Going to be honest the learning stage of fighting games is what I enjoy the least so I appreciate how simple and fun you made it. I'm one of those people that would spend weeks in the training room before even my first match and I bore myself lol. Anyway keep it up you're becoming my go to channel not just for granblue but fighting games in general. Also you from New York? Just asking from the way you say depth (also a new yorker myself)

Good insights. Been learning characters in games for decades, and agree w/your method. RU-vid character guide, watching good players, training, then vs., then replay review, etc. No interest in Bubs, except beating him (only done it once). Maining Soriz. Tried learning Charlotta, Lowain, & hope to learn Kat. Never won a match w/Charlotta. Maybe I should drop her as a sub, or keep trying. Fun vid.
This is an awesome video I just picked up the Kombat Pack for Mortal Kombat 1 and I am having a ton of fun with Homelander in offline play but I’m ready to actually learn him more in depth and take him online to start learning the game competitively and I must say this should really help me out big time.
@Diaphone thanks for this guide, I’m a huge DC Comics’ fan so, I’m trying to learn Injustice 2 as Scarecrow and I’m not sure where to even begin because, for the most part I don’t know how to optimally learn a new character and I end up spending hours learning cool combos right off the bat with any new character I pick up in a fighting game and then go online and immediately get my ass kicked because, I don’t know what I should be doing to optimally learn a fighting game character. Thanks to your guide on how to optimally learn a new fighting game character then, I should have more fun getting into my first competitive fighter with Injustice 2 which still has a healthy online player base 4 years and counting from release.
Awesome video! I just picked up Street Fighter 6 for my Xbox Series X and I thought man this should be really helpful as I think I want to play Chun-Li but I’m honestly not sure yet because, there are so many cool characters in this game to try from the gameplay I have seen
I’ll probably pick it up this weekend and go through the tutorial and mess around with the roster a bit and see who looks cool to play and then learn the basics with them and then play a few matches after I master the basics with him or her and just see if it feels right.
I can’t wait to pick up guilty gear strive just the base 15 character roster just to learn the game with my cousin Grey for fun as we both are interested in learning the game from the ground up so we will probably end up going through the process and testing out what we’ve learned in the game against each other in casual matches online and I can’t wait. I will definitely be using your guide though and I sent it to my cousin as well so we can have an easier time picking up this awesome game that we both tried out at Game Arena a local gaming Internet cafe type place and absolutely loved it although we were just button mashing and not knowing what the hell we were doing we still had fun doing it so there’s that so, we decided to just pick up the game and get into it together for fun.
@Diaphone this will be a fantastic resource for me when street fighter 5 releases when I pick up the game day 1 probably the ultimate edition or whatever the call it that will get me all the upcoming DLC content so I don’t have to pay separate for it down the line. I’m interested in a lot of different characters in the game but I’ll most likely be studying up on the systems pre release as there’s already been system breakdowns on RU-vid from the earliest build of the game and I can’t imagine the general gameplay systems changing too much in the final release of the game. I understand there may be some balancing tweaks to the overall mechanics once the game releases however, I honestly can’t imagine the games core systems being drastically altered by release though so it may do me some good to study up on how the core mechanics work so I can get to work learning them and how to apply them in game once it does release.
@Diaphone yeah, great advice I guess I won’t really know if I truly like Scarecrow and if he feels right gameplay wise until I start going in and playing some matches but, like you said there’s certain universal mechanics and fundamentals across the genre I should learn first to make sure I actually get the most bang for my buck. I think I like Scarecrow as of right now but, that very well could change once I go online to play some matches and get a feel for the character once I master Injustice 2’s mechanics as well as general fighting game fundamentals.
@Diaphone I decided to learn MK11:Ultimate as my man Rambo as he’s extremely fun and even though he’s considered by many to be the worst character in the game I’d rather learn and make a character work that is considered the worst in the game then play a character that’s top tier and I don’t have any fun with if you know what I mean.
Thanks @Diaphone I really want to learn my sexy Queen Reina in Tekken 8 and she seems pretty difficult but so badass not to learn in Tekken 8 so, since this works for any fighting game I think I will use this process to learn Reina in Tekken 8.
just learn however you want. i'm not used to having guides or match footage in most games I play. I don't think theres any optimal order in learning. you can just start with matches, look up matches, guides, training mode, etc. different people probably learn better in different ways too which is not really talked about. but you didn't mention that you should look on mizuumi for some info. or dustloop if you like asw stuff specifically
Hello Diaphone, I have a Quick question. Why all Beelzebub player do a jab before the teleport? I know you said that in the video but it was not really clear for me
It’s for timing, in order to get better time your meaty jab for some knockdowns. Typically after ex slash move. But you wouldn’t do after a throw.. because you have less advantage.. just teleporting is enough
At what point would you say one should learn a new character? I'm currently a Djeeta player in japan and I'm hard stuck at S5-S4 for a long time now and I thought I'd at least get to master before I move onto another character like Narmaya. But do you think getting to that level of play is even necessary before a switch?
Personally I think a great time to learn a new character is when you’ve hit a “plateau” or you feel stuck for a bit. Learning a new character gives you a new perspective and allows you to take a step back to reinspect underdeveloped parts of your game.
There’s also the part of me that wants to say, learn new characters when you feel like it and it’s fun. It’s valid too, you just need to be careful to make sure you focus on the fundamentals and stay disciplined to avoid a perpetual character crisis lol
Not too sure if I’ll end up liking Reina or not we shall see but, hey I gotta start somewhere right and might as well learn the game mechanics as Reina and then if I take her into matches and I don’t seem to like her, that’s ok I can keep trying out characters until I find someone I do like since you did say that once I understand the main basic mechanics I can learn any character I want in the game
