As a teacher I can say that Peter is an amazing teacher in his interactions with his volunteers. He’s specific in his praise and let’s others make independent decisions.

Put me down as a lover of weird roots. This video had lots of value: planting root pieces for hundreds of starts, never occurred to me, sadly. And, the fact that, if you don’t stop air layering, the project will never finish, are words to live by; in bonsai, as in life.

An American "Box Elder" as bonsai?! Never thought I'd see one. It's oddly satisfying seeing our native trees being turned into bonsai in the U.K. Amazing 👍

"these people come to the nursery and see all these crazy trees, and they think I'm mad. I'm not." I'm laughing so much right now, because I was just thinking "I really wish there was a bonsai nursery near me with such cool pre bonsai."

Good morning I have watched you for years, I have plucked up the courage to make my own little bonsai out of a box privet, it has a nice little thick main stem, I am just afraid I will ruin it. I hope to visit you one day Best wishes Shirley in Lancashire UKxx

Love the Shirt Peter , I am following the progress of a maple master ! that you can just put into the ground hard wood cutting of approx , 1" in a free flowing media/soil and they will just grow like a willow, this is totally different to what I have been told. I like what you have done to the trees and could you do a follow up of the root cuttings Please ,all my attempts have died.

I notice, Peter, that you communicate to your staff in a sort of spoken-word shorthand. "I wonder if this evolved from written notes of instruction?

Like my dentist communicating with his dental nurse - One word or two words is all it takes to communicate - Upper right one - lower left five and so on.

Isn’t acer negundo the maple with a compound leaf? I’d love to see it in full bloom, could you post a picture on Instagram, if not a video. Thank you Mr. Chan

Do you have any tips for air layering Korean Hornbeam? I haven't had much luck with them. I have had pretty good success with Elms and Acer.

I had always been a bonsai enthusiast…. But without much knowledge and RU-vid watching like now…. I killed my Canadian maple on its 13th year after I removed the main root. Other 3 to 5 years old Japanese maples ,cypresses and junipers I killed as well. 😢😢😢 I am now at retirement age and may not have enough time to grow another one. I am hoping to be in London spring 2024…. And I hope I have the chance to see your bonsai paradise. Been watching you for 3 years now… But I am still killing my plants after pruning, and repotting… I admire your way… just cutting branches and roots without fear of killing them… What is the basis of cutting roots without killing the plants? I hope to hear from you sir.
