FFV was already notorious among the Japanese community for its low level speed running nature, this can easily be done now with auto-battling most encounters through the MSQ and avoiding encounters with the 8-axis double dashing from the GBA version being in this remake.
Neo Exdeath was never that bad, and speedrunners have broken this game wide open years ago back with the OG. This version just makes getting to this point even faster with myriad QoL improvements, returning bugs from the Asano GBA remake, and the like.
I don't like how they did both of Exdeath's themes. In 1st phase, drums and percussion sound so wierd & way too quiet. Especially snare & tom drums. There's also a criminal lack of bass. Drums are also straight up missing parts. In the OG theme, tom drums are doubled during the very last part, along with added crash cymbals. Now that's both removed. And synth honestly sounds like a mess in some parts and is too loud. In 2nd phase, I'm not a fan that they swapped open notes with staccato @ 0:33 and don't like drums going overly crazy. Snare drum is being abused way too often during fills.
@@rezahydra FFXIV version of this theme sounds way better honestly. Heavier and more menacing. Drums make way more sense. There's no staccato trumpets too.
@@PetarBladeStrok Personally I think it's about the same for Neo at least. And it does have the trumpet there, just it's more drowned into the song itself which is my complaint with that version, the song just drowns together. Even the guitar in it which is oddly missing from this version. Now as for Exdeath Proper? Never been the biggest fan of Decisive Battle in this game but gotta agree, though only slightly. Still sounds well enough here.
