The Fifine AM8 has been a highly requested microphone review on both my Tiktok and RU-vid channels,
Honestly I wasn't expecting much from a mic that only costs around $60 but surprisingly it turns out that it sound FAR more expensive than that..
sure it has its flaws and it isnt perfect, but for a beginner creator or anyone on a tight budget the FIfine Am8 would be a great choice for live streaming or even working from home...

Yes, it is very wise to test each microphone at a different angle, distance from your mouth, and volume level. I see that I am dealing with a professional in this film.

i've always found that the k688 is REALLY nice on xlr, and tbh it is a little warmer sounding and easier on the ears

I agree! The USB preamps just aren't the best (Cant complain too much for the price) But via XLR the k688 sounds a lot better & louder! However if I was ONLY buying an XLR setup and not upgrading from USB. The Elgato Wave DX honestly isn't that much different in price to a k688 Especially on sale you can grab them for about £70

I recently made a video with the Podmic/goxlr settings and I just reused those settings for the AM8... I think th only thing I changed was the amount of input gain but that depends on how loud YOU are anyway

Hey great video! I also found that the mic is a bit quiet out the box. I've tried tuning it in OBS but I swear I'm so bad with audio 😅I'm just wondering what filter settings you were running on the am8. Thanks!

Between those 2 mics? Honestly I think it comes down to aesthetics And if you think the extra 30 bucks or so is worth it For features like a shockmount on the maono (I personally like how the pd200X looks more) Build & Sound quality wise they're pretty similar, Especially after adding a few filters. However if you're jumping up to that £80 range for the maono, it's not much more of a Jump to buy an Elgato Wave "Neo" for £90 Which is also a great usb mic & you get the addition of wavelink software which allows you control all your audio & add filters to your mic outside of streaming so it'll sound good everywhere amzn.to/3ZvhGZX (Lose the XLR upgrade path but this sounds great as a usb mic) Overall it depends on what you plan on doing with it, how loud it is where you create & how you like your setup to look 🔥

Then just go for the K688! Even though without the RGB, the K688 definitely fits most scenarios better!

Start/end of the video when it has filters on the mic is actually using a GoXLR! 😅 It sounds pretty great when you use the XLR output, especially for how cheap it is

Yetis are a bit outdated these days... The're OK if you already have one but there are better options out there if youre buying something new Personally I prefer this AM8 over the K688 But in the under $100 range the maono Pd200X is probably my fav 🤔

Small tip to further reduce background noice from keyboard, Fifine logo should be at 90 degree angle to your desk.

I just ordered the AM8T today (actually ordered 2) for a podcast I'm launching. I was a bit nervous on the price, but I needed a dynamic instead of a condenser b/c I'm outside smoking cigars as part of the podcast. Thanks for this review. It's quite helpful and eases my nerves a little bit. They're to be delivered tomorrow and I'll give them a test run in my podcast web interface to see how it sounds. I'll play with the gains. From everything I've seen, and your review, I think I'll be in good shape!

Hey, which one is better am8 or pd200x in usb mode for normal youtube videos when my mouth will be 4-6inches away from the mic and for some casual occasional singing? Which has better noise cancellation? And if i can EQ the sharpness of the pd200x to lower it? Why I'm confused? Am8 sounds flat and muddy at times, but pd200x has a very nasally voice and the highs are very sharp too Your voice seems to be quiet deep, mine is normal, with a lil inclination towards deep, so now which would be better for me?

Personally I Slightly prefer the Pd200X.. I think the Pre amps are slightly better/louder But it also costs a little bit more than the AM8, so it depends on your budget and which microphone you think looks the best too.. Both are great beginner mics 🔥

-Noise gate -Noise supression (sometimes) depends how bad background noise is -EQ -Compressor And a limiter Basically use the setup I did in the recent OBS filter video I uploaded

Can you turn off the rgb for the AM8 while in usb mode? I know that in xlr mode the rgb is off.

I think so... If I remember correctly, I think you can do a LONG press and it'll turn off/ On the RGB and short presses change the colour Lemme check **Back in 5 mins**

OK.. Just checked and can Confirm, if you hold the button down for about 3 seconds then the RGB switches off!.. Hope that helps ^_^

I just got the AM8 microphone and I feel like it's an amazing one, however - it is not as clear as yours when you have your filters set up. Which filters did you use for the AM8? I watched your video regarding the setup of filters, but I can't get it just right...

Sounds like the low-pass filter taking effect, if yes, try to remove it with the high-pass one.

Does the dual output (USB & XLR) of AM8 operate alternately or can they be used simultaneously? If they can be used simultaneously, is it possible as a backup in case one of them encounters an issue? How about K688? Can the USB & XLR be used simultaneously? I appreciate your help.

It doesn't make that much point if the price isn't included, because then it's better to go with the Shure SM7B. In terms of the tone itself, to be honest, the PD400X is more comprehensive while the AM8 is more on the bass.

Hi Friend .. I would like to know briefly from you whether the AM8 microphone needs an external audio interface such as SC1 or SC3, is the difference worth paying for the audio interface or is just the USB connector enough? Or is it better to invest the same amount in purchasing a boom arm from Fifine Like fifine bm88 ? And about the USB cable, would you suggest buying another USB cable from UGREEN or Anker 3.0 instead of the one that comes with the microphone?

It doesn't "need" one as the USB input is good enough to get started... (especislly if you add filters in programs like OBS etc) But once you can afford it it'd be a good idea to get an XLR interface as the audio quality will improve due to better pre amps

For gaming or even getting started to stream, the USB mode of the AM8 should be pretty decent enough. But if you're talking about some subtle voice recording, combining the mic with an interface like the SC1 would render a better result. But if you're thinking about the voice-changers and sample button on the SC3 for maybe your console, then it's also worthy the investment.
