early in the game they were knocking down 3s left and right, and they had a 26 point lead at one point and then they lost, I’m not sure if they would’ve beaten KU but they could’ve 💯 beat Michigan

One of the best March Madness memories still. FGCU had fun and played with confidence and dominated their first 2 games. It’s kinda like a Disney story movie where the bad boy inner city kids didn’t get recruited to the big schools so they go to this small Florida school and just dunk on everybody

I will never forget walking into my buddy's house for our annual tournament watch party having already picked that win over GTown. My friends looked at me like I was a fortune teller. That FGCU team was a nightmare matchup for GTown. They put up a ton of points all season, had a ton of assists doing it, and GTown lived and died shutting down shooting in the half court.

That's one of the great things about March Madness. The neutral sites and doubleheaders allows the fans, on and off the arenas, to appreciate quality hoops and finding more about good teams that they're not likely to watch in the regular season

I doubt UMBC makes it past the Sweet 16. The UVA game was a combination of UMBC will, hot shooting, UVA missing their cornerstone player, UVA going cold, a non-flexible offense, the defense being shot over by UMBC, UMBC playing small ball, and UVA giving up at the 10 minute mark. The retrievers deserved it, but the matchup was perfect for them to feast on an injured, inflexible Virginia team.

Yep, only made it to the tournament two times after the fact. 2021 they had a fluke tournament run in their conference to win the Big East but that was just smoke and mirrors. That’s what college basketball is about, sometimes there’s wins and losses that make or break these teams. Virginia losing to UMBC fueled them to win it all next year while Missouri (who used to be a somewhat regular tournament presence) hasn’t been the same since losing to Norfolk State.

I think the only reason Florida won was because in the end FGCU kinda lost their mojo. They were up against the university that; growing up in the state of Florida, was always considered one of the "big dogs" of the state by a lot of the players on their team. They got some dunks in but they weren't able to dominate the game. I think if they had ran into any other "big dog" from outside of the state they would have kept on going. lol.

This was my favorite cinderalla ever. they werent just squeaking by teams either, they totally embarrassed some of their opponents like georgetown. and their game was so free and easy, the entire team was in the zone. Look how fast they get back on D after a big dunk -- dudes are running full speed to get down the court. Effort!!
