I watched this originally simply because it had the Big Yin playing a zombie(I grew up in Glasgow so being a Billy Connolly fan is in my blood), i absolutely loved it and I now watch it every Halloween. Every time I watch I still find it hilarious that they turned the "Boy and his Dog" storyline around to be a Boy and his Zombie.

Was NOT expecting to see this film on here. This is literally one of those films where you are flipping through netflix on your day off, see the cover, see the title, and just immediately click play because you know its either going to be great, or gloriously terrible. literally as in, thats how i discovered it. lol was very surprised at how good it turned out to be. and absolutely agree, the setting, the comedic timing, the level of 50's cheese. highly underrated. as far as zombie comedy films, its just behind Warm Bodies as my favorite (that one being one of my favorite zombie films, period, and glad it was mentioned.)

2007 was the year for the zombie comedy. There was also "Aaah! Zombies!!" which was a great zombie comedy told from the perspective of the zombies.

also recommend that one. Zombies anonymous was another, tho that is much darker then the others, but still an interesting take.

Billy Conneley is great in this despite not being able to show off his 2 best assets, his Scottish brogue and his long flowing locks.

Didn't expect you to get to this underrated gem!😮👍🥰 Not many people know this I think! So it's a nice surprise to see you discover this! Knew it would be right up your alley!😅 It's been a while since I watched it but I still remembered all of it! That's how good it is/how much I love it! I especially appreciate how much love for 50s cheese and the Zombie-Genre alike are noticable throughout this movie! Love that you mentioned some of that wonderful movie magic!😅 And yup, the cast is also absolutely stellar! They all fit perfectly but Billy Connolly steals the show!! Then again, he's always brilliant! Boondock Saints immediately comes to mind but also all those hilarious stand up comedy specials!! Looking forward to whatever is coming up next! Lots of Love!!💜✌️🍀

Glad you caught up with FIDO, truly a neglected little gem of a horror/comedy. Also, not just Carrie-Ann Moss and Billy Connelly, but also Dylan Baker (Sam Raimi's SPIDER-MAN trilogy, ROAD TO PERDITION, PLANES TRAINS AND AUTOMOBILES, THIRTEEN DAYS) as the dad and Tim Blake Nelson (O BROTHER WHERE ART THOU, MINORITY REPORT, THE INCREDIBLE HULK) as the neighbor with the zombie "girlfriend". As far as recommendations, here are four more good (but relatively unknown) comedy/horror films worth checking out, especially the first two: 1.) MR. VAMPIRE (1985, Hong Kong) 2.) FRANKENHOOKER (1990) 3.) I SELL THE DEAD (2008) 4.) PARENTS (1989)

This movie is fantastic and the layers of references in it run very deep. You guys picked up on the general “Boy and His Dog” framing of the story and the brilliant Lassie homage with the “Is Timmy in trouble?” sequence. Besides Lassie though, another classic “Boy and Dog” story is the novel, “Where the Red Fern Grows” and I believe it’s influence can be seen in the movie as well. In that book, the main character is menaced by two bullies who are brothers. Then at the climax of the novel one of them kills the other accidentally while threatening the main character with violence that goes too far and out of control. Just like in this movie. As a lifelong comic fan another homage I noticed was at least one scene where the main character is dressed just like Dennis the Menace. While his new girl next door crush is dressed similar to Margaret Wade. Who was Dennis’ redhead rival in both the cartoon and the comic strip. There the roles where a little different with Margaret always claiming to have a crush on Dennis, but always treating him blatant disrespect. In an attempt wrap up my nerd fact rant, I will just ask anyone who is interested to google the word “Containment” in relation to US policy during the height of Cold War for a few extra laughs when the phrase is used the way it is in this movie. Love you guys, love the channel! Thank you so much for watching and reacting to this wonderful but sadly mostly unknown movie.

Only if it’s the original cast!! The JJTrek movies are eh at best… they’re written in a way that clearly shows that they don’t understand the social dynamic of Kirk and crew. They tried to make it Star Wars… and IMHO it just doesn’t work.

I know its Halloween season. But when its over I would really like to see your reactions to some Classic British films that largely unknown or not really talked about in the US. As a big movie fan I have seen many American movies both big budget to no budget. But when I mention many of what we brits regard as classics, many of my US friends have never heard of them or if they have they've never really seen them.. I'm talking about films along the lines of The Carry on films, The Railway Children from 1970, The Amazing Mr Blunden from 1973, Hobson's Choice 1955, A company of wolves, The Snapper 1993, The long good Friday 1980 and Mona Lisa 1986 . I would mention The Devils 1971 but I think that is only available in a extremely edited version in the US or might be totally banned..

If you liked this, you should really watch "Maggie" (2015) with Arnold Schwarzenegger... It is another POST zombie apocalypse movie where society has adjusted to the ever present danger of zombies. Amazingly, it is a very good movie that almost no one has heard of... And Schwarzenegger puts in an amazing dramatic performance! And there is also "Warm Bodies" (2013) about the deeper emotional lives of zombies... It is also a lot of fun!
