UPDATE: Since the debut of two new append skills from FGO JP's 9th anniversary in August of 2024, the total number of servant coins to unlock all append skills and raise a servant to level 120 is now 900 servant coins, HOWEVER, the amount of coins earned between bond levels 7 thru 15 were also increased to allow the player to earn 240 additional servant coins to fully max out a servant to level 120 with all 5 append skills now
Aside from securing 120 coins for Append 2 on selected Servants, Servant Coins are, in my opinion, the last thing you should be chasing after. The cost/return ratio of everything involving Servant Coins, from obtaining them (Gacha) to using them (Grail Casting, 120 Cap, Append Skill) is so bad, it's something that makes even an endgame player like me hesitate to spend my resource on. This is 100% not a propaganda to stop people from shoving another 10 cups into their cup for marginal gains.
I'm inclined to agree. I'd be hesitant to roll for extra copies of servants just for servant coins, as the coin distribution for non-whales is so low. It's been frequently recommended by other content creators not to roll for NP6s of SSRs, for example, as it's not worth the cost. There's also still a lot of confusion with older welfares and how they're going to get coins. I like Pocket's video, but it's up to Lasengle to address the issues people have had with the system since its introduction.
aside from that I think my particular is how everyone seems to ignore mash where she out of all the free servants should've been the easiest one to unlock append skills for yet I have not seen anyone mention where and how to get them outside of her future bond levels which barely covers 1 append skill.
I've known about how the stuff worked when it first got added to JP, and I've been watching videos all day to see which FGO content creator could do the best job explaining servant coins and I gotta say this is probably the best one so far. Not that I think any of the other ones I watched were bad by any means, I just think that this one in particular got the point across even better.
thanks chalk! been waiting for your guide to actually learn about how these work, don't know how i got by this far without your help! keep creating, you're awesome!
Tbh I am so happy about the early Servant coins. Now Achilles and Cú Caster can shoot instant NPs and 120 Lancer Cú will certainly will be difficult to bring down (also 120 Achilles and Cú Caster will hit harder) Now I just need another 2 Achilles copy :,)
Nice guide! I don't play JP (since I don't wanna be stuck in farming hell). So this guide is really helpful to me, now I know I can unlock the battery of a SSR with just NP1. Thanks
Great video. The only thing that felt like was missing is the average number of 3* coins per saint quartz. Not many people will max out a 3*, most will probably be good with just mana loading, so I think most of the 3* coins will probably go to grail casting. I already did the calculation myself and you should get 2.2 coins per sq on average. That means you'd need around 910 sq for a grail!
@@josiaharaki7310 I obviously wouldn't use it just for the grail, but if I'm already gonna roll 900 sq for castoria, It's useful to know how many coins I'll get for that
Yeah you get a couple thousand quartz per year so that is enough for 2 out of 24 grails possible per year with grail casting. If we get grail casting exactly 2 years after JP this means that we'll be getting coins for a year and a half of summons to put to grail casting and appends if you really want to append all the 3* servants, which the majority won't be interested or they'll spend a lot of coins for one particular servant and none for another servant. Like Mephistopheles is perfect grail fodder, Caesar is grail fodder after you unlock what you want with his coins, etc. etc.
Thanks for making this videos. You and Kadroth made some excellent in depth guides\commentaries on this system, and it's very rare to find discussions like this about these very specific game mechanics. Since the coins are a very limited one time use resource, I've been thinking twice before using them on my top units. This system was definitely made for whales. But like many said, the mana loading skill will be the best application for them in general; helps with farming, and not only by turning a kscope into 100% (Even though many elitists shame on people for upgrading mana loading and not having a mlb kscope when huge amount of people don't have it), It also makes some comps able to work like your musashi example. And also it's the fastest to level up, since 120ing takes so many more resources. The only exception and my personal problem with this is, Having a favorite servant and deciding if 120ing it or unlocking its mana loading. Of course, it depends on the type of servant, for a farmer or looper you have to think twice though. For example, servants like the musashi from your video, do you want to give them more damage similar to np5 or making them more viable to different setups thanks to that extra 20% charge? A whale will easily do both, but not the common player. The good thing about super grailing them is that the extra damage also benefits their facecards. The same problem can be applied if your favorite servants is a soloer, do you want to give them more extra attack (which also gives more dmg, stars and np gain) or more damage in general from the grails? This system forces you to go for more copies if you want the best from both worlds. After all of this, my final thoughts in the cases I mentioned, append skilling sounds like the best priority, like I said, it's easier to get and the payoff is immediate. For many servants, you will have leftovers coins to super grail them a couple levels past 100, not 120, but still enough to give a boost to their performance. And there are always bond grails which give extra 30 coins each, and STILL, grailing any one to 100 make them a beast already. I think, leveling your favorite past 100 and getting that shiny card effect is enough to show the love.
It's so fun being able to finally 3T with DSS Lancelot. Although I was really hoping to designate my NP2 QSH and NP2 Gramps as eventual 120 targets, but I guess that's unlikely since I also plan to unlock their AS1 and AS2. My NP3 Ozy may be a better target, so I'll go with him. I guess.
this is a neat video and all and I know I'm late to comment but why does no one seem to realize when it comes to servant coins Mash is in a special spot where every time i look up mash servant coins specifically no one seems to have an actual answer where that tells me the devs wasted time on giving Mash append skills but no way to unlock all 3 or these shops you bring up have mash coins too but no one is mentioning them. seriously why is it so hard to understand when people ask "What about Mash servant coins?" specifically. i get how it works for all the other servants but i feel like everyone who does FGO content either intentionally or ignorantly leave out Mash like it somehow works the exact same way where far as I can tell in NA and the wiki no it really doesn't. type moon kind of screwed the pooch on Mash when it comes to her servant coins.
Top 10 Servants with the highest combined star and NP gain from the Extra Attack Performance Append skill in the game thus far: 1 - Cleopatra 2 - Jaguar MAN 3 - Queen Medb 4 - Amakusa Shirou 5 - The Old Man of the Mountain 6 - Jeanne Alter 7 - Stheno 8 - Elizabeth Bathory (Halloween) 9 - Carmilla 10 - Sakata Kintoki (Rider) There certainly are many other servants that make it work, but they either have significantly less NP Gain from the extra attack or don't make as much stars for the NP they generate when compared to these servants' extra attacks. For these servants, it is incredibly more useful to unlock Extra Attack Performance Up over Mana Loading or grailing past 100.
Completing maxxing out a 5 star servant is absurd, and a tad disheartening. I went hard to get my Musashi (saber) to NP5, but with the coin requirement to max her out I need at least one more copy, and there isn't another projected banner in sight. I feel like if they're going to make the system so rough they really should give older limited servants more rate ups for the sake of their fans that would've had to reason to aim for NP6 before the addition of coins.
I'm sure we're gonna get grail casting faster than Jan 2024. It would make no sense to bring servant coins this early to have that feature put off until then. I suspect we'll get it beginning of next year Jan 2023, or sooner!
So that's why people summon so called "NP6" 5 stars. I've been puzzled for a while, I just couldn't think of a reason why. It's to reach 120 and unlock all the append skills. My Arc is NP5 with 2 append skills unlocked, third one (extra dmg against foreigners) sound pretty mid so I'll skip that one and level 120 instead
I'm curious to get your opinion on the current situation where most players didn't get all their NP coins for servants? Do you believe we'll see a patch before the end of the current event? Will we get apologems from the devs to add to our castoria fund?
I would be surprised if it took Lasengle longer than the duration of the summer event to put a patch to correct the servant coins error. And yes I'd presume apologems would be offered given the caliber of the error, though best I can do is speculate based on past behavior. TLDR: Probably yes
Okay so that actually explains the servant coins quite alot, but there's one kind of servant coin i dont get and i've actually tried looking, where the heck do you get mash's servant coins? I've already got her to max bond lv 5 cause i havent started lostbelt 4 yet. And supposedly your able to get her third append skill unlocked so my question is was this a bug or are we just screwed out of mash append skill til we get avalon added?
I know I'm quite late here but I just wanted to know if append skills can be interchanged while being already unlocked. I'll be more specific. I have carelessly opened up append skill 1 for my Koyanskaya light even though I want to unlock her append skill 2 or mana loading. What I wanted to know is that is there any way I can undo the previous unlocking and get back the servant coins already used and use it again to unlock mana loading,?
I knew this before unlocking Appends 1 and 3 of Space Ishtar, now I have to get another copy or 2 in order to 120 her. I wish I just only opened Mana Loading.😭
Can't really make a decision between unlocking all 3 appends for Abby or going for lvl 120 with only append 2. Append 1 and 3 give her some useful damage bonuses but idk if they would outweigh the damage gained through grailing to 120. Would go for 120 with append 2 and 3 but idk if I'll ever have the means or the money to pull for more copies to make that possible. Already unlocked append 2 since it works so well with S1 strengthening but deciding between the other appends or 120 is kinda rough.
My np4 bond lvl 13, level 100 ereshkigal only has 100 servant coins, but all of my bond 5 level 80 4 stars started with 150 minimum, am I missing something
I didn’t understand when my NP5 Gilgamesh only had 60 servant coins when I had him at bond lv9 before the update. I feel like I’ll end up getting unregistered spirit origins before I get his coins now 🥲
