Really? And I thought slagdonna was (so the world's been saying since 1985). Then I heard Michael Jackson was and then ever since the 90s dawned all I ever hear is that EVERY PIECE OF SHIT in the dead music world is. And I also thought shitty Marvel Comic film adaptions were. And the entire extinction of everything on the planet. Shows what I know, huh.
@@kyachdistent1301I live, and have for decades, off grid with no radio reception and no tv. It's really hard for me to hear about new music, and I have to come across it very accidentally, like hear a fleeting moment of something fantastic then wait 10 years to find out what it was. Even still, and especially now because of RU-vid, I manage to find wonderful new, inspiring, good music a lot. Also, some artists who've been going for a long time keep putting out new music that's great. So I'm not sure why you're unable to find anything good in recent times. I don't think you're looking hard enough. I'm making a huge assumption here, I know, but I'm sure you're not living in a remote off grid bush sanctuary, disabled with mobility issues, so you've almost definitely got more chance of coming across it than I do. And RU-vid is the great leveler. Try harder, and open your ears and heart a bit!
@@Slayer_Jesse Sure their 'music's' worse. After all they are a band from the noughties and music's been dead virtually since the 90s...and gets deader each year since. Oh and madonna STILL not dead yet. And even THEN the outrageous pomp of world-stopping proportions in the aftermath will make the queen's passing look like a fly's. But even then, a fly, unlike slagdonna, fulfils a useful purpose and didn't begin the downward spiral of celebrity and art as we know it.
Ron and Russell Mael of Sparks read an interview with Alex Kapranos, where he mentioned Sparks as an inspiration. So when FF were in LA a meating was arranged and the guys got together and it ended with talk about doing something together. This was when FF were really busy touring with their first album. So the project was postponed and nearly forgotten about. Many years later Ron and Russell randomly met Alex in San Francisco, when both bands were playing there on different venues. The co-lab was mentioned again, and now both bands had time. They worked separately sending material and recordings via Internet, and really co-wrote most parts. It wasn't aimed to be a tour, not even an album, but they had fun doing this, so... The first song was send from Sparks to FF just after they met the first time, 'Piss Off'. The second time Ron and Russell sent 'Collaborations Don't Work', that took down all expectations, and FF wrote a new part to the lyrics "I am no collaborator..." 😂 Obviously they must have had a great time together, why would they otherwise have done this, put so much work and effort in this for so long time? In my opinion, this collaboration worked very well! 😁
Well... After when Sparks and FF met and loosely spoke about a collab (around 2004/2005, and FF was really busy) Sparks wrote and recorded this, and e-mailed it to FF. The guys liked it, but had too much to do at that point, and neither Sparks had so much spare time. When the bands finally got together much later (2012??🤔), much thanks to Kapranos's broken tooth i San Francisco, they had just a couple of songs on their minds, a single. 'Piss Off' was nearly forgotten, and Ron came up with 'Johnny Delusional' when the songs were already set, so there were some last minute remodeling. I think it says a lot about how the bands felt for this collaboration, aiming for a single, ending up with an album (the longer issue 16 songs) and a tour, on both sides of the pond. However, I think that the two first songs, presented by Sparks, 'Piss Off', and then 'Collaborations don't work' took any tension away, I mean, just the titles says it all!!😂 (Yes, Kapranos wrote the passage "I ain't no collaborator....")
This is one of the most fun amalgams of music and visuals I've seen in a long time. So wonderfully madcap. If only more bands were this concerned with not taking themselves seriously.
Err, how the hell CAN Panz Pernadez take themselves seriously in the first place? Apart from working with an actual group of incredible structure who know how to be funny, witty, caustic and NOT stupid?
Wow!!!! Sparks never lose their charm since 1972!!! Yay! And Frand Ferdinanz are now suddenly on the top of my list of recent "alternative" bands to keep following!
God knows why. How are they any different to anything else farted out on us since the days music died. Sparks only made them useful for this tiny amount of time, and that's cos they're with Sparks and nothing I can do about it. Should just be grateful it's not something like None Direction, Adele bitch or Lilith Allen!
@@LucyWest370 Why are you so dumb? I'll share a little fact of life with you...we AGE as we live, it's something that is happening every year of our lives. @@LucyWest370I'm old and I love the music of Sparks, all of it, even the latest album, and I really like FF, or PP if you prefer. It's not being old, it's being untouchably and unmovingly stuck, impossible to impress or cheer up.
That Franz Ferdinand and Sparks wrote a song called 'Piss Off' is not in any way unusual. That they gave it a _music video_ is certainly unexpected and worthy of celebrating.
when youve sat down after 3 hours prepping dinner for half appreciative guests and you realise your courtesy and patience is running on low and its 11:45 "POINT THEM TO THE DOOR, WHY DONT YOU PISS OFF TONIGHT" yes ive been there with cling ons over staying thier wepcome
I can't stop thinking in Sub zero, Scorpion, Reptile, Smoke, Ermac, Rain & Noob Saibot HAHAHAHA I have a problem with Mortal Kombat, i see it everywhere (?) Good vid ♥
I am convinced that the guys in FFS have achieved exactly what they wanted, to provoke, confuse and make people wake up and THINK. Instead of just swallow something colorless. I'm sure they wanted people to react like many seems to do, perhaps they wished for more laughter, though. I don't know much about FF, but anyone who has came across a Sparks song should recognize HUMOR! Crazy, unpredictable humor. Expect the unexpectable! This goes so well with the music, lyrics on the other hand... But after a second thought, who could actually misstake them for saying anything else than PISS OFF!! Can't be "Come and give me a hug" 🤣🤣🤣! But that's a part of the humor😂!!
Is there anything to know about a band from the awful noughties? Granted they'd the taste and brains to not only cover a much-ignored single by much ignored Aussie's The Go-Betweens (SURELY you weren't even born than, Kapranos?) as well as buzz round the Mael's honeypot, trouble is though there's no way of fully enjoying this as an actual Sparks album when an act of the dreaded non-future is there with them. And there's no fully non FF FFS copy thereby (incidentally thought it stood For F'fs Sake" when I heard about it; I now realise that'd be our response).

First time I listened this tune I imagined something like old musicals and comedy films (Chorus Line, Porky's, something like these ones) for an eventual clip But... The actual looks like Mortal Kombat, Tokusatsus, Powerpuff Girls and big headed charges! We've got suprised again!

@@robdavidson1876 Haha! 😂 "A woman's got to do, what a woman's got to do"! The more of all these stupid comments I read here, the more I connected to the lyrics. And even so to the old Sparks song 'I'm Not' (on 'Introducing Sparks').
@@sachertorte1000 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-D-KLPgHbieY.html Sparks, or Ron most likely, wrote this one for the 1977 album 'Introducing Sparks', their seventh album. I think 'Piss Off' is a more bombastic, uptempo version of 'I'm Not'. And I feel so comfortable with both songs 😂😂😂🥰
This song has always made me think of teenage years where you're moody as fuck and no one understands you. I imagine they are channeling this for this video. A computer game they played a shit ton of, power fantasies and super heros. All sounds like the crap I played and thought about at age 15/16. (apart from being desperately to get girls of course)
seems like much of FFS's work is about being a nerdy teen - Johnny Delusional delves into how a hapless nerd feels when they see someone out of their league, and "Collaborations don't work"... well, you've been on a group project before, right?
@@rwall514 No. 🤦🏻♀️ "Collaborations Don’t Work"- "Music and lyrics by Ron and Russell Mael, except for the break by Alex Kapranos and Nick McCarthy (when the seven-plus minute long epic morphs into something else entirely with an acoustic section). Ron and Russell sent the operatic piece to FF, and they responded with a one-minute ‘rebuttal’, which was inserted into R&R’s song. It’s almost a song within a song! (Similar to McCartney’s brief interlude within Lennon’s ‘A Day In The Life’.)" *Additionally, Ron & Russell Mael wrote the lyrics and music in their entirety for "Johnny Delusional." The Maels wrote the lyrics for "Piss Off" as well. They're classically Ron Mael lyrics. Nothing whatsoever to do with Franz Ferdinand's songwriting. You must not be too familiar with Sparks.*
@@rwall514 "Roving nitpickers"? 🙄 No, you mistakenly attributed several songs to Franz Ferdinand that were in fact written by Sparks and emblematic of the latter band. Check on who wrote the songs you're supposedly making a point about instead of attributing them to the wrong artist.
I assume you know that FFS is a collaboration between Franz Ferdinand and Sparks. Sparks released their 24th studio album earlier this year. So...😂, any comments on this: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-dLxPIOxgkM0.html ?😉 I absolutely love it!
I love how deliciously, stupidly, ridiculously bad this video. Which is perfect . . . as if to say: "No artsy music videos this time! Let's just try to make the most intentionally cheesy thing possible so we can commence with the cheap beer drinking and video game playing we long for deeply in our souls." No?
