This video is really awesome mainly because of the different shooting styles you show in the middle of the video. It would be great if you could do a stand alone video on the different techniques for holding, drawing, and shooting while holding the arrows in the bow hand. Thanks!
This was my second bow based on your review... and now this is all I shoot with. I have a larger bow, but found it too tall to shoot in my basement (I'd have to squat down and get inbetween the beams!) and with this I can comfortably shoot year round down there. Also of benefit of the size is that I have a small car and this bow fits perfectly in the back (and out of sight) of my car. I'm very much still a beginner, but enjoying this very much; as well as recommending it to a friend. Thanks so much!
Hi Armin, Really enjoy your reviews. You got me interested in these kind of bows. Ordered and received one from Canyon 25#@28, 43#@32. Perfect for learning the thumb release. A very smooth draw. Canyon was very helpfull answering any questions I had, great customer service. Thank you so much. Tom
yeah, was a horrible edit, as Lumafusion is not cooperative anymore... didn't let me bring the clips in the timeline. was a hassle and in this, a bit audio got lost. but I wrap it up, so nothing is really lost
Armin Hirmer Thanks for the answer. I bought a hornbow en i just shoot at targets, no horse back archer i am but i noticed there is not enough info neither on youtube nor on the internet. I am wondering what spine carbon arrows i should choose and then the length is also important. Btw Merry Christmas
ouch, it's $220 USD WITH a dozen matched arrows on this side of the boarder including shipping. Oversized shipping is absolutely no fun unless you have the market power to negotiate (amazon), it was $40 US domestic via USPS and that is VERY likely to be at or just below cost for a small business. So with the Canadian dollar around .75 to the USD (7/5/20) yup, sounds about right. We've gotten spoiled by the online giants when it comes to shipping things.
So grateful for this channel it's been an endless source of information for me as I've been getting into thumb release archery. I pose a question to anyone reading this though: I'm looking to get a bow specifically for thumb release and I have two potential roadblocks. (Firstly) I have a draw length of 32" while shooting Mediterranean style - and it looks like I'd need a bow that can do significantly more than that if I want to fully explore thumb release archery. Second potential roadblock is that I'm in the US and not even sure where best to look into ordering such a bow. Anyone have suggestions for circumnavigating these problems?
Thank you for the wonderful video! What are your thoughts on Alibows fiberglass Turkish bow vs their fiberglass Tatar bow? I've been practicing thumb release and other Saracen style shooting techniques on my cheap fiberglass recurve for a while and have gotten pretty good, but i want to buy a shorter recurve and have been considering either Alibows Turkish or Tatar bow. I asked for the Turkish bow for Christmas, but I don't know if I made the right choice. So I was wondering what you like about each bow and why the Tatar is your favorite over the Turkish bow.
I brought an Alibow fiberglass turkish bow 4 months ago, following the advise from Armin's review : it was really a good idea! The bow is smooth and forgiving for a beginner, really well made for the price. 😎
both are great, tatar a bit longer but draws a bit more and I lke the handle of tatar a bit better. turkish is shorter and even more snappy. both are aweseome. and the one in this video is kind of the perfect combination of both
It's fiberglass but they do their job. It's worth it to practice different styles and improve techniques. Well, as long as it's a comfortable poundage.😀 thanks for the nice video🙏
Thanks for the review! Nothing wrong with a cheap bow if it works. Wondering why customs is concerned about your draw weight? And why can't they package it back up properly??
I love smaller arches, but I still don't know if you recommend alibow or nomad. Besides, I don't understand NTN of alibow vs NTN nomad. On their sites it is not specified. Can you answer these questions for me? Thanks for the reply.
I just received one of the Nomad Warrior Fiberglas Horsebows. Reasonable, rugged, accurate, shootable off both sides, extremely compact, leather-wrapped and nice looking. What's not to like?! I would like to get one of the laminated fiberglas ones sometime in the future. Armin, I have noticed something in my "beginner" thumb release shooting. If I don't anchor my draw-hand flush up against my cheek, I notice I have better accuracy and less deviation of the arrows to the right. I notice now in your video that you also do not anchor your right hand flush up against your cheek when shooting off the right side of the bow with thumb-release. Thx!
when you shoot a bow for five-hundred dollars, you expect it to be great. but when you then have a cheap bow like this and it performs great - that amazes me
Some 'bow snobs' deride fibre glass bows. I've purchased several and have made one also; currently making a second, so I can attest to the robustness of these bows. Great for the first time archer probing the delights of horse archery. I'll check out the link later and see what they have to offer. Thanks for the review, Armin. Concise and informative as ever. Flaxen Saxon
In my experience fiberglass can get the same results as laminated bows. It might not be as pretty, and it might make a little more noise, but it sends arrows to the target all the same, and is more resistant to poor storage conditions.
I live in Canada so the weather can range from +30°C to -40 so laminated bows have a harder time. My fibreglass bow I dont think will have me as worried about shooting in -20 weather
Thank you for the demonstration, once this C-19 issue is clear and I'm back to work i will definitely pick one up at the moment I shoot a Primal gear fold up bow .
I just bought one of these based on your review (40lbs), but want to make my own arrows - what would you suggest for material, weight, length, fletching etc? Thanks!
Mine in 50 # just arrived. Of COURSE I slept on my wrist last night so I cant shoot it today but I measured it and its 53 at 28 not 50. Heck I ain't complainin
I own one of these 50#, great little bow. shots like a dream and you can t beat it for the price. I really love the way the laminate version looks, but the one I have shoots so well, I can t justify getting another one. I do shoot it thumb release with just my hunting gloves on (thin spring weight), can shoot all day without hurting my thumb.
Thanks, I thought that you where about to leave the island.... Waiting impatiently for your new outdoor revues ! Fröhliche Weihnachten, M. Hirmer, bis bald !!!!!!
i have this bow in 40 lbs draw @28... still trying to find the best hunting arrow for it? spine? weight in grains? tip weight? any recomendation would be apreciated
You sir have a new subscriber. Just listened to you address a someone who was rude to one of the viewers absolutely loved your response. In the process of picking up a new bow from Alibow due to your reviews. Liked this bow as well but I already ordered. Thank you so much for the videos. I have shoot some bows off and on but really decided to make it a full time hobby. After watching your videos on the thumb draw I felt confident enough to give it a try and make the purchase.
