FFXIV Endwalker Patch 6.1 Level 90 Ninja Guide, Opener, Rotation, Stats & Playstyle etc [Outdated] 

Some things I missed. - For the odd re-opener you should be applying Suiton sooner then in the footage, around 17-20 seconds before Trick attack is coming off cooldown to allow you the usage of 2 Raitons and 2 Raijus in your trick attack window. - Ninki gauge, don't overcap it, just spend it as it comes for the most part unless Bunshin is coming off cooldown, hold onto Ninki for that. Holding onto Ninki for your burst window will most likely see you overcapping unless there has been downtime. Ill add to this pinned comment anything else I feel needs to be pointed out or elaborated further

Love the guide! A small tip that may be useful for new players on remembering all the different ninjutsu (or at least this is what helped me "memorize" all the ninjutsu) is that order doesn't matter, it's only how many signs you make, and what sign you end on. Raiton is 2 signs and ends on Chi, Suiton is 3 signs and ends on Jin, etc.

I can honestly say you are by far thee BEST channel for FFXIV how to guides. Like for real. I only watch your videos when I'm learning a job. So clean and professional while being very informative and detail oriented. Thank you for doing what you do. Because of you've I've been able to practice and become a better Ninja. Along with all the other side jobs. Honestly I watch your videos to see if I even want to unlock a job haha. I hope you keep doing what you do.

Hey man this was the first video of yours I watched for FFXIV. I began playing a few months ago and this inspired me to try ninja, although I raised most tanks and healers to 90 too. Unless something changed, your 1 minute/odd minute should have 2 rations and raiju’s in it. You should start casting suiton between 17-20 seconds before trick, which allows you to have 2 mudras for it.

Thanks for the guide, very good research there - I learned one thing or two I missed in my own calculations, especially in the first opener (e.g. Aeolian Edge+Bunshin > Phantom Kamaitachi within first Mug+TA). There is just one or two things that I would consider changing: 1. After Mug + TA fade off your Openers or Reopeners while using potions: always try getting the last GCD down to Aeolian Edge (most bosses will allow that) and refrain from refreshing your Huton with Armor Crush if it would not fall off on the last GCD. 2. The reopeners will change a little over the course of a longer fight (which comes down to having a very small priority list in your head): Every TA or Mug+TA where you don't have Bunshin => use Suiton as early as possible (17+ seconds before TA) to get another use of Raiton over any Raiju or (as this will have lower potency even with Bunshin) Aeolian Edge because the Raiton Potency is higher than any GCD without Bunshin. This also would have you change your odd reopener so that you get 1 more Raiton + Raiju over at best a Spinning Edge and a Gust Slash and your even reopener to prioritize using a Raiton over a Raiju. But this goes only for hard damage optimization on 90, otherwise everyone should stick to your guide imho.

I have been looking for a guide on how to Ninja since I got it to 90, and all the guides are "do this, this, and this" which just confuses the hell out of me. Love your guides! The great thing about NIN is that after many hours of practice, you don't need to pay attention to your hotbar since the rotation is so static. This class lets you focus on mechanics more.

I changed my main to ninja while I work through stormblood. I really enjoy it, but it's not as easy as redmage. I'm finding it harder to solo encounters in the open world. As far as the guide, the advice is good, and after playing all this ninja, I actually followed the whole time. I too only know my combos as 1 2 3, 1 2, 1 3 2, etc lol

The only thing that counts for Ninjutsus is the last sign you use and the number of signs you use, the outcome is always the same. As example all ninjutsus that use 2 signs and ends with ten are the same and all the ninjutsus that use 3 signs and end with ten are the same.

Thanks Azurite, nice guide - I'm tempted to pick up ninja for endgame stuff now. Just two things - I think having labels for ability names could help in the openers section for those of us that struggle with remembering symbols on alt classes (just me? XD). Second, and perhaps this is a more general question - do you have a guide for when to use re-openers? It seems to me that sometimes abilities like kassatsu won't be ready after downtime. I can't really find any info about this online easily. Thanks again!

Bunny Mage is the best Ninja ability. It’s a 90% buff to aesthetic.

Why use the potion in that spot, wouldnt it be better to use just before engaging as u can fit all the opener in its window anyway?

You mentioned keybinds, but are there macros/keybinds for execution of mudra+ninjitsu that are good? I ask because I'm newly trying out ninja and it feels pretty overwhelming remembering everything and their order. So a macro to just click a button a few times to execute certain actions (like in duties when you play thancred in norvrandt or zero in garlemald) would be a huge help just getting familiar with things easier. 🤔

If I got Gunbreaker to click in my head, and I can get that rotation down perfect, I can do this….maybe. It's gonna be the filler phase that's gonna trip me up. Avoiding overusing Ninjutsu so I have 2 charges ready for Re-opener.

it seems so weird to me that the optimal opener has you throw in a random aeolian edge before getting to your heavy hitters. even if it gives another bhavacakra during trick attack it just seems so unnatural

What glamour is that

Hide your hotbars so they are only reveal when you are doing your mudras. Either you will get it right or fail this is the way of the ninja

Ninja job in FF14 is, without a doubt, the hardest class in ANY MMO that exists. You have so many buttons and ways of playing, so it's insane. And I THINK you SHOULD mention that just because you can do all your combos on a wooden dummy in the game, then it does NOT mean you can implement that in a fight just like that.

I found your cooldown before the odd minute roto to be.. very confusing. you casted raiton and raiku during it, which confuses me because not only does it misalign your trick attack window but you're using very powerful burst skills outside of a burst window.. and then in the next burst window you only managed to fit one raiton in. am I missing something here or?

Dont know if I like this opener but it's alright. I would at least time Phantom Kukuchichuchu after trick attack, it has a very high potency.

how does.. huraijin fit into the rotation? wouldn't you just use that to apply huton instead of wasting a mudra on it? or am i misunderstanding something

I’m thinking about getting the game but the amount of shit on the screen and keybinds is overwhelming. Are all those abilities necessary or is there only a few you use.

As a main ninja, this is a help for me to get even better. But also, I've noticed that people use doton in boss fights a lot. Doton doesn't work on boss fights, so I end up telling them. They never knew, so it was a nice headsup. But when a friend from the FC use it, she knows, but she still wanna do it, so I just let her xD So yeah. Doton has no effects on boss fights, not even the one in the newest dungeon. I tested it

man i'll be honest, looking at how you need to hit specific things to optimize DPS just makes it not fun. I look at this and am super intimidated as a controller user with only 16 slots.. Iunno.. if this is the check to see if i can do savage content I guess i'm not cut out for stuff like that, i keep failing at like 12% to go with ninja.

Ninja was really good at 5.0, but sadly it was lacking DPS and wasn't rewarding enough. Gameplaywise it felt really great. The new Ninja is meh. I don't like it anymore and i was a Main since 2.4 who really loved this Class. TCJ was always bad designed and stills needs to be changed. The Effect that you can't use anything else expect Ninjutsu is fine, but Ninja needs to be capable to move while doing that. (Of course with the cost of potency losses, but still it makes Ninja more flexible) Raiton stacks should be collected up to 3. So that we can decide when we use those Raiju. I really dislike the fact that i'm forced to use one right after Raiton. Also i don't get the Trick Attack changes at all. Trick is up all 60 Seconds, so naturally it aligns with all 2 Minute buffs. The Trick Attack without buffs might not be a big gain, bit still was a little gain. And it didn't hurt anybody. The only reason i can image why they changed that Raid Buff Window is because people are having trouble to do the Mudras right and don't get Trick up when it's the right time.

Pronunciation of the different Ninjutsu are off. (I am just going to stick to some of the things in video order. Probably will not get to everything.) I know certain sounds are not present in English, like the Japanese R or the other vowel sounds for a lot of these but these should help you sound more like a proper weeb... I mean ninja. This is a quick and dirty guide. If you actually want to learn better Japanese pronunciation then there are plenty of videos out there. I recommend watching a certain RU-vidr named Dogen for better guides. General sound guide. R's = Mush your R so you flick your tongue on the area above your upper teeth. a = all sound like "ah". i = all sound like "ee". u = all sound like "oo". Push the sound a little further into the back of your mouth/throat and not in the front with your lips. e = all sound like "eh". Although this can also sound more like an "ay" sound especially if it is an elongated Japanese e. o = all sound kinda like "oh" but less rounded off. Ry followed by a vowel = Just like with the r, but slide into a "y" sound. Follow with the vowel sound as above. Ex. Ryo sounds like a rolled R into a "Yo" similar to "yo whats up". Hy followed by a vowel = Start with the "H" noise like with the English pronoun "He" but smush into the "y" and then into the next vowel sound similar to the Ry combo as above. Mudras Ten = Sounds just like the English number ten. Chi = Chee. Jin = Jeen. Make sure your ee noise is pretty short. But avoid the short English i sound like in Gin (the alcohol). Fuma Shuriken = Foo-mah Shoo-ree-kehn. This is actually Fuuma so make sure your "oo" noise isn't stunted. Raiton = Rye (like rye bread) - ton. Slur the ah sound into an ee sound to complete the Rye portion. Avoid rounding off your O for the "to" portion. It should not sound like toe and should sound closer to the vowel sound in ton (as in "a metric ton"). Finish off with an "n" sound just like in the English word "ton." Katon = Kah-ton. Pretty similar to English reading rules. It is not KAT-on. Hyoton = Hyo-ton. If I had to stretch it out you could sort of say it like "Hee-yo-ton" but it should fit into two beats like "hyo-ton". Just get that hissing H sound to slide into a "yo" and you should be good. It is NOT HIGH-yo-ton. Huton = Whoo-ton. Make sure to elongate that oo because this could also be written as Fuuton. A short oo becomes Futon which is something you sleep on. Funfact this is the same Fuu in the Fuuma Shuriken. Doton = Doh-ton. Once again you'll sound more natural if you can avoid rounding off your O sound too much but it sounds fine with the English "oh" noise. Suiton = Sooee-ton. The oo into ee sound should be pretty quick as neither are elongated. It is NOT Soo-ton. Intermission! Kassatsu Kassatsu = Kahs-sah-tsu. After the "ah" sound from Ka, we "elongate" the s sound before starting on the sa. This is because 活殺 is かつ (katsu) running into the S sound from さつ (satsu) which gives us かっさつ. A small tsu where we sort of double up on a consonant sound. It's hard to explain what we're really doing here but generally this is taught to English speakers like saying the double K's in bookkeeper. Goka Mekkyaku = Goh-kah Mehk-kya-koo. Azurite actually came pretty close on this one. Just need that double K like in bookkeeper but the rhythm was good. Elongated "oh" in the Goh part. Romaji would be Gouka. Hyosho Ranryu = Hyoh-shoh Ran-ryuu. Make sure to avoid adding that ee sound between the H and Yo and the first part is pretty easy. Going from N to a Japanese Ryu sound is rough even in Japanese. Elongated "oh" sounds on both Hyo and Sho and elongated oo on the u in Ryu. Romaji is Hyoushou Ranryuu.
