I am overwhelmed. Background sounds make me think your greenhouse is in a busy restaurant, such contrast to the image of bonsai culture in a meditative setting. Peter, you are my hero and template for vigorous maturity, though I am only five years behind you. Josh is a peach, as we say in the American South. You are lucky to have him.

we really appreciate the close-ups, we see so much more detail. Thank-you! And please, keep up the great teaching and work you share with your knowledge with us. Your videos are very much appreciated and watched. Again, Thank-You and many blessings!

Peter I think that you and Josh work well together, he should be doing more work with you in the future. Peter, I love your work.

Hi, Peter! Have you ever thought of using a hedge trimmer to do the the general shaping part of the pruning? It would make your work a lot faster. Yeah, I know you are fast but still power tools can be a big help for nursery work. Nowadays there’s a wide range of small and very small battery hedge trimmers (the smallest are sold as grass trimmers but should handle young twigs just fine) available on the market. Worth considering imo. Unless ofc you are already using them and not showing us because not relevant to hobbyists. Btw, thanks for video. Extremely helpful for me taking care of my 3 ficus bonsai. 😊

Peter I know you are the master here, but could that sick little ficus actually be from OVER watering as opposed to under watering? It looked to me like it could have been suffering from root rot. In which case, remove all the soil and rotted roots first, then plant it into fresh moss or perlite or whatever your choice of media is. I really enjoy your videos and watching your thought process as you clip away. Thank you for all the effort and talent you share with us all!

Good sphagnum moss is hard to come by here. I have had great success in rooting cuttings in 100% perlite. What do you think? Is is a serviceable substitute for moss?

Peter, I have a very sick Jacobabata (sp) that I have just about given up on. It was a gift from my daughter, so I am trying everything. Today I put it in a pot of sphagnum moss, and put it in a clear plastic bag, tied shut, but won't it grow fungus on it??

If I cut the roof off my car, its not suddenly a convertable. Similarly, digging up a tree stump and putting it in a pot doesnt suddenly make it a bonsai. Im surprised there isnt more critical lashback against clearly fake bonsaists.

im saying this about the many other channels on YT, not this guy who has clearly been bonsaing for a lifetime. Theres nothing more cringe to me than phonies who disrepect an artform by doing all sorts of freakish shortcuts to try and achieve something in 5 years rather than 50 years.
