I love American truck, got to love the big sleepers, but I have always liked the cab-overs, and this one is the best I have ever seen. Wish they sold those here in the US. :(
Actually yes, Peterbuilt, KW, Freightliner, Mack driven them all and i had 3 Scania's in the US. I can't say that the Volvos in the Us are made like the European because they aren't, but they are well built. Peterbuilt is not a convenient truck because there is no visibility, no turning radius and the cab is tight no comfort.
In Detroit, there is a lot of steel being moved around from factory to factory. So when there are no scales within the city to inforce truck regulations, companies would put as material as they can on one truck to cut costs. I see these american trucks struggle pulling these heavy loads. So it would be interesting to see a small Euro truck with all that power to pull some of these loads.
Having driven extensively both sides of the Atlantic I can definitely say European trucks are far superior to their American cousins, especially Volvo. US and European Volvos are not in any way comparable. The only advantages US trucks have is the cab size and light weight, in every other aspect they fall well short. Fit and finish, ride, handling, variety of storage, gearboxes and even power delivery are way better in the Euros
A Western Star is basically a Freightliner. The quality trucks here are Peterbilt and Kenworth. I've driven a 387. They weight between 19,000 and 23,000 pounds. I'm quite sure an euro truck can beat that.
lol isaid the same when they released the 700 on single drive absolutly pointless 750 horses you wanna be running at max weight 44 tonnes or use for heavy haulage, single drive !!!! fucking wasted on it !
Why 750 its thx to scaina At some points there was race volvo vs scania. Volvo got 700 then scania come with there r730 and then volvo come with 750hp 750 use less fual then 700 because 750 dont need run full power when it got heavy load. But at end most of time you dont need it but when you got money Why not :) And now we w8 long time on scanina with there new 780 but it can take many years we wil see that
