not max level with full raid gear like WoW.
@@urinelover1428 Oh no, you can still craft and rely on it. That's how people make money and make their own items! Self repairing/melding is great too. It's just not as necessary but a great thing to invest in!
God, everyone gathering around you at Vesper Bay following your victory over Ultima legitimately brought me to tears. Can't wait for the return of the Warrior of Lonely Light and his venture into the lands of Ishgard :)
I'm 1 week into playing FF14 and i am currently lvl35, i could not have come to a better video showing how much you can do in this game and showing all the experiences that the game has to offer! AMAZING FKING VIDEO!
This was such a cool little journey to follow. So fascinating to watch you kill bosses that arent supposed to be killed solo. Where most people would've given up because they value their mental health, you just kept going! Looking forward to watching you continue your road to insanity. ☻
263 days. Rath this has been one of the best series I've ever seen in my time playing FFXIV. Thank you for this amazing content, and I'm glad to have been a supporter of this channel. Cheers mate, and here's to Heavensward! If you're doing Heavensward. ((I'm typing this before seeing the end of the Crystal Tower runs. So I don't know!))
As somebody who made no teleports challenges, one way you could've saved up on money travelling between the main 3 regions would've been to travel via airship - depending on where you wanna go, the tickets end up costing less than the cost of tp
And you can use the Gold Saucer as a middle-man when going to Ul'Dah. Going anywhere to the saucer is free, and then going from saucer to Ul'Dah specifically is *also* free. So you can use the gold saucer to go from limsa or gridania (and then later foundation or radz-at-han) to Ul'dah for free.
(At start of Video) I've definitely thought about doing this sort of thing myself, though I wouldn't go THIS hardcore simply because I wouldn't have fun with it. The question would be where I would draw the lines... It might be a fun way to re-approach the game while waiting for DT. I should think about it more. 6:33 Yea this is such a HUGE gripe for me. Whose bone-headed idea was it to make the lvl1 weaver mat a level 15 gatherer item??? It's so, so dumb. 2:46:00 Oh god this brings back memories. Very early on in my playtime, I decided to pick up miner. I, of course, had no idea what I was doing, so I didn't realize there were two places to get copper, and that EXACT A-rank was sitting smack in the middle of the CT spots to get copper ore. 4:11:20 Wow... I genuinely thought that Chrysalis would stop you. I've seen the rift phase kill so many parties purely from someone using the LB before it, I figured it was practically required, and I suppose it is on level sync, but man... That's incredible. And that quirk with the buffs getting extended? That's REALLY cool, I might have to make use of that next time I do that trial just because I can. I may be a healer, but a little extra DPS never hurt anyone, right? I should have expected others to be doing this challenge too, but somehow I didn't. That is awesome.
What an interesting twist of fate. I got my first Solo Only recommended video shortly after watching the Swampletics supercut. I wonder what new discoveries await me next?
ive used the solo videos as a way to fall asleep quite a few times (their soothing vibes are perfect for nights when my mind wont stop racing lol) so this is perfect
This hurts my brain to think of even attempting...you are genuinely incredible to me. I admire your tenacity and love for this game to do something like this. Good luck on your journey going forward and thank you for sharing it with us!
I didn't know I needed a super cut BUT I NEEDED A SUPERCUT. Thank you Rath!! This is perfect. Love Solo's journey and the progress you've made. So excited to see the rest of Solo's journey :)
@@Drisurk yeeeeah go get em. Its super fulfilling to craft my progression gear myself, definitely recommend it if you aren't trying to rush through stuff :^)
I never realized that 1m gil came from the dynamis msq, but it makes sense why ive seen so many random-name sprouts lately. I'm also gonna shame u for not using true north on your titan fight to eke out that 60 potency up on the final skill of your combo. Shaaaaaame
12:40 "I dont know if i would call 17 minutes swift" bro it took me 40 minutes to clear sastasha with an actual party plus i almost died twice then again i was using basically full starter equipment + a hat
I was super busy over a few days, so I couldn't watch a section per day as planned. To make up for it, I binged the rest of it, and wow... what an incredible journey. Ngl, I actually teared up at the reception after completing 2.0 AND again after you cleared the alliances. That is a ridiculously cool and amazing thing you all accomplished. Ftm, there's a single Heavensward video up, and I'll definitely watch it. But I'm so glad that there are archived live streams of the actual work. More stuff to binge! Am actually so excited to watch the journey - when I catch up, I'll start watching live!
Notably the damaged player aggro *also* exists in Palace of the dead! the boots on like the 30-40 set or something use it iirc. Also the mob survived the instant kill from the manticore swing, because it was damaged from the landmine before, which meant it was due for the passive life regen tick (as it wasnt aggrod at that point/not in combat), which happened in the same time as the damage, which only does exactly their current hp in dmg. Wonky interaction, but not as rare as one would hope lol, it leaves them with exactly as much as that one regen tick. :D
that grind for master recipes as solo only (or free trial) is just a nightmare, i went through the same thing and it was just....so bad. probably the worst single thing in ARR to get on free trial
As a prior free trial player and now what I assume to be a well- accomplished endgame player having completed my first ultimate; seeing you run through all of ARR and seeing mechanics that are obscure or rarely talked about brought me back. Thank you for sharing your experience!!! I've loved every second of watching this journey and hopefully HW is a new challenge to tackle!
Oh also, I know the Batraal struggle in a manner of speaking. When I leveled Blue Mage in this game for the first time, I made it my mission to level it solo and get every spell I could as soon as I could, also solo. This lead me to doing dungeons solo starting at level 16, and I continued to do them solo as I leveled as soon as I could. Even with White Wind, Mighty Guard, and Basic Instinct, Batraal was still able to kill BLU quite easily as I could not get the higher end spells, and so I could not use the full might of Blue Mage against him sync'd, as is a perk of a max level BLU. At level 45 I reached him with about 65 minutes left in the dungeon, and my first run of the dungeon, Batraal ran me out of time completely across 5 or 6 attempts. In my second run of the dungeon I was able to beat him. BARELY. By the end of the fight he was at 6% and I was attempting to kite him some. I ran out of MP for White Wind and my potion was on cooldown, and I needed 2 casts of Blood Drain to get enough to White Wind, so it came down to a make or break moment where Eruption came off cooldown just as he was reaching me, and I Swiftcasted 1000 Needles for the kill. Just as a Grim Fate was starting to go off when I only had 800 HP.
Honestly thinking of going back to ff14 and starting over. I'll have to wait since rebirth is in the horizon, but when thats all said and done to completion i think i really will give it another run
I've seen it all when it was Sundered, but now that the Rejoining is complete, I can watch it again in its truest splendor! You inspired me to start my own solo character too. I adopted a different ruleset, as I don't have a ton of time myself, but I still think it'll come with some challenges at certain points. My ruleset is: 1. I may only use quest rewards and buy from NPCs. No crafting or marketboard is allowed. This means an easy start, but will it remain so easy as I hit the higher level plateaus? (Dungeon gear is fine too) 2. I have to do as many sidequests as I can before progressing the MSQ. Due to the wonky nature of quest reveal requirements being based on level, this is something of a soft rule. Otherwise I would have to grind to level 70 before I could start the MSQ due to the Reaper Unlock quests. (Though I kind of intend to do this in a manner of speaking, because I believe doing Praetorium unsync'd as a 70 reaper or 60 Gunbreaker for a first time completion will be hilarious) 3. For fun I have to try and sequence break as many dungeons as possible. Because of the unstable nature of ARR dungeon unlocks, this means I can unlock high level dungeons before progressing the MSQ. I unlocked my first dungeon yesterday. The first dungeon I have gained access to is Cutter's Cry. 4. Knowing that a 24 man is required to progress, I have exempted it from breaking the run. Since I don't have a squad of ironmen like you do, I will sleep soundly even though it will break my DFless streak. 5. I will also exempt dungeon runs with Grand Company NPCs, as this is required for achieving max GC rank, and the NPCs treat you as a nucleus so if you die they reset to the entrance with you. Also these won't be used for initial progression. 6. Echo/Epic Echo will be allowed, if necessary. Sometimes though, I am going to just unsync and pimp smack anything that I think it would be funny to break by being overpowered. (mainly because I've already pushed myself a lot in BLU solos and other similar solos in the past). Thanks for all the fun watching and inspiration! I'll never be a Rath Gamer, but I am a Rath Enjoyer!
I'm in my WoW phase right now, quit FF14 at Endwalker, but seeing this reminds me of how much better FF14 preserves its leveling/early game experience compared to WoW, which basically made it an irrelevant-but-quick chore with no cohesive story whatsoever, people joke that "the game starts at max level" but I think WoW is the one game where that is actually literally true in every sense of the word. Makes me nostalgic for how much I enjoyed this game at one point.
It was a hell of a journey. Ngl I thought this was a ridiculous series at first, but I've loved following you. I've loved finding about about all these hidden relics of the past that I had no reason to know they were in there.
ive been watching since the first episode, and its really noticeable how the voiceover and the edit quality increases throughout! incredible video(s) and incredible journey 🙌
maybe next time i go through ARR i'll do this (but definitely with fewer limitations haha) going through it solo seems like it would really elevate the perceived threat of the antagonists and dungeons in the story, which would be a really nice change
I've never heard about your challenge run and almost ignored that video, because i thought there is nothing special about beating the game solo nowadays. But i'm glad a friend recommended it, because, currently 3 hours in the video, it was really entertaining and reminded me of my time where i started the game almost 8 years ago, where for example i also crafted every piece of gear myself instead of using quest rewards, shops or market board. And with each hurdle you beat the video gets more entertaining and interesting.
when im watching this, i think to myself hey this feel like my feel trial experience although you took it to the extreme levels of hard, and so interesting to watch and how you solve or handle a problem and some things i can take note on
Wow, okay just finished this and I can say, what a journey. Being someone who rushed through the MSQ just so I can get to EW to do content with my friends, I never truly took a moment to appreciate how ARR truly was, I can imagine the amount of time and effort it took for you to make it this far Rath, and you truly earned the start screen for Heavensward. I'm looking forward to your solo adventures
Finally, you too mastered the wildly popular art of spinning bosses in dungeons. Gongrats! Missed opportunity to fully switch controller, though. Clearly the superior way of playing FF. Jokes aside: Its an amazing journey to follow. Congrats on the countless obstacles toppled on the way, and the result to boot!
Man i cant even rmeember how many times ive actually cried in sheer joy over this video while i watched. Genuinely wonderful content, and huge congrats
