Just bought my first motorhome, based on a fiat duc. Normally im sailing so i brought with me my maintans psychosis. i love you guys that bother making such vid, to help others. They are extremely helpful. Thanks!
your a star mate, just about to do the top mount bearings and noticed that some people have the drive shaft pull out when they do this and gear box oil can leak out. Was going to get the oil just in case this happens to me ! Your video is golden, thanks loads !
Fantastic video demo. Our MH often won’t go into gear. It cost us £4,000 last time and it still does it. We think it needs the gear oil changed. Hopefully it will solve the problem.
Thanks for this, I am looking for details on how to change the gearbox oil on my 2002 Peugeot Compass Avantgarde 200. I was told that the gearbox is sealed for life, but the oil is now 20 years old and I want to replace it. I just hope that your information also applies to my model. I will get out and get under when the weather improves!
Just take your time, collect the old oil and measure it, then you will know if it was low, I checked the amount against what came out, then filled with correct level. Remember if your gearbox leaks it may have less than required amount.
Brilliant!!! First time I've watched a tutorial that showed everything that's needed . Thank you. I've noticed there's a squicky sound on my fiat ducato motorhome 2000 when driving up the hill. We had issues about the gear sealant , it's been leaking ever so slowly but I can't find anywhere to replace it so I'm stuck with this sealant. I brought the oil but haven't got all that tool, might need to start working my way to fill the gear. You also said that I need the exact, how can I when I don't know the amount that was drained and I don't want to get rid of the oil inside already. Thanks
lydern, just drain it all out, then refill with 2.6lts of the correct gear oil. the odd couple of ml will not harm your gearbox, its better than guessing and with 2.6 lts it will be in spec, hope that helps, david.
Thanks for that detailed vid. I have a 2006 2.8JTD van which I've just converted and I presume the route to the location of the breather cap will be the same as yours? I hope 👍👍
good video .personaly i wouldent go by wat comes out goes in .ive seen these leak over time so its not exactly accurate .could be less in it that should be .i have a 2016 relay in at the moment that has been slightly leaking gearbox oil( which customer noticed.upon inspection sump plug was damp). so probably best to read ur owners manual to see quantity of oil .oil came out was slightly over 2 litres so was low on oil ....
Hi Paul, I agree, but I did search Google beforehand, and I found that most people used the extra oil because the fifth gear was not getting properly lubricated. If I remember it was only 0.2lts, my vehicle did not have any leaks and was only low milage, I agree with you though that what comes out may not necessarily be the correct amount. My vehicle did have the manual listed amount when drained, but after consulting the many postings on the web I thought I would add the extra 0.2lts. thanks for your interest and glad you liked the video
Hello, I have a Fiat Ducato from 2005 too, but in some places I read that it must have a gp4 valve and in other places gp5, which is ours, the common gp4 you show in the video? thank you
Ryan, thanks for your input. This video is for the average man who only has basic tools, therefore shows the easiest way to do the job on the driveway. I'm quite sure a garage with a pit would do the job, but that would come with a bill plus vat. This video is for the DIY mechanic wanting to save money.
@@davidbosworth.3395 could probably do it with some decent stands. Easy to get to directly above the drain plug above the offside drive shaft. Plenty of room around it
I sure it was very a informative video but can I just say Never ever film in portrait mode only use landscape mode and then you will get a full screen video.👍
Welcome Steve, at my age I'm very surprised I can film anything, I forget sometimes to turn phone, usually after I have made the video, I'm pleased you find them interesting, there are other videos out there for a more professional rebuild, mine are very amateur like my rebuilds. Thanks for your interest
David Bosworth Hi Dave. Not a problem my friend its a bit of a thing with me and you see it everywhere and its a shame cause there are brilliant clips out there and spoilt because of portrait mode but thanks for the video.👍
