3:10 There's an air deflector at the very front of the open roof (at least on North American models) that you can unlock and it will pop up, eliminating this wind noise. I personally keep it down all the time because I enjoy the extra wind :) I've owned my 2012 500c for over a year, daily driven in Canadian winters, and am crazy enough to do regular 1000km journeys with it. It's an absolute blast to drive, even in my 6 foot stature. The only real issue has been with frayed wires in the convertible top towards the upper brake light, and towards the trunk. A simple soldering job + stress relieving material remedied this.
This car deserve more then money, because it made of the beautiful 500 History and the italian style which is a combination between the past and the present in one car, its the Fiat 500 ! I REALLY LOVE THE CUTE CAR !
Five years on - do you still have the FIAT? How reliable has it been? I'm thinking about getting one but scared of breakdowns that I've heard happen a lot with this car.
I love the "rag top" feature as it seems it would be pleasant to drive on a beautiful day. Your review pointed out a most chilling fact and that is that when the "rag top" is fully engaged, it makes seeing what's behind you virtually impossible to detect. Im picking up my 500 on friday and cant wait, ive got rid of my Jaguar XE sport for this and couldnt be happier, all about personal choice, what doesnt work for one works for the other. As long as it does what it needs to happy days :)

My US version of the 500 (1.4 Pop) has a similar "City Park" feature but it's automatic. Surely it wouldn't be too difficult to fit this to the ROW cars. And for those who're wondering, in place of that button is a sport button that firms up the steering permanently, and on automatics holds the gears a bit longer.
My car is a 2013 500c. It has the head rest in the back seat. I'm not quite sure why this car doesn't. But I LOVE THIS CAR in any case. Reasonably priced and a lot of fun driving it. Just make sure you're not expecting a large car with large boot space or crazy acceleration speeds. It is true that it's pretty squeezy at the back. But 1 person at the back makes it roomy, 2 might be a little claustrophobic after 30 mins. I probably wouldn't recommend it if you're living in a city/area with lots of elevation and hills. This car is great for the general drive though :)
@KenDroid66 Look Neanderthal, try getting your one brain cell around this - women want to hear a FEMALE perspective. Considering the majority of these Fiat 500 cars (amongst others) are bought by women, then I personally want to see women reviewing one rather than the usual cleaning products. Got that?????
Good review.... just forgot to mention this is the base model the 'pop'... hence why it has no rear head restraints and no parking sensors on the back..... so visibility isnt an issue at all. Get the lounge model :)

This car is aimed at well dressed ladies with Manolo Blahnik shoes, Luis Vuitton bag and iPhone. Its not coincidence whenever i see woman getting out of this car, its always some de-luxe...with taste.
In my experience with Fiat 500's if you live in a hilly area don't expect the fuel economy to be exceptional. 6.7l/100km. The reason being you must push them quite hard to keep up with traffic. You might achieve WLTP if you live in a flat city.
When you disconnect or get a new battery the rear trunk and top will not work on reattachment. RU-vid shows you how to make them work again without going to the dealer.
***** Would you care to cite your references? To my knowledge, ALL cars have small problems. Fiat is no different. I have a 2012 and it's been great. Original battery went dead (expected), an a couple light bulbs needed replaced. Other than that, no problems at all.
my wife has this car on an 09 plate which does have rear head restraints. Problem is, they also reduce rear window visibility and are too low for adults sitting in the back anyway to be of no good use... so that's probably why they got rid of them on this newer model. Convertibles are a waste of time in the UK but it is a fun car too which can take some throwing about.
I don't know why people keep insisting these cars are "cool". These cars aren't cool. They are small, affordable and unpractical. I wouldn't define that as cool at all.
The U.S 500 is better equipped all around. 7-Speaker Bose audio, Leather seats, a glove box, Bi- Halogen lights, Heated seats, Automatic climate control, an exhaust, alloy wheels, front ventilated and rear disk brakes. And rear head restraints are standard. And the Engine is 1 choice 1.4L 101hp and 98tq.
