@@setsuya5785 They LITERALLY weren’t! We saw on the moon the souls that were still trapped within Zodiark. To classify their existence, they were in a coma at best. Never dead. Trapped inside Zodiark for a decamillennium. Poor Hythlodaeus and others. And all of them accept the recyclability of nature. That’s why Emet called us inferior. They planned to raise many Elpis’ worth of puppies to feed them to Zodiark and free their compatriots and restore the paradise. I think that’s a very realistic goal. (It’s also wasn’t confirmed whether regular animals in Elpis had souls like Ascians or us, so they’re truly inferior). But Venat was like “Nah. I knowingly and without your consent, kill all of you. To bring forth a new collection of species that will cause suffering to each other. Forever.” Bruh. Sounds like something satan would do. FF14 has an amazing story. EW made me cry at times. I’ll love mommy forever. But the more you think about it, the more you realize the inherent problems with some of the plot points.

@@crypto66 no she did not choose to defend everyone exist. Despite knowing what causing the calamity SHE choose to not tell anyone. She 'tested' the humanity without even asking them the question. with everything she learned from us she could have saved the ancient society. And her excuse? Because some of his people wanted to have a utopian life where no one knew any suffering. Is striving for better things is bad now? Because that's her entire philosophy boils down to. "Dont try to live perfect lives. its impossible, forsake the very idea itself. Suffer and embrace suffering. And if you are not willingly gonna do that, i'm gonna make you all suffer." She is the cause of every evil we face in our own universe at Aetheris. Before sundering there was no childbirth death, no bone cancer, no kids that died by hunger and aten by vultures, no horrible crimes such as rape, murder or torture. For thousands of years, she caused that. None of them existed in Aetheris before. Multiple times its been said, despite having very very rare fucked up individuals(like lahabrea's wife), ancient society was very cohesive. They didnt even disagree on dress code (which also bothers me that they are that willing to forsake self identity to be cohesive but that's another thing) let alone committing crimes. And the narrative justification of the game? "Don't live in too good circumtances because then this happens" and showing us bunch of aliens that facing problems that even ancient greek philosopher taught as exercises and found answers for let alone any modern ones? * A society that solved every problem but didint think solving the problem of boredom * society that developed science to the degree to find out heath death of universe but didnt think even the simplest questions such as "okay, how we can go to another universe or how we can survive the heath death" that even i can come up with while i write this * robots that decide to become strongest but didnt even bother to decide what they would like to do once they reach their goal and these are the examples if 'mommy' didnt sunder us how humanity would look like? give me a break. like every story teller does certain elements of story telling good. like some do incredible political intruge, some do incredible world building. some do incredible techno /magic bubble that looks almost makes sense... some do philosophy very good... but each good story teller usually have more then one blind spot as well. FFXIV team did alot of these types of stories a justice. But they failed miserably at philosophy. I wish they leaved alone. Or get some outside help. After everything she did, what hydaelyn deserved was getting sundered and joining in our fragmented existence where we cannot do anything but reminiscense the memories we have no hope of remembering while being victim of cruelities this weakened states invites, and even causing cruelities that this ignorance brings... Let her live her own hell for untold millenias as 13 fragments. That's what she deserve. What she 'had to suffer' is nothing compare to what everyone endured. She got her identity, her conscienceness her morality intact. Can you imagine taking these from someone yet causing them to exist? Its worse then thousand death. Imagine waking up one day and remembering every single atrocity you commited, every shameful and horrible thing. And that IF people of aetheris can ever merge back to themselves complately at all. She played with people's lives, memories, emotions. For the demented idea that "life requires suffering and only I CAN tell if you suffered enough". She is worse then ascians.

@@sethrougen8968 So much text just to be so wrong. No, she could not have saved the Ancients; they didn't want to save themselves. They just wanted to hide behind Zodiark and pretend the Final Days isn't happening, living "perfect" lives until either Zodiark can't protect them anymore or ennui takes them like the 3rd world in the Dead Ends. The Ancients were so complacent, they stopped trying to be better. You really should be sure you understand what's actually happening before engaging in philosopical tangents.

If ask me, it's that moment where only relatable character in the expansion offed his own turret on that train in winter wonderland. Bloodstain is still there. Track "Home Beyond the Horizon" also does not sound the same after experiencing that.

As someone who has witnessed the story despite having been unable to play the game for himself… *Prepare to cry.*

I shouted “I CANNOT SEE THE SCREEN THROUGH MY TEARS” in the final zone. Had an immediate response that read “Walk tall, Warrior. They need you.” and I soldiered on. I don’t think I’ll ever forget that.

That's weird cause I had the exact opposite experience. Went into EW without any distrust; came out of it feeling she's in some respects the antithesis to the WoL. Which COULD have been an interesting contrast-if it was acknowledged at all in story. And no, I don't mean she was evil. Venat and the WoL had much in common; but Venat was a fatalist while the WoL is the breaker-of-fate.

Even the biggest Hydaelyn haters in Shadowbringers could not anticipate just how evil she would become. Genocide against her own people. And we all just go with it.

Hey man it's okay, life can come at you fast and before you know it the freedom you had before can feel greatly reduced. I think about this a lot too. I haven't been able to better the situation for myself, but I've been able to appreciate my free time better, to enjoy the little things in life while a work to make a better future to myself... it might not be the greatest of comforts, but I think taking comfort in what you can in your way forwards, knowing you'll have a brighter future is necessary sometimes Much love ♡

I'm doing okay 😊 Just been getting worked to death lately, and I got fat over NA winter, sitting behind a computer for 50-60 hours a week (I'm a software engineer). But I do have it good. I've got a wonderful wife, friends, and family. And I'm not too big yet. Most people wouldn't even think I'm fat. I just need to get active again. I just used to do a lot of manual labor, working for a local brewery, which I really enjoyed, but it paid crap, so I had to move on. I just miss those days. I woke up today and decided to apply to a ton of jobs and find something better. I've already got 1 application done so far! You're so kind. Thank you!

Not really, if you want to do the whole story, plus the hard content, plus group content you won't have to grind. The MSQ gives enough exp to ensure you will level at least 2 to 3 different classes. Oh yeah, you can play all 22 classes on the same character! The game has some grind aspects, but it's NOTHING compared to other mmos. To the point where the community actually complains sometimes that there isn't a harder, longer grind for relic weapons and other transmog items

Gonna add my 2 cents as well, while the game does have a couple of negatives here and there (some jobs can be slightly samey, all of the healers are only guaranteed two buttons to deal damage, dungeons mostly being locked behind story progression), the game also has a lot of positives (a slowly built up, rather expansive world, a story that doesn't just start you as some famous person but develops with your character at the center of the story without quite making it feel like your character is the outright center of the world, what grind does exist, while capped per week usually, is designed with minimal playtime needed to hit that cap so that people with busy jobs (like the devs themselves) can still log in and relatively keep up in relation to people that play the game hardcore). This all said, I think the biggest sign that the game is worth playing is slightly hidden in my last bit there: the game's devs actually will play their own game for fun as well, and design content such that anyone should be able to clear it, even the madman that is the game's producer&director (who does the game's most difficult content as the most immobile job in the game and does so well).

Oh, and one last bit to add: if you're on the fence, you can outright play the base game and first expansion completely free as part of the free trial (which would get a character to level 60) as long as you want, and if you find you like the game, you can then choose to purchase the full game, and only then would you have to pay the subscription. And even if you did subscribe, there is an option to limit yourself to one character per world to reduce your monthly cost, which would make it slightly more affordable anyway since you can level literally all combat jobs and non-combat jobs on the same character without any issue.
