I followed the instructions of the video for my American Fiat 500 the only difference is two Phillips screws on the edge of the trim. Thing is something is misaligned and I can’t tell what but once I close the door I can’t open it from inside the car. EDIT: I had to loosen my screw securing the handle to the door. It’s still misaligned but it’s functionally working.
I need to do this for my wife's fiat only difference being our drivers side doesn't have a barrel lock will this make any difference to the installation of the new handle??? Any help appreciated.
Cheers this was a good help, was worried I broke something when that metal barrel clip flew off Only problem is I bought a cheapo one from Amazon so needed to file the bottom to get it to fit in the notches and sit flush 😅
Thank you so much for the details. this helped me fix my wife's fiat. I will say the only difference I had was the plastic interior removal had two Philips Screws that needed removed. Easy to find, they were behind two cosmetic flat caps on the side.
Your superb video ‘saved my bacon’ I had watched a number of RU-vid videos convincing me that I only needed to replace the broken little aluminium hinge in the tail of the door handle. I’m sure this is true, but such a faff! In an attempt to extract the handle sufficiently to provide clearance to secure the new hinge, my clumsy 76 year old hands managed to break the main hinge mechanism plastic guide. How I wish I had watched your video first. Replacing the complete door handle (driver’s side) was relatively easy and the job was completed in a couple of hours. The tiny aluminium hinge cost me £5.14. The complete replacement door handle - which included the tail hinge and all other parts - was only £11.98 including postage from eBay.
